Mike Pinder’s writing ,vocals and playing were as good as it gets. E.g. if not for Mike’s intro to Nights in White Satin, even Justin Hayward has said it wouldn’t the song it became.

Loved the Moody Blues for about 55 years (or earlier, since first hearing Nights in White Satin, not their earlier hit Go Now!). Didn’t realize the somewhat-subtle Christian/Jesus references until later, especially when hearing how deeply christian Mike Pinder was (and some of the others were/are ). Personally, not thrilled at all with the Christian references (subtle, or otherwise) threaded through some of the lyrics, like here in Mike Pinder’s work, or like in Seventh Sojourn, in some of John Lodge’s songs, etc. I just try to ignore or re-imagine these spots in the lyrics. Not a fan of Jesus, or the religion.

Skipped over the bit of straight jazz in between the ambient shit and the begining and when the insturmental really kicks in. Great stuff though. Was initially kinda skeptical since not a jazz fusion fan but comes together very nicely.
