    6:00 There is also the a brilliant move Rxd6. Stockfish says Black can't play Qxd6 because then White is +4.11.

    I prefer learning Chess Principles rather than openings. I find openings difficult because my opponent always does something totally different which means you have your plan ruined.

    At 6:53, you don't promote the pawn when they intercede with the rook; you take the rook and when they recapture, THEN you promote to a queen--with check.

      while that is correct move, they won't recapture the rook, they'll take your pawn on e2 then you'll take their pawn on h3

    I played this opening for a decade. Objectively, it's a poor & incorrect defense. Both the f4 Qa5 and h3 Bh5 Qe2 variations are much better for white.

      You're right, and I would be trading a piece and a rook for the queen, which is good. But I guess this proves my point even more that you can still win even if you miss certain combinations. Thx a lot for the comment!!

    I played this a lot, either the Czech or other variation, also from Rob Ramirez. One note. I've almost never ever had anyone fall for the queen a5 pin. By this point, I'd probably opt to just put my queen on c7.

      @@WhatTheForkChess If I remember correctly, he suggests it more for speed chess games. Also, I think it's a waste of tempo for both sides, so it doesn't hurt to play it. Black moves its queen back to c7 and white needs to move its bishop as well. I just immediately expect to move the queen back.
