Maybe, but it depends. Previously I owned Player Jaguar with pau ferro, and the board itself does not feel right to my hands.

@TheWalterGetz pau ferro, is cheaper alternative to rosewood but you know, for half the price of a USA strat, it's fine, you could have a tele and strat for the price of a built in USA, how cool would that be!! 😎

How so? Maybe I'm a bit dumb but I have 3 fender guitars, one with rosewood neck, one maple and one pau ferro and I only notice any difference from the pickups, not the neck? Not even the feel, tbh 😅

@@TheWalterGetzI have had a Gretsch w/Rosewood, Explorer w/Ebony, 2 Epi’s w/Rose & a 70’s USA Strat w/Maple neck & I think for me, Maple & the Ebony Fretboards tie for playability. I am looking to buy a new guitar this weekend & I think I’m going for a Maple fretboard. In fact, I don’t even look at anything else. To me the darker woods always feel “sticky”, except the Ebony Fretboard I had on the Gibson Explorer. I’m leaning towards a Fender Player HSS FR since it’s in my budget range with the features I want.

In case you are wondering, last time I measured it I could play 16th notes at 275 bpm. I know I can play a bit faster than that, but thought 275 was fast enough and didn’t try a faster tempo. Picking every single note, phrasing all over the scales, all over the neck. I use economy picking almost all the time, because it’s what I feel natural to me, and I make it sound very, very well, very agressive if I want to. Listen to Yngwie’s advice: find your own way to make it sound good. Find the most natural and easy for you, and make it sound good. Forget about how you hold the pick or what your hand looks like, and just focus on the tip of the pick making the string sound. Look at the pick when you practice the tremoli (tremolos), and focus only on the tip of it. Don’t fall between the strings: rub the string with the pick. Glide on the strings when you move from one to another. Experiment with different picks to find which work for you. I like Ibanez JTC and Dunlop Jazz III Stiffo and Tortex. Dunlop Flow may be good for beginners. Ben Higgins can be of great help.

Check “Speed Picking: anyone can do this”, by Ben Higgins. Practice very fast to develop efficient motor patterns and very slow for developing accuracy. You need to practice at both speeds. Alternate a few repetitions slow and a few as fast as you can.

If you begin to feel pain, stop and stretch. Rest and stretch as much as you need to practice WITHOUT PAIN. Repetitions without pain are quality reps for your brain to develop good motor patterns. It’s WAAAAY BETTER to practice a quality hour a day than 12 sloppy hours. You only need between 45 minutes and two hours a day if you follow my method. My method applies for legato and sweep too.

Hello! Thanks for your opinion . Few things though - I’m not metal guy and playing fast picking is not the goal. I’m just playing for fun, and ofc, when I started I was able to play this 170 bpm 8th, now it’s 231. So maybe I’ve reached my goal already ?
