I've had many hours of education built into my treatment using feldenkrais as a modality. This approach is similar. It's a lifetime of habituation that can not be changed by quick fix. Body awareness and rehabituating.

I have been swimming for over 30 years as an adult. I also have had a lumbar fusion surgery due to spina bifida occulta eventually leading to listing. I still swim even after the surgery which was about 15 years ago. I have learned that swimming freestyle properly is primarily an upper body exercise. My legs do very little work unless I put on fins. In those 30 years I also rode my bike and ran, so yes, I was a triathlete. Lifting your head while swimming is a big No-no, you breathe to the side. Using hand paddles and a pull buoy are really good for helping to develop the strength and endurance in the upper body musculature that will make anyone really enjoy this activity. Furthermore water supports ones body and the movements of swimming stimulate and relax the small muscles in the spine that can get tired. After a long day I always felt better after a swim than before I got in the pool.

Doctor, i have cervical and lumbar spinal stenosis Scoliosis. My ortho surgeon wanted to operate and place 2 bers along my spine..but i was told by a nother doctor that that puts alot of pressure on the spine, and if i should fall that's even worse, so he said Stem Cell therapy would be best for my condition, but the i listed to your chamnel and feel this may help even better. I'm not sure about anything but need to do something ,for my poor pinchedspinal cord😢

Elementary backstroke with occasional use of back floatie (start with that at the beginning). Takes the lower back muscles completely out of the picture, and core muscles kick in right away you want it or not (to keep your upper body and legs as “horizontal” as possible, also triggers your hip flexors like crazy). Learned this from a profesional therapist from New England Patriots, and fixed my lower back issues in no time.

This is the BEST SI explanation I've ever heard! I have Psoriatic Arthritis which has ravaged soft tissues in the SI and hip area. Ligaments were stretched and their attachment points broke down and nerve sheaths shredded by my autoimmune system. This is what a pain doctor told me. HOWEVER, THIS VIDEO GAVE ME A VISUAL OF INSIDE THE SI AREA AND INFORMATION IN LAYMAN'S TERMS WHICH HELPED ME picture what I'm really dealing with. NOW I UNDERSTAND! NOW I CAN MOVE FORWARD AND WORK TOWARD HEALING THE ENTIRE AREA. Thank you for this outstanding video! May God bless you.

Doc, These are hard especially for the poorly trained individuals. I have dextroscoliosis at 25 degrees which in mixed opionions form Orto doctors a result of a fractured femur at 15 years old in 1966 playing HS Football. When the Body cast was cutoff after 3 months (with 6 weeks in Traction in the hospital first), the doctor saw instantly that my right leg was 1 " shorter. That was left Unaddressed for decades until about 20 years later when the stiff lower back was erupting. The Chiropractor that I saw then , said as soon as I enetred the office that "Man, You have problems, and will have more problems down the road". Boy oh Boy, was He Right!!.I fianlly applied a semi fix to my business shoes but was only a 1/2". Over the years, Sacroilitis (Si Joint Inflammation) and the hips out of kilter by the LLD, traversed up the spine to the Cervical Spine. Then in 2012 after the first of many MRIs revealed Disc Bulges /Herniations and Pretty significant Spondyliosis of the Spine , with sites of Stenosis, significant Degenerative Disc Disease and the Dextroscoliosis of 25 degrees. You don't mention it here, but not only does the Spine sideway curve (Cs or Ss) it Twists as well!! Scoliosis affects various organs and nerves in the body as well. I'll try these exercises - add them to my recent repitoire of stretches to nhelp deal with the terrible Stiffness of OA in the spine and facet Joints. Man, It SUX! Big Time!. Chronic pains and terrible stiffness daily.

And sciatica can originate due to a herniated disk, causing a pinched nerve, hence numbness. Hi, at last you talk the reality of having sciatica. I am Lezel, 54 years old, recently in the stage of menopausal, suffering sciatica/ spondylolisthesis pain since mid- 2021...I now also realize to inform more personally through researches before having the surgery. Neuroorthopedic surgeon, advising me to have surgery that kind of lumbar stift. When I went to a radiologist, to get my pain therapy, he told me that my disc displacement is at minimum percentage, which is not advisable having a surgery. Maybe can you share me some idea what to do, or any exercises which can be helpful for me...Thank you very much!
