I hate IG I thought it was supposed to do something to favor smaller accounts & push content to non followers? I think it’s rigged and they are deleting my followers. I stayed at the same following forever & now it’s dropping by the day? I use to get great views & engagement on videos a year ago and now it’s downhill. TikTok has fallen too but it’s gotten better since I started back but the views aren’t half of what they use to be. They are making everything so complicated. That’s why nothing beats word of mouth if you’re promoting a business. I was just posting for fun & they took the excitement away from that. If it feels like a job I don’t want it!

So they want us to jump through more hoops to please them and fall into line, spending less time crafting our own business, art, product, and more time wanking the IG monster. I've been on the app since it was launched and have less and less desire to use it, not because it's not the fun app it used to be, but because they want everyone to be the same by following the same format. Hardpass.

This is what I’ve heard and want to know the correct answer. It seems that if I only follow and consume content from others in the same niche I’m not reaching my target audience. Should I unfollow those outside of my focus?

I wish you could use reveal to make them click on the reel link u put in a story to promote ur reel. so they have to actually go to the Real and watch that because when you get likes on the story it’s annoying that expires after 24 hours your left with the reel on your profile and it looks like you didn’t get any likes for it down the line

Really appreciate your content, but this is relative, even within the same industry. I just had a very respected professional in publishing say that agents and publishers expect nonfiction writers to have at least 10k followers (social media or email list). Nonfic books (not talking academic, different niche) are sold on author's expertise and cultivation of a potential readership. This is not expected of fiction writers who sell a fictional story, nor of poets (well, it's rare they make much money; they aren't agented; and can easily self-publish). So, yeah, even within the same industry, this is relative. (Also, kindly, volume was a bit low on this video.)

Great content, thank you! I used my old account for a job I had and followed/unfollowed…the account has about 300 followers and most were gotten this way years ago. Only a few posts made years ago as well, but now about to launch in slightly different niche (coaching to spirituality). According to the video one technique is that I could remove these followers but creating a new account seems faster/cleaner. Is there any algorithmic disadvantage to a new account, like do brand new account not rank as high?

Have you tested boosting posts for new followers vs traffic campaign for new followers in ads manager? I know u recommend using ads manager but the online coaches and consultants i have learnt from all use boost post option to get new followrs then fb optimises over time as it learns who they are targeting. What you are saying opposed that

I'm a fiber artist and we have these events where everybody follow and comment on other posts under the specific hashtag for the event. But now I'm hearing that this isn't good anymore, because algorithm count it as artificially boosting engagement. Do you have any information about that? With the new changes, and views valued more than followers Instagram looks less and less like comunity app and more as way to reach strangers. At least that's how I feel it!

I wish I had this video back when I was starting. I was so mad because I had great content but wasn't getting any attention. 1k was mission impossible. I was lucky when I found out I can boost my channel with initial subs just enough to start getting noticed. I got myself first couple of hundred subs for very low price (personally used Fame- Ster). After that my main channel gain a ton of organic traffic.
