I heard so many reviews like this praising this release, I was dumbfounded when I put it in and realized it is a DNR mess, and not true 4K. I might need a smaller screen cause on the big screen, it’s al I can see 😢.

That vision of AI still sucks. Sure maybe the “artists” get a bigger chunk of the pie. But how many “day to day” folks are going to get laid off? And then eventually who has money to spend on entertainment at all?

Archiving and maybe the odd film which would benefit from it (IMAX "4K" presentation films or extra long films like 4K extended LotR).

Love these deep dives. I didnt see Aliens in the theater ( my parents wouldn't let me) we rented it on VHS for late night parties on my dad's 25 inch console tv. Now I watch on 80 inch Sony and 7.2 atmos and really enjoy the 4k HDR

Aliens doesn't work well when we're older, I think. Way too popcorn. Ridley Scott's Alien is deeply disturbing, no matter how many times I watch it.

Many of the early U.K. VHS releases were heavily cut but still got in trouble. Cannibal Holocaust was missing around six minutes of violence and was still prosecuted. Faces of Death had a whole chunk of around half an hour missing from its video and was still banned. Both are still cut in the U.K. today.

DVD to BLURAY they could have added all the Halloween movie. The could this Bluray to 4k! The reason why we dont see this much is because they can make more $$$$$$$$$$$ for each disc sold! They done this with dvds and old or not to great movies!

Aliens has some of most memorable lines in film history & are still repeated today many years later.

My 4k discs are having problems about three quarters way through. The sound goes off and there is some pixelation. Is there a layer change around this time. I have a panasonic 420 player.

I'm not a MASSIVE fan of the series, and I'll openly admit I prefer the first Alien film to the sequel, but Aliens is one of my wife's all time favourites. It's one of the biggest comfort films for her, up there with Jurassic Park and Nightmare Before Christmas. The action and horror mix perfectly in this one. That much I will admit to. It's not a bad movie, not at all, I just prefer the suspenseful atmosphere in the original... Actually, one thing that came up recently during a rewatch was just how quotable the first one was compared to other films in the series, including the first one. It has more memorable lines than pretty much all the others put together. The wife's been watching it for 20+ years and only recently did we realize this 🤣 So yeah, great movie, it's not my favourite in the series, but it's still one of the best horror/action films ever made and well deserving of the praise it gets.

Imo its the people not knowing how to behave

20:40 that's why I like organizing by genre. That way I go to the movie section I'm in the mood for. That's how blockbuster did it. I feel like it's browse-friendly.

One of those movies i always wish i could watch for the first time again

The Aliens 4K special features are so good! I took several days and absorbed ALL of them. They are so much more revealing than special features nowadays. This is one of the greatest movies of our time. Special Edition forever. Although I would have preferred the 4K to look more filmic like the Alien 1979 4K, I was very happy with the Aliens 4K.

The difference is 4K Blu-Ray can adopt HDR, which Blu-Ray doesn't. Resolution aside, on the right equipment, it truly pops. But you need a player and a new TV. My Sony 1080p from 14 years ago seems to never want to break, and the missus just doesn't care about these things. ;-)

Aliens had a **1986** release date, not 1989. Might want to change the title of this video.

Aliens is such an awesome movie Jeff good to take a deep Dive. I'd like to get the Aliens Expanded but I just want the blu-ray all that other stuff I don't really care about but it's just too expensive. Hope fully I can just get the blu-ray sometime

For 8 years I've been streaming movies and buying digital movies because of convenience. I tried a Blu-ray disc for the first time and I was blown away by the quality. Even the sound quality is much better.

You can’t compare the visual quality of a film from 1968 to a film from this century dude.

I have just started my own physcail media collection as of a few weeks ago. We have a good Atmos system and a 4K Dolby Vison TV. We used to (and still do) stream all of our media from Disney Plus and Netflix because they have most of the stuff we're after. But there's just certain movies (Warner and Universal mainly) that are either not available to stream with a subscription at all or are on yet another streaming service that I won't use otherwise or that isn't available in my location. Buying physical media and ripping it to a jelyfin Server is just way more feasable for me at this point because of how specific my taste in movies outside of Disney and Netflix is. There's also great deals on eBay for phyiscal disks, just picked up the non-4K BluRay of Barbie for like 5 Bucks.I did pick up Dune 1 and 2 in 4K but for stuff that I just wanna watch casually, I'll go normal 1080p BluRay. Most of them also have Atmos at this point and the minimal added quality of 4K (HDR) doesn't really justify the 10-15 Bucks more for a 4K Copy.

I hope Day Of The Dead 1985 comes out on 4k 40th anniversary
