Here we are using our main PC or laptop (Windows 11 CMD) to connect to the home server linux and run all the commands remotely from here. Thanks.

      Hello, I am unable to understand the problem you are trying to state. Things are simple here.. In AWS, 1. We are creating an Ubuntu 20 LTS VPS (EC2 T2 Micro) with 16GB Storage 2. We are editing security group to allow / open ports, like 22 / 80 / 443 / 331 (udp/tcp both) 3. We are installing OpenVPN software via a GitHub script. This is generating a client file as per our choice of name, here we are naming it nextcloud 4. We are creating a new fine under /etc/openvpn/ccd directory, naming it same as our client file, in this case nextcloud 5. we are writing two lines, to push a static IP in this client. this copy paste and control + x thing is to save that file in linux 6. We are not jumping back anywhere, we now downloading that client config file from step 4 (here mentioned) called nextcloud.ovpn As otherwise, without creating that same name but no extension file in /etc/openvpn/ccd, this nextcloud OpenVPN connection wont be having any static IP under VPN tunnel. What is here you are unable to understand? Thanks.

      Hi, Let's take it on by one.. 1. Installing Ubuntu on Local Server (your spare computer) 2. Installing OpenVPN on AWS Ubuntu.. Let's short things out one at a time.. So talking about Ubuntu Installation on your local system Which version of Ubuntu are you trying to install here? Ubuntu Server or Ubuntu Desktop? As per our article & video, you are supposed to install Ubuntu Server LTS, the latest version. There in the Ubuntu Server Installation wizard, don't forget to turn on (check that box) when it is asking about OpenSSH Server / Service.. Secondly, it will pull an IP from your local Router.. Ensure to keep your computer connected to the lan cable for this. If you have installed the OpenSSH Server during Ubuntu installation & system is connected to your router via LAN, then you can view the IP address in your router admin panel or Ubuntu will show that in the main login screen after installation. Did you install OpenSSH during Ubuntu install? And did you connect the router to server lan cable during installation? Thanks

    Watched your video more than 30 times in recent days.. I was trying to set up this type of backup server in Windows SubSys of Linux for a trial basis before I invest money. Definately, OS Environment is different than yours. So, I have problems in Setting up SSH and static IP for subsystem as I am new to linux. Tried many times. Failed and reinstalled Linux many times to fresh start as I may have disturbed networking. Still not succeeded but learnt something if not many. You have purchased a desktop means you are now planning for a new server. Upload your setup video soon soon soon. It may be a repeat but few differences will be there. And if possible help me in SSH and IP.

    • @LazyTourer
      @LazyTourer Před 12 dny

      Hello, Bro, trust me.. Any dev ops or system admin would understand the pain & frustration of being so close but getting stuck on the last small step.. Then those countless sleepless nights trying to redo things over and over again to try & solve the issue.. Looking at your comment, one issue I can immediately see is the default network structure of WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux). By default the network is designed to create a double NAT virtual network & put that subsystem in that second level NAT. So although your Host OS can SSH or access the IP of that subsystem but as it's a different subnet than your router or LAN, this Subsystem in its default state can't be accessed via outside networks. I don't prefer WSL. Since full fledged hyper visors are there & it's better suited for the job you want to do with much greater flexibility. I wonder why don't you try this same thing with either Windows Hyper-V / VMWare or Virtual Box? All these applications are free to use. Especially Windows Hyper-V, when you have Windows Pro edition. Just remember, 1. In Hyper-V, before you create or deploy any VM, create a new virtual switch as external & attach your active network adapter (WiFi or LAN) of Host into it. This will allow guest os to obtain same SubNet range IP as your router or whatever LAN network your host is running. Now the VM (SSH) can be accessed from any system on your network. 2. Same thing in Virtual Box too.. here it's called Bridged mode. This will allow the guest os to get IP from router or be in the same SubNet as your host. This will solve your SSH & IP issue. Secondly, as I have mentioned in this video. This is a series and I plan to over following, one by one.. For the software setup of this home server project 1. TrueNAS 2. Proxmox 3. UnRaid 4. Windows Hyper-V Different ways but all gets the same job done. People can choose a setup which they feel comfortable and easy to work with & fits into their deployment requirements & environment. Thanks.

      Hello, Looking at your usage, I think you should be considering TP-Link Deco solutions. Like, this one amzn.to/3zSthaJ Deco S7 2 or 3 packs.. Ensure CAT6 cable connection between two Deco units. One as router with your main internet and second one as access point, connected to main Deco router via CAT6 LAN cable. Looking at your usage details, I feel two should be sufficient for covering your entire house. Just place them at each far away corner or as per your need. Remember, run a CAT6 cable between two deco units. This will ensure full signal all over and seamless and auto wifi roaming of WiFi devices as you move around your home. Secondly, if you are technically sound enough to flash your router with OpenWRT and then configure them for OpenMesh, two TP-Link C6 or A6 will do the same job too.. Now depending on your preference !! Out of the box Deco S7 (2pack) is little costly over two C6 or A6 routers but they are really easy to setup and supported by 3 years warranty !! Thanks.

      Sir the version of c6 that is being sold these days does not have openwrt support because chipset have changed and flash memory and ram is reduced so basically you cant run ddwrt or openwrt on them so i would probably go for the deco solution anything else which is viable and less cheaper ??

    • @LazyTourer
      @LazyTourer Před 14 dny

      Hello, At present, on this given date, deco solutions are the cheapest possible options which work properly. Especially the model I mentioned, as it has the option of wired backhaul. And I too have noticed, as you mentioned, in last few months, most of these lower end WiFi5 hardware & their companies have declared war against open source firmwares. They have greatly reduced the RAM & ROM size to ensure no openwrt or ddwrt compatibility. However, deco models have become cheap & giving support for wired lan backhaul. Atleast that solves one of the main need of OpenWRT. Thanks

In fact, Maruti Ritz is sportier inside with descent exteriors, and the reverse is noticed in Maruti Swift 1st gen, otherwise Maruti Ritz is based on the body on Maruti Swift 1st gen but is made jointly by GM and Opel. So Maruti Ritz is partly Japanese and partly German. You can recall its German Rebadge Opel Agila.

    The video is very clear confined to the point of building a server with all necessary details. Thanks for making one possible. I have few quick questions. 1) I wanted to build this as home file server (with each individual can set their own creds) would that be possible by any way? 2) Can I use RAID5 with 4 HDDS of different sizes like one 500gb SSD, 2x 8TB (7200, 256 cache SATA III), One 6TB (7200, 128 cache sata iii)? If so, howmuch it would cost more?

    • @LazyTourer
      @LazyTourer Před 2 měsíci

      Hey, Thanks for the appropriation. Servers are purposed built and depending on use case, one would modify software and hardware. If you may notice, in this example, I have used a bare minimum, almost 20 year old configuration for demonstration. If your configuration allows much modern high core count and more RAM (mainly RAM matters), then consider deploying VMs. Nextcloud supports federated shares so two separate nextcloud instances can share between each other. Seperate VM will allow you to put vdisk on seperate physical HDDs. RAID can be handled by the hypervisor in this case. Now, regarding mismatch of HDD, remember, mirror raids needs similar size, else the lowest size will only be usable. For striping, any size can do, but it's super risky as one disk failing will kill the entire raid. Thanks

How can assign DHCP when I'm using phone's hotspot? , ALSO you skipped explaining the network setup 15:34 and how can i connect my pc to internet when I'm using hotspot it doesn't even make sence. Maybe I'm not getting what you are trying to explain. Give some time to explain my query, PLEASE

    • @LazyTourer
      @LazyTourer Před 4 měsíci

      Hello, Brother, when you are using a hotspot, suppose from your mobile phone, that phone itself acts as "router" with its own NAT DHCP Server inside. When a WiFi client is connecting to that phone's hotpot, it will treat that as just another router. In simple words, turning on hotpot in your phone turns that phone into a WiFi router. Now I am unable to understand the second part of your question, please elaborate as what do you mean by connecting your PC to internet? Thanks

Appreciate your reply sir 🙏🏻

    • @LazyTourer
      @LazyTourer Před 4 měsíci

      Hello, Most of the mobile hotspots doesnt have this advance router feature in their hotspot software (OS ROM). Many custom android roms do allow you such MAC ID based DHCP IP assignment in their hotspot software but in case of standard Android ROMs, you wont have this feature. Work around is to visit the mobile hotspot page in your mobile and check what IP it has assigned the to the PC. This LAN IP wont be static and may keep changing with every time you connect and disconnect from hotspot. Internet access to the server wont be affected since that will be using your domain name via cloudflare tunnel, so it doesn't care about your local setup but local access will have to use that changed IP. Thanks.

      Hello, These are two different guides showing two different ways of accessing your home lab server or self hosted services out from internet in case you don't have Public IP from your ISP. Port forwarding works only when you have Public IP. So if you have Public IP then you don't need AWS VPN Tunnel or CloudFlare Tunnel for this work. You can access your self hosted server & service directly via your Public IP with port forwarding. So, tell me, do you have Public IP available from your ISP? Thanks
