It's great when people take time to share their knowledge.
I tried a 1/16" drill bit and it was too big as well. Finally I watched another video that suggested using a tiny Allen wrench. I found one small enough to fit and was able to switch the mag release to the other side
My 1/16" punch wouldn't fit. I'll try to find a smaller punch and see if I can get it to work
Excellent presentation, and use of common tools. None of other field stripping and waiting to see presentation of interest. Great job.
Excellent! Five Stars Service! Explained in detail!
8 years later and your video is still helping people. Great work brother.
Great video. Thanks!
This is by far the worst gun I've ever disassembled, damn near chucked the pistol in the trash trying to put the back plate on
Thanks
Good job thank you
Thank you very much! Not sure if this solved my problem but it helped in troubleshooting!
Thank you. I’m left handed and this was very helpful for my p320.
Bro I cleaned my gun with cooking oil because a friend told me tht I could use tht to clean my gun and now my gun don’t want to shoot
You're going to need to get some type of degreaser to get that off make sure the degreaser you find will not harm you're finished if you do not feel comfortable take it to a professional.
Bro. Thank you. Just installed an optic and was testing it out. My extractor literally shot off while I was shooting. At night. In the woods. So luckily I have a high powered magnet. Was able to find it. Reassembled. Just was cycling rounds seeing why the extractor failed. It came off again. This time in a controlled setting. Looked up your video. I was not rotating the pin to lock the extractor in place. So thank you. Got it locked in and cycled a full mag no issues. It is worth mentioning this is my first sig. And they are a little more "particular" than glocks. Hahaha
Bro... this is a great video. Thanks for sharing.
Great simple well explained and right to the point thank you.
I try to be right to the point with everything . I'm happy I could help
How often do you have to clean the firing pin
Very helpful thanks!!
Anyone else have an issue where the firing pin sticks out after the 1st round blocking the feed of round 2 after taking it apart and putting it back together?
Trying to tune my taurus 1911 commander and I can't get the firing pin to move forward unless I push in the firing pin block under the slide. And then the firing pin stop doesn't just slide out!? It moves a little but doesn't slide off? I've watched 3 videos and they do what you did.... Push in firing pin and slide down. Looks super easy yet Idk what I'm doing wrong lol but it's frustrating as all hell lol.
My cocking indicator does not stick out when I charge the slide. I bought my slide off a website, so the slide is used for sure. What do you think the issue could be? It's an XD-40 full size
"SIDE ARM"
Thanks for this video. It answered my question about removal
We ALL use oil, which is needed for tail and other friction points...but from experience with "gumming" and sub zero conditions oil can cause a potentially dangerous condition where you squeeze trigger, it feels like it released seer, but cartridge fails to fire, so you should pause then open battery to eject round. BUT, in sub-zero the oil is very thick, it retards firing pin travel...the weapon can and probably will discharge after up to one or two seconds later! This, from experience. When you tear down the firing pin assembly clean/dry thoroughly and use a liberal dusting of lock graphite instead of normal lube. It still provides publicity but dry, and unaffected by cold. I also recommend this for entire trigger assembly as well....oil lubes attract/retain dirt/dust/powder residues and can foul mechanism. I have found ultra fine graphite superior to oil lubes in reducing friction! WD-40 is a well known product...but the company makes a superior dry graphite in a colonial fast evap carrier that sprays on. Let dry and repeat several times to build graphite layers...IT DOES NOT EASILY RUB OFF, so it will stick and continue to lubricate for hard use. Repeat after several hundred rounds to gauge how fast wearcrate is for you. Good video, just felt my information will be useful and save from accidents. Thanks.
Great tutorial!!! Thanks
I thought it was just me I installed a Wilson lower put it in wrong side now I can’t get it off I’m gonna have a drink and look at porn to relax then att3ntion it again…
Excellent video. Succinct, informative, and visually easy to follow. Great job and very helpful.
Thank you for this video! Just flipped my mag release!
👍👍👍
So I lost my firing pin. I have a xdm elite osp. 😢so will this be the same process and parts? Thanks for hopefully I get a response. Other videos folks don’t respond.
So to be honest I don't know that was 1 of the original xd so I don't know if the striker will be the same sorry
I would call Springfield and talk to them
I was thinking about doing this but ive learned how to use my left middle finger pretty effectively. Maybe ill try this in the future though
I like watching these because I want to know how to take apart the slide and the striker firing pins. And feel comfortable. But I’m glad I have a gun smith down the road to ask help if I need to. I have a Glock I practice taking apart just to get comfortable with it if I need to clean it or not. I want an XD model now and want to feel comfortable with it
So, there is such a curve in my extractor it gets caught on the breech face.👹 It takes the hook at the back, plus a punch pushing on the front of it to straighten it out and get it by the breech face. PITA Series 80 as well, so theres that.🤔😂😂😂🇺🇸👍🇺🇸
Yeah, it's definitely not supposed to have that much curve. To be honest, I would probably replace it and keep it as a backup
Thank you for the video, i tried doing it myself and bent the hell out of a spring. Ordered new parts and watched this video.
I'm happy I could help
My plunger bottom part that connects to ejector and spring stuck how can get it out pls. help thank you..
With not being able to see it I would take it to your local gun smith's
Great demo!! Thank you.
Thank you good sir. My m18 doesn’t even have 500 rounds through it and it’s already giving me light striker fire pin issues.
If cleaning out the striker channel doesn't work, I would take that back to where you purchased it and have it sent in to Sig because that is BS, and there Might be an underlying issue that cannot be easily resolved.
@@18wheelerham thanks for the advise! I cleaned out the striker channel. If problem persists on my next Range session I will leave it with someone at the shop so that the issue is addressed.
Thank you for the video. Thanks to how well you made it, i was able to get my replacement extractor in 1st try.
I'm glad I could help
This was the clearest and best lit video thus far on 1911 extractor removal. Answered all my questions. Good job.
Thank you I'm happy I could help
Thnx!
I'd also like to thank you. This was just what I needed. After a few thousand rounds I may be getting some light strikes. This will allow me to get the striker channel cleaned out real good. 😉
GREAT VIDEO!!! Best one I've seen on this! Please do a video on an complete breakdown on the XD(a Fully strip of the slide)
Thanks a lot from Italy!
do you have to strip it?
Awesome video! Do you recommend any certain tool kit to maintain the 1911?
A barrel bushing wrench is nice to have caliber specific cleaning kit and replace the recoil spring every 2500 to 3000 rounds
Thank you
thank you for this video when i get my sig P320 X5 Legion i can switch it from right hand to left hand instead of switching hands to load the mag .
Brilliant, thank you! I swapped my P320 to left-handed... unfortunately, I had to swap it back - - BE AWARE - - my Kydex holster makes contact with the LH release button, and my magazine was on the ground before I finished unholstering the gun. Lefties, look out for this problem!
Soooo my firing pin snapped idk how? But its snapped at the tip idk where else i can get one locally 🤦♂️ if only there were pick apart gun junk yards lol
Very clear, concise explanation. I had forgotten how to do it. Thank you !
