European racism, European capitalism/power base and European religion have been the unholy trinity since the Catholic Church got into bed with the Roman state and started to persecute the Jews. Just as it is biblical theology that has been the implicit justification for the Holocaust, Apartheid, homophobia, misogyny, colonialism and slavery so it is biblical theology that maintains the social injustices that continue to flow from these evils. We either need a radically revolution in theology or maybe we need to challenge the hegemony of religion all together.

A friend of mine who is Muslim asked me recently why I gravitated to Buddhism and not Islam. I wanted to tell him because Islam treats the religion of my ancestors, their deities/orixa and the rituals they built around appreciating nature and ancestors the same way European Christians does.
