This is a Fucati 959 panigale that has a crank but no start issue. The bike suddenly lost power and started to misfire on occasion. After riding back to the paddock at cadwell park race circuit the engine would not restart, and there are no error codes logged with the ecu.

christ, that tank. my gorgeous duke, same colour as this won't start. nothing at all on the button. been standing ten years in the dining room, haha. didn't know of the button for the choke. DOH! new battery, solenoid. bugger. think it must be wiring issues, can't hear the pump or the solenoid click, it will turn over when bridging across the nuts. there's one cable i need to trace back that has no power, no ohms.
Is the engine kill switch set to run ?
@@PXCBIKES yes, always aware of that when i got caught out once while i was out on it, came to a standstill. took me ten minutes to realise what i had done. going to check the stand switch today as the pump would come on when i raised the stand, now nothing. sort of ruling out the pump as neither it or the switch are working well the switch is working as i tested with a multi meter, just nothing happening.
@kennethtalbott2233 oh you can short out the two wires coming from the harness and see if that helps
@@PXCBIKES yes, i'm going to put a loop in the end to connect both cables together, don't want to cut the cable. i think we are both thinking the same way. ta.
What about top dead center on cylinders 1&4 and 2&3. You can skip cams 180 degrees. You have to know first in which position are cylinders im struggling with thst dont want fuck up the engine.
Sorry pal not sure what you mean skip cams there are timing marks in the flywheel for the position of the crank and if you are unsure just insert a long screwdriver into the cylinders and turn the crank around until the screwdriver reaches the very top and stops... that is your top dead center but check the marks in the flywheel
@@PXCBIKES i had top dead on 2&3 so was confused but i managed. two rotations of crankshaft 720 degree puts cams on two different positions. in order to get your steps cylinder 1&4 has to be on top dead center to get the cams right but if you rotate it again 360 degree cams get on different position. thats what i meant in the first place. Gsxr 600 and k5 1000 here. Those engines if maintained and cared well are indestructible. For this job you have to be on point, took me two afternoons to do not fup. Great stuff, im just adding so ppl can see if they get in doubt. Took me thinking and thinking, questions in head all over the place when you do it the first time. Suzuki love
I just got back to Australia from Bamberg. I watched this video before I left and it just popped up again in my feed. That Schenkerla is the greatest Beer known to man. I came home and ordered all the cases I could online that are stocked in Australia. Lol. Me and my wife got pretty drunk in Bamberg. They serve the Schenkerla straight out the Barrel at the Brewery. And the old pub is amazing. We had a great time. You guys make good content. I loved Germany. Not just the Beer. Lol
Thank you man glad you both had a good time... Yeh the Smoked beer is my favorite for sure we went back there last year and then travelled to Munich too. We can get Schlenkerla beer at our local pub here in the UK it is the only pub that sells it by the bottle or keg. We do prefer travelling and drinking to motorbikes 😁🍻
If you have a ticking noise is that likely from it having to large a gap or too small? Which direction would u adjust within the range of spec to limit ticking?
It is when the gap is too large this usually occurs when the engine is hot as the components expand with the heat....
Put them all into spec if the limit is between 0.10 to 0.20 then set them to 0.19 or 0.20
@@PXCBIKES thank u sir
Brilliant video !!!!! Best tutorial i ever watched on CZcams!!!!
That's good to know ... yes I have watched a few but I like to cover as much as possible with my videos 📹 thank you
original Ducati yellow 748/916/996 bikes had the fairings & tank painted in Ducati red first then yellow
I bet the painter was passed off
Can you elabroate on the path the fuel takes and the purpose of the degaser and fuel return lines? It's unclear to me. If you did have to replace the smaller hoses (5mm and 7mm) in the assembly, where would you source them? Thanks.
Great video mate thank you
Great video !
Thank you 🫡
I could quite happily ride an Aprilia for the rest of my life and nothing else. Sold my RSV4 RF and regretted it ever since, so my next bike(i've had a break for a few years and enjoyed the warmth of a car during the winters for a change) is definitely either gonna be an early RSV4 or a gen 2 RSV1000R
Yeh, it's the same with my Mille R it never disappoints me at all, and I could tour on that bike for sure... they are very underrated
can u go far on these ? has iv got mt125
Erm I am not sure as I have only rode this bike once and I did not go far but it should do about 100 mile to the tank at least
Are they reliable
They are if they are looked after yeh
I love my rsv and you are so accurate with your review compared to my own findings over the years...brilliant
Thank you it has to be the most reliable and exciting bike we have ever owned
I’ve had some lovely Bikes over my 40 years riding but I’ve stuck with this beauty for many years now because it suits me and my riding style
@Skon1965 yeh and its awesome during the cooler seasons when the heat from the silencers keep your legs warm
Bought a 2009 RS 125 here in the U.S. Rare here since they only imported a few hundred. Mine was street kitted and is rode legal. 34 mm carb, Vortex reed, pneumatic power valve, and TYGA exhaust. It has done 1400 miles, and it's a bike I have always wanted. Most say it's one of the funniest bikes I have owned to date.
Yes, it took me a while to get into it... but I actually enjoyed it in the end, and with a big bore kit fitted, these can be loads of fun
Awesome video really appreciate it I was wondering if you have to coat cams and cam journeys with oil or moly lube before starting Thank you
Hello yes absolutely just use engine oil 🛢 🙂
my side stand has a cable that goes between the 3 wire plug and the 2 wire plug. I thought it was weird but when I removed it the bike would cut off with the stand up. So I put it back and figured I was just wrong. 2002 620ie
Really 🤔 I have never seen that ....it must be an adapter cable for the harness ..so one of those wires will be bridged into one
great video might see you this year
Thank you ... yeh, we are booked in racing Modern over 40's look out for the big black Dirtshifter Tent 👍
I try this settings. With Stock Exhaust nothing With GPR Exhaust poppig and backfire Sounds. But that is normal ( aftermarket Exhaust) or? Thank you❤
Very good vid mate!
Thank you very much... 🙂
Loved owning one of those, the handling was solid and fueling was sublime
Yeh I don't think I will ever sell mine it's such a great overall bike for sure
First of all, excellent video, plan to make my own tools also, you’re a man after my own heart. Like to get my tools made before I tear into these and while I wait for seals to arrive. What’s the gap on the sprayer spanner to remove and hold the locking nut? Also the gap on the holder that is bolted to work bench that holds the cap while you push down on the compressor, and finally the measurement of the u bracket on the spring compressor, the pin to pin measurement. Ballpark measurements will do. Again thank you for video, very well done. I own 2 k2 1000s, one street, and one track, and fork seals need love. Love these bikes, it’s the closest thing to riding a video game in real life. Been hooked on hyper bikes for 45years, and i think its keeping me young, over here across the pond.
Hello, Thank you for watching. I like to inspire people to do their own work.. Unfortunately, it was two years ago when I published this video, and I don't have the tools anymore.. The best way is to measure the components on the forks, but I just used pieces of scrap metal and parts I had lying around. Hope this helps.
Thanks for this video. I am getting my old Superhawk up and running again after a few years of sitting in the garage. This video helps immensely. I have the 1999 yellow version.
Fantastic... I'm glad these videos help you. Yellow ones look the best 👌
Really grateful for those top tips, cheers dude, doing my belts for first time shortly, bit more confident now having watched your video.
That's fantastic glad to hear it ... the dayci belts that I use here are a tight fit... but the best ones are Gates power grip these are what Ducati use ... Gates make the belts for Ducati as OEM.. I did fit Gates ones instead of these
Brilliant video thank you
Thank you for watching glad it helped you 🙂
There is some kind of white restrictor on the ventilation hose. Maybe it makes sense to remove it and put a larger hose directly on the fitting on the tank?
Oh, I have not seen that, but tank ventilation is very important, especially with carburettor engines
Is this the factory exhaust from the Japanese version or from the superhawk?
It's just the factory standard exhaust jap bike
So they get tighter as they wear or looser
Tighter... the shims will wear and also the valves can wear on the seat if the clearances are not adjusted
So when I get the new shims they have to be bigger than the ones on there if they are too tight or smaller
If the gap is tight, then the shim has to be smaller.. check out part 2. I explain it there
Thanks for the up load . Was in that !
Oh thank you for watching 👀 🤜🤛
Black n red , of course , rsv 9 .
Flew alla way from Daytona Beach for that
@jerrylagesse9046 😲 wow that's a long way are you coming again
My arm has been twisted . Not sure at this time . Know Griff from ap workshops , Tamworth so .
The 748 used to race in yellow so it's actually more "correct" for this model to be yellow as opposed to red
hi, my 2006 yamaha fz6 s1 was c1:-2 c2:+15, now that I've put c1:+8 c2:12 what will change? does it go a little louder at bass? consume less or more?
Great clip !! Thanx . Really interesting content .
Thank you for your interest, Troy 👍
Hi love the bike have a question I have a 98 srad 750 it’s overheating on me I charge the thermostat the fan comes on when the temperature hit 225/230 but it still get hot can you give me some advice please thank you
Oh then you could have failed water pump... or blocked hoses.. or a blown head gasket
I noticed you dropped your front end quite a bit.. did you notice much improvement in terms of handling etc?
It handled great and turned very well... but it depends on your riding style, etc... but it did help it turn in better than before
@@PXCBIKESim coming from an R6 so Im very much used to an aggressive ride style and prefer it…i have renthal super bike flat bars on my fz6 and its an improvement but just needs that little extra
@ZeldasGhost yeh with flat bars I would recommend dropping it so you ain't forcing it round corners but don't drop it too much
15w-50 is the recommended oil you should use in these bikes
Well you ain't wrong but, is is best to use 10/50 in warmer climates and 10/40 in cooler ones ... I am using 10/40 just to help flush out the engine for the next oil change after 100miles then it should be good to go
That’s a nice example had one in red bulletproof
Yeh mine had no problems at all 7 years I owned it
Cheers fella, solved my problem too.
Briliant makes me feel proud 👏
Stunning bike 👍👍👍
Absolutely love your workmanship👍 top draw
Thank you pal that's much appreciated 👍
Eh up mate. What bars are you running?
Eyup pal they were Renthal bars I think I don't have the bike anymore
Absolute quality work again 👍👍👍👍
Thank you very much pal 👍
Did it warp from heat ya think???
Absolutely yes it would
Thanx dude !! Awsome flush and great knowledgeable tips .
Thanks alot 🤙
Could have tried freezing it with dry ice , it makes the glue fracture
Oh yeh, it's a bit late now, but I could have tried that 🤔
Very vice bike my old fzr 600r is sold and i whant to a Srad 600 but i hope got one with inj.good video only the music 🤔
The SRAD is a briliant bike for sure... but it is only the 98 onwards 750 that in fuel injection and the 600 is carburettor... I also had an FZ6 and it was a very impressive bike for sure
that aliexpress exhaust looks horrible
😅😅 it's a bit of a stumper isn't it 😄
If anyone knows how to fix the broken one please help me out. Broken plastic left inside there. I can’t get it out. I ordered new metal ones to install it in. Plastic ones are seem too fragile.
Hi it should just break out or heat it up then press in a large flat screwdriver and turn it out you will have to remove the fuel pump
Absolutely loving this channel, quality workmanship and explanation, top draw 👍👍👍👍👍
Wow thank you so much 🤜🤛
Afternoon my friend I also have had the same problem with 748s tank with rust. I made a plug for bottom of my tank and used the Electrolysis form of rust removal system and coated the inside of the tank with a Product called RedCoat. Its now been 7yrs and not a scrap of Rust has returned, Good luck with project, Steve (Australia)
That's good to know 👍 thanks I was wondering what product would work for many years 😀... and Greetings from Barnsley
I spent a couple of evenings struggling with mine. Wish I'd found your videos when I needed them 👍🇦🇺
Ah, well, now you have the videos ... fow when you need to do it again 😀
Hi
👋 hi
@ 4:45 you could use a small inspection mirror to help look at the timing marks too. I work on many Audi/VW car 1.8t four cylinder engines and the mirrors help to look at hard to access places.
Bloody hell wish j thought of that 🤔 yes 👍
