Another Never Before Seen Truck-2434 (And 2499)
This is one of the earliest "one-off" random finds I've stumbled upon. This was filmed 3 years ago in 2021. 2434 was decommissioned soon after this and replaced with 2456. 2499 is obviously still around. 2434 was one of those trucks that I had no idea existed until I saw it in person, as most of the other trucks I only saw pictures of. At this time, 2434 would have been filling in for 2466 which was an ex-Pacheco truck decommissioned because of a hydraulic leak. It's weird just how much the landscape has changed in just 3 years. I mean we converted to pretty much all CNG trucks, got new, cool, weird trash cans, and lost a bunch of diesel trucks (R.I.P. 2432 lol). Anyway, not much more to say except for this being my 99th video, so for my 100th, I'm putting out a cart update! I got some new carts so stick around if you wanna see that. Boy was this a cold morning! I remember the day I recorded this truck, it was friggin FREEZING! Was at the Fremont transfer station today and saw an ACX Autoreach and was like man....one of the last gems Fremont still has around. 2434 sounds like the engine was surging..wouldnt like hearing that all day lol. I officially left Niles today man. Hopefully ill be in another part of Fremont soon. Will enjoy seeing more vids! Do me a solid and film my old neighborhood sometime if you can. All new trucks there. 2501, 2505, and 2508

They probably were damaged or ripped off or something and since they were gonna decommission it soon, they figured why spend the money to fix it.

I miss seeing these running my side of Niles. Congrats on graduating man! I remember when i graduated back in 2012! Time really flies by the older you get. I was fortunate enough to film this year so far, 2427, 2428, & 2432!! My side of Niles currently has 2501 on Trash, 2505 on Recycling and 2508 on Greenwaste. Last few week's ive been up at 7 AM on Thursday because Greenwaste comes that early now. Anyways i plan of filming hopefully one or two more times this year..as i'll be moving out of Niles soon.

Why does the guy take the fully loaded bins inside the truck, will they get emptied out later? Usually I've seen drivers empty the old bin contents into the new one.
I'm sure they get emptied out at the yard. Sometimes, though yeah you'll see them crossing paths with a garbage truck and they'll empty it before they take it.

I never saw any curottos when i lived in the Union City/Fremont area, only sideloaders for residential. The 1200s i saw were all on commercial dumpsters.
They curottos are fairly new. At least the peterbilt ones are. In Union City, however, they only use peterbilt autoreach side Loaders.
Did Fremont get rid of the Heil Freedom 520 Curottos? Haven't seen any in about a month now. Over here its 2508, 2503, and 2499 sometimes 2505.
I don't believe they've gotten rid of any curottos. Actually they might have because I was talking to one of the drivers and he said he's been seeing less of them. But they also take the actual box off and use them as regular front Loaders sometimes. For me I think it's 2508, 2459, and 2453/2499.

Unfortunately, I'm not a driver... yet! But I appreciate it and you're right. Without garbage truck drivers, cities, and quite frankly the world would not function. I was thinking about that the other day actually how many look at garbage truck drivers and go, "man I'm glad I'm not picking up garbage" when in reality, garbage truck driver are essential. They were driving during the freakin pandemic!
Cool! Would love to see one of these vids in a 520 Durapack Rapid Rail. The way this old dude operates the Autoreach here is ok but he should be out to the left more. Let the arm do the reaching other then that can't go wrong with an Autoreach. Thoes trucks just keep eating and eating. Pretty sure they can eat up to 17 tons of trash/recycling in one go but unfortunately here in California there's load restrictions so legally out here 14-15 tons max. Still crazy to think about how heavy these beasts are!
I'll keep that in mind ;) The reason why he gets close to the curb and why a lot of other guys do is because it's a HUGE time saver. That and lifting the arm and retracting it at the same time. Damn 15 tons is insane!
Thing is the auto reach doesn't have that much uh reach lol. So you have to get closer so you can reach the carts easier. I liked that arm cause it's pretty stable but slow. Currently in a python and I hate most things about it.

This looks like a 3rd gen autoreach,what is so old about it besides the fact its on a WXLL? Also isn’t that a amrep backup alarm?
mcneilus uses these alarms a lot when the body is raised or whatnot. sometimes they are also used as backup alarms, its just a preco alarm. they can be heard on nearly every truck besides a few

Good old Tri Ced! I wish they would have kept the curb cycle system around to this day. In Hayward back in the 90's - 2004 they had older diesel CCC WXLL's and Labrie Top Select trucks. I think dual troths on both sides and had a driver and a helper.

Truck 1034 used to be my recycle truck & 1035 did yard waste when i lived in Union City, i have a bunch of videos of them on my page. Never understood why UC had its own trucks instead of having Republic pick it along with the trash.
Oh nice, yep I've seen your videos. I was especially happy to see the ones of the Volvo Autoreach, that's unique. Do you know how many of these trucks Union City has? Yeah it seems like it'd make more sense but maybe it's less contracts for U.C. to honor.

I remember when then Allied, now Republic took the contract from Waste Management in the early 2000's. I hadn't heard of Allied which used to be BFI before the contract switch. @@WMAC_Master

The difference between a Sidewinder and an Automizer are the companies that manufacture them. Automizer is made by Labrie Group (hence, "Labrie Automizer") and the Sidewinder is made by New Way Trucks (hence "New Way Sidewinder"). Design wise, the bodies are very similar. Awesome video! Nice to see Union City hasn't rolled out new black carts to replace their blue trash ones!
