Little Palmetto bugs? They're huge!!! I lived in Columbia for 3 years starting in the fall right after that huge flood. My car got more dents from other people that i ever did in Chicago. Yes to high insurance. And my 2015 car was majorly taxed. On the other hand mostly a good experience and have met some great friends! The heat and humidity! Ugh! I loved the downtown area. Try out Trinity East Church is awesome, check it out!

I've lived between the white knoll area and 44 truck stop for basically my whole life. I truly feel that if we knew that this area was going to grow so much, we would have moved even further out. It was peaceful in the 80's, and even 90's.. but now, it's just constant noise when you walk outside despite living out in the woods.

What the name of this floor plan? I really like this floor plan but having trouble finding ones like it, please advise!

CRIME?? SAFE AREAS

I visited Columbia this March, as for the restaurants, I can say that the healthy food is a challenge. Everything is fried, breaded and has tons of calories. As for location, the author said it himself. Few hours drive to everything :) There are kids activities, like children's museum and the zoo. They are cool places to spend a day. The summer could be really hot. There are museums and places of historical interest, parks and nature sights. And yes, you need to drive there too for 40-60 minutes. If you're attracted with the cost of living, mind the salaries too. In general, it's a good city where nothing much happens if you like places where the life is slow.

House is pretty cheap. Worth the price. 40 mins from Columbia, under 2 hours from charlotte and an hour from Greenville!

Just watched your videos on best reasons to live in Columbia. Then watched the one about reasons not to. My fiancé and I want to move to SC. Originally looked at Spartanburg. Wasn’t really what we wanted. Then Charleston, because my best friend is there, and I loved it when I went down years ago. Columbia was suggested by a friend. I’m a chef, and my fiancé is a producer for independent/Christian film. We loved your videos. We are currently in Pennsylvania (Philly suburbs) and can’t wait to move down when we can!

for phoenix for example if you bought a house at the peak of the housing bubble in 2006, you would not be able to sell it for the same price until 2019. unless you plan on buying a house and staying there for at least 15 years or more, timing the market matters! what you said is common bs i hear real estate agents tell people to get their business and more sales, its an argument that serves your self interest and not necessarily the truth

I've been in Columbia since 2020. It's a pretty big city with a down-to-earth feel. Columbia has city, suburbs and countryside. You can't beat that. I was totally shocked to find that people actually speak and have respect. Cost of living is nice, AND I make the same salary-wise that I made in Harrisburg, PA, but paid twice as much in PA as far as housing and all.
