Aber zu langsam!
Busoni also had a pact with the devil, his genius was out of this world!
Oboe solos are wonderful here and in other recordings of BPO before 1951. Nobody play them such way anymore.
Poor intonation makes me wistful.
It's a shame it's not in stereo but otherwise well done

This is a re-construction work from the late 19th century based on the teenage Beethoven's early manuscript.
Prokofiev rules.
Wunderbare Entdeckung ! Sehr schön musiziert.Wo kann ich die Noten finden? Wonderful musik! Where can I get the musik?

Where is Beethoven in this concerto ?
Tenía 14 años; le faltaba madurez musical. Igual es precioso..-
The 14 year old genius is in every measure for those intelligent enough to hear him.
in my opinion particularly in the cadenzas

Dear Lily, thanks for uploud this marvelluos perfomance, I'm very impressed with it, I find it very vivid and energic, and the sound is spectacular for the time! Of course, I've suscribed to your channel! Thev no finale in the 1rst movto is a cataclism!!! Excuse my English please! Óscar Olavarría, from Chile, South America
Sondra Bianca did not make a single recording in Berlin - at least that's what she told me many years ago. When was this fragment recorded? I am amazed.
The Busoni piano concerto is the longest ever written : over 70 minutes on the average. These are only 17:40 mn : where are the other 52 mn ?
The answer is quite simple: the owner of this channel doesn't care neither for authentic Bünte recordings nor for correct labelling. this is what Busoni called "Konzertstück". The recording uploaded here comes from the LP Candide 31003, a sub-label of Vox-Turnabout presenting rarely heard music with almost unknown or underrated soloists, orchestras and conductors.
This is a completely separate work. This is not the piano concerto. The Konzertstuck was composed in 1890, and the piano concerto was composed in 1903-4.

Perfection
Hallo Renchang. Wie geht's dir? Un caro saluto. Luca
Sondra Bianca also recorded this piece with Hans-Jurgen Walther and both excellent versions appeared on various low budget record labels in the 1950s and 60s . Carl August Bunte was the chief conductor of the Berlin Symphony Orchestra from 1949 till its dissolution in 1967 and made quite a few records with them for the Vox-Turnabout label .
William, did you realize that this recording is NOT live even though Miss lillyjeannine is always eager to present her faked live performances? An interesting aside. When still being more into record & recordings research (more than 20 years ago) I contacted Miss Bianca in NYC asking whether she had ever made a recording with C.A.Bünte. She was astounded and could not remember having ever done that. To the contrary she said she remembered having made a Gershwin piano concerto recording with George Byrd conducting. There you are. Even more "funny": owning an original copy of her father's (Paul Lazare) recording & tape licensing business in Hamburg, the Gershwin piano concerto is listed there as stereotape No. 258, and the conductor is given as C.A.Bünte! No other tape with Bünte figures in that catalogue
Maybe this is Joyce Hatto who also knocked one off for Paul Lazare back in the day . Mind you Joyces version was listed with George Byrd so the mystery deepens . Sondra definitely did one with Hans Jurgen-Walther which came out on Parlophone in the UK . There is also a recording from C A Bunte (probably the same one as this one) that lists Adolph Drescher (1921-1967) as the soloist . If Miss Bianca says it cant be her it could possibly be Herr Drescher .
a great performance, great conductor
Das Scherzo is jedoch wirklich großartig!
Thank you, I have been searching for this concert!
please post more concerts of one of our greatest conductors thank you
Yes, this is the Genius of Furtwängler and the masterful Berlin Philharmonic in this time!!!! For me unsurpassed!

The US-American critic WIILLIAM R. TROTTER - A damn good Beethoven´´s Ninth, actually .Perhaps the highest compliment I can pay to Maestro Bünte is to say that at the very least, their performance made me sit up and take notice of this astounding work. I felt at least a dim reverberation of the impact it must have had on the audience that heard it for the first time, on May 7 1824. I own 37 different recordings of the Ninth, and quite honestly, I`ve come to rank this among the top ten.
Karl Georg Berg in DAS ORCHESTER , Schott Mainz Dass der Dirigent 1961 und 1962 den Musikpreis des Deutschen Kritikerpreises für seine Beethoven- und Bruckner- Interpretationen erhielt, ist nicht verwunderlich.
KARL GEORG BERG in DAS ORCHESTER , Schott Mainz.
Anton Schwab , New York ....Beethoven Symphony No.3 with Carl-August Bünte and Berlin Symphonic Orchestra. It is one of the very best historic performance I have gotten in many years. In my collecton I have many "Eroicas" - Furtwängler, Karajan, Kleiber, Wand usw. But the Bünte is very much the equal of these performances.

William R. Trotter ( USA ) Grateful for that warm and powerful reading of the Bruckner Seventh. The Kansai ensemble plays the work with beautiful concentration..
William R. Trotter (USA) EROICA has breadth, majesty, gravitas, an almost crushing physical power. Bravo ! It now joins Furtwängler´s and Mengelberg´s first recording on my shelf of Great Eroicas.
Perfect!
C.A.Bünte played this symphony 1955 with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra ! Recording available ???
thank you for this performance. enjoyed it very much. thank you for posting this
