I have an original sales brochure for the U.S. CT-70 K1 and CT-70H K1. The 3-speed semi-auto and 4-manual (H) were both available in either “Ruby Red” or “Special Yellow”. By-the-way, the CT-70H K1 was the last model CT-70 Honda made the 4-speed manual available !!
You said the CT-70 K1 came from Las Vegas, Nevada, USA… Did you “roll the dice” in order to “win it” ?? 🃏🤣

The Ruby Red looks factory !! You said, your “… good mate Paul…” did the paint work, did he replicate the candy color process with a silver base-coat and a translucent red, with multiple top-coats ??

I still have my Candy Gold CT-70 bought when I was 13-yrs old. I took a look under the seat and can tell you, Honda used that white cable tie to secure the whole bundle of wire connectors to the upper shock mount rod.

Those “bloody” big taillight lenses were on the second generation U.S. model Trail 70s, designated as CT-70 K1 and CT70H K1, and like you said were used by Honda on their whole lineup including the CB-750s! Huge and ugly. The next generation, K2s, were more size appropriate. Hard to beat the first models, the K0s, for looks!

@@monkeyroo8740 I’ve thought it would be “cool” to have a Chaly in the collection, however like you say, those were never sold in the States. Similarly, the new Honda ST-125 isn’t available over here. Have you had a chance to see and ride one of those?
@@donsoule6411 I've had a,look at one at our local dealers. Hoping to get one in the blue this year. Not as nice looking as the original ones. But for commuting to work there ideal. And use the original ones at weekends. It's crazy they don't sell them in the US. I think they would sell like hot cakes
@@monkeyroo8740 I agree with you on the look of the new ST-125 Dax. A bit too modern looking for us “Old Farts”. Maybe Honda is doing market studies and deciding on manufacturing capabilities before introducing a U.S/North America version.

Nice to see a red Z50J. I am almost finished restoring a 1980 model in Australia. I had a spare engine so I was looking for a frame with a compliance plate. I found a wreck with no engine. It had a rolling chassis and a few useful parts. I got a tab welded on to the frame to holda 12v igntion coil then had the frame media blasted and powdercoated along with the wheel hubs and backing plates. The tank and forks were media blasted and painted Tahitian red. The only re-usable parts from the wreck were the frame, forks, tank, rear rack, petrol cap and a few nuts and bolts. All parts such as nuts and bolts, handlebars, seat, chainguard footpegs etc etc are OEM Honda. The engine is a Takegawa 124cc twin spark superhead +R crate engine with a 5 speed touring transmission and superclutch, Over up-pipe, and yoshimura 24mm semi-downdraught carb. It has an under the tank oli cooler and a toolbox mounted oil catch can for the head and crankcase breathers. The forks have Daytona inner dampers. The swingarm is a G-Craft 2 inches longer than stock black painted alloy tubular that looks the same as stock (to position the rear wheel in perfect alignmnet with the rear mudguard and to reduce unwanted wheelies). It has Ohlins shocks made specifically for Z50's. I have tried to keep it as stock looking as possible, retaining all the standard controls, wheels, forks. The main visual comprimise I had to make was for the oil cooler and rear shock because the engine has 18hp and needs good cooling and shocks that can handle the power. The other comprimise I had to make was the seat. I could not find an original one and ended up with one the same, excpet for silver piping. I heard you got your seat cover from Australia. Who did you get it from? Cheers.
Hiya buddy, and cheers. Yeah this was a barn find, but wasn't to bad as I was all there. Had it powdercoated, except the tank which I've kept original, have you seen the video of me coming off it. Was quite funny tbh..such a little bike can still suprise a rider. Yeah , I struggled to find an original honda seat cover. But was lucky to find this one on ebay. I'll have a look to see if I can still find it and send you the ebay item number
@@monkeyroo8740 Nice wheelie! Good thing you did that BEFORE you restored it. For me original, unmodified and unrestored is the holy grail. Thankfully most OEM parts are still available (at a premium) for restorations. I still have the original seat with foam and base in good condition. Will be great to get another original part back onto the bike. An all black seat cover will look way less gay than the one I have with silver piping and logo.

Good to see you showing others what to do with the handlebar screw-knobs. I’ve always used a nickel base anti-seize on all my bikes screw-knobs and a silicon grease on any threaded fasteners screwed into aluminum parts.

I agree with you about the luggage rack making it easier to grasp onto when moving the bike around and I’ve always thought it helps to protect the tail light lens from damage as well.

I recently bought a yamaha yds7 250, it cost me a few bob but it was one of my first bikes as a 16 year old, in 1971, still ride on a dry sunny day takes me back to my youth, you have a Great example of your bike, really enjoyed the vlog cheers .

That’s a large collection! I use to have a Honda Chaly, I got given it by some friends back in the late 90’s, it had been laid up under a plastic sheet for years and the engine had partially seized and the bike was rusty in many places. I got it going, did the MOT work, tidied it up and used it for commuting to work, 3 speed auto mine had the square headlamp like your green one, reg was JGE 9**Y not sure if it’s still exists, hopefully it does. Would a Honda Innova 125 engine fit in the DAX or Chaly?

Nice one! I did fancy getting one of these but decided on an Ebike instead(can’t take a PC50 on a cycle path). Those horses looked a bit irritated that you were riding around their patch lol. Hope you do decide to put it on the road mate, it’s good to see something different on the road being used for what it was intended. I’ll be using my Suzuki CS50 as soon as it’s ready for the road.

@@monkeyroo8740 Thanks, I’ve had difficulties in the past with 50cc mopeds trying to get the bike to run right due to carb trouble, I just couldn’t find a way of successfully cleaning the carb out, I’ve used carb cleaner but with limited success. I guess you need an air line(which I don’t have access to or a sonic cleaner.
