Richter was a genius. His Bach recordings are unsurpassed. His early death was a tragic loss to the whole world. A magnificent musician who never had the chance to enthral us in later years.

Mais Madame Janowitz illumine cette messe comme elle l'avait déjà fait avec la Missa Solemnis dirigée par Karajan... Elle est dans son élément et plane loin au dessus de tout le monde...

This has just been sung as part of today's BBC Radio 4 Sunday Service - brought back memories of singing it long ago in a Christmas concert (don't think voice is up to it now!!) Beautiful piece

I sang this carol in 1964 in the Peter Warlock arrangement. I is short but has a special place in my heart.

A memorable performance. Voices very well blended.

I first encountered this lovely piece when watching the movie “ The Black Narcissus “ many years ago. It was used most artfully in one of the scenes as the Mother Superior ( Deborah Kerr) is recalling a distant Christmas memory and a lost love.

The Bass line comes through stronger in this performance. I listened to this one a number of times, because I'll be a Bass Singer for Beethoven's Mass very soon, and their voices come through well.

This is taken a bit too fast at the start. It lacks soul. Fortunately, it slows down a later ! Remember hearing this sung in the cathedral in Nice - Christmas 1989. Wonderfully French !
