Georgia on My Mind (Hoagy Carmichael/Stuart Gorrell)
Georgia On My Mind - Some debate as to whether Stuart Gorrell wrote the lyrics for the State of Georgia, or Hoagy Carmichael's sister Georgia. There is no doubt that either way, Hoagy and Stuart wrote one of the great songs...

This song was written while living on Gabriola Island and listening to the great band of retired professional players who lived there jam in a club facing the town circle. Thrilling!
All I Have To Do Is Dream (Boudleaux Bryant) Tim and Carol-Lou

We were 3000 miles apart when Carol and I began to talk seriously to one another. We discovered a mutual love of harmonies sung by the likes of Simon and Garfunkel, The Everly Brothers, and Kate and Anna McGarrigle and ended up singing this one together over the phone. Soon after that we took the big leap and got together. We have been enjoying singing at close range ever since!

To forestall the winter blahhs, Carol-Lou and I decided to make a video of Richard Farina's brilliant song "Pack Up Your Sorrows." It was my pleasure to work with Mimi Farina a couple of times and to enjoy her performances of the song. We had a lot of fun shooting this video, there's even an O.Henry ending!

MAP vol. 2 Music, Art, Peace When I was young, the sheet music for this tune sat on our piano for a long while. On it this is an iconic graphic of Audrey Hepburn which has stuck in my mind all these years... Written of course by Johnny Mercer and Henry Mancini

This song of mine from the album "Backporch Confidential" was Carol's and my choice or what to play on Play Music On The Porch Day. We joined up last year and posted then for the first time and then decided to support the notion through their site. What a wonderful, glorious idea!
Photos From Summerfolk 1976 by Rodger Tippin

My oldest friend Rodger Tippin, a great drummer, is also a fine photographer. He was part of the the first volunteer team at Summerfolk in it's first year, 1976. Through a series of mishaps and basement floods, much of his Summerfolk photography was lost but this video contains photos that, gratefully, were spared. There are some blurry ones and some pristine ones, but they all express the feel...

Jean Edwards, my wife Carol's mom, turned 99 years old April 27/23. Jean had a nursing career all her life and raised 3 children with her husband Wally. Music was woven into their life together as both were proficient readers of music and played by ear. Jean and Wally put bands together and regularly played in retirement communities and at other public events. Since Carol and I have been togeth...

Tim Harrison - Lap Steel - Dylan's I Shall Be Released
zhlédnutí 1KPřed rokem
Obsession with modifying the Recording King lap steel and learning to play it has not been lifted. After installing Certano benders, replacing tuners with Vintage Grovers, and replacing pickup, the latest mod is new volume and tone controls replacing the old pots with a better grade and soldering them into place. My respect for all players of various slide guitars has grown enormously, and I am...
Tim Harrison - Amazing Grace on Lap Steel (see the story below)

So...the last of the Covid obsessions (I think). A few months ago I got intrigued with watching videos about the lap steel guitar...always have loved the sound of lap steel and pedal steel. I came across a video by a fellow named Troy Brenningmeyer who is a lap/pedal steel teacher and he was talking about a modification he did to an inexpensive lap steel, installing benders on strings 2 and 3. ...

Folks! This is a wonderful little cover and an ever more beautiful story. Music truly brings people together.
Love- pure simple love - and then there's beautiful music to go with it!
Lovely!! Thanks for sharing this. Found another further down the page while listening. It's on the playlist for later when I'll definitely need a break from all the news and political crap to which I subject myself. 😉 😊🤙🏼🎶❤️✨️🕊
Beautiful song very well performed. All the best poets of our time write songs. I love winter and this describes at least some aspects of it very well. ❤
Beautiful song! ✨ Saludos desde México:)
Thank you!
Thank you for posting ! This song must have been the first track of his memorial first LP album ,which also included the song "turnaround" , isn't it . I recall those days we were talking on this album ,eapecially concerning on late Stan Rogers at the corner of record-music cafe in Japan ,, so fareast ! I could also purchased Tm's second cd album later ,and it was excellent either.
It's one of the best songs I have heard for the last 50 years
I love this song! I first heard it when gathering songs about Thanksgiving to produce a radio show I host. Wheatfield with Crows CD was in our station's library. The title came up on a computer search with songs that had Thanksgiving in the title. This is my favorite that I used on the show. Kudos to Tim for writing, singing, and masterfully playing.
Glad you like the song, and thanks so much for the airplay...
The answer, my friend, appears to be pi
Yes, some things are constant. All we can do is "lean to the good."
So are you using open D tuning? and how are the benders configured? Just curious, thanks!
Tuning is DADF#AD and benders are on the 3rd string, F#, set at half-step bend, and the 2nd string, A, set for a whole tone bend.
Love this. Thank you for sharing Tim and Carol. Greetings from Perez Zeledon, Costa Rica. Abrazos! Rob Lyons.
Just came across this by chance. I love it! Thanks for opening it and allowing us to relive it. I was certainly there, on the hospitality crew, though I had left Owen Sound that summer. I recognize that cover picture, that was the picture I used for the cover of the 77 program. Good work Tim.
Love this - just beautiful. I play a little and am always looking for new tunes to try. Thanks for sharing
Fantastic! Thanks so much for sharing! I hope to get this good!
Enjoy your playing!

This is a great song!! I've just heard it today. I will share to our group members.
What tuning is the guitar in here?
Open D - DADF#AD
@@timharrisonmusic thank you!
We’re the vintage Grover tuners a perfect fit?
I had to drill out very slightly to match the new tuners, but the screw holes were an exact fit. The Recording King wood is a little punky...my only complaint. For instance I had to use epoxy to hold the benders, but they are quite secure and have taken a lot of pressure while playing.
@@timharrisonmusic How exactly did you use the epoxy?
@@michaelfenemore1168 The Certano benders weren't holding so I filled the screw holes with epoxy and reset the screws...did not use epoxy on the surface of the benders or guitar. They have held well...no movement at all.
@@timharrisonmusic Maybe, your pilot holes were too big? The Recording King website says the guitar body is solid mahogany. Are the screws supplied with the benders a little too short?
@@michaelfenemore1168 "Solid" is in the eye of the beholder. I'm not the only one here who's had issues with the quality of the mahogany involved. When you drill and get Fibre instead of shavings you know there are issues.
Does you guitar have a humbucker or the P-90?
It's a stacked soapbar P90...has 2 coils like a humbucker...wired together you get a less noisy P90-like sound which is the configuration I have with the coils simply wired together. You could put a switch on and use just the P90 coil but that didn't really appeal to me.
@@timharrisonmusic That’s not the stock pickup then, is it? Did you replace the original? Is it a Seymour Duncan P-90 stack?
@@michaelfenemore1168 it's a Trev Wilkinson...made in China...$30...nice clear highs, great bottom end.
Sweet slant control harmonizing the 1st & 3rd, then 1st & 2nd. Nerves of 'steel', literally & figuratively....just saying!
Nice...
I like the idea of benders on certain strings. I am gonna build a pedal steel. I want it to sound as sweet.
It just occurred to me Dianne, many of Leon’s routine steps you so beautifully integrate into improvisation! I love it and you!
Tim Harrison and the river and the voice of the loving masculine mystic like a musical mentor fatherly figure.
