Hello, I have the same motor, It will newer pass 2500 rpm.. Maybe same problem? How can you see overheating? Alarm? What speed and rpm is max on this motor? (Steel prop on 19' Campion boat)
You also need to remove the computer between the two banks then remove the exhaust water cover and clean that out too.
Don't forget to remove the zinc anodes as well
Awesome video. Hope this works for me
two Russian guys had a good video, they took off the lower unit and hooked up a small pump like you did to the water pick up tube above the impeller, they also took out the thermostats and that way the cleaning solution went thru the entire water-cooling system. No need to run the engine.
pull the lower and just attached a hose direct to the pick up tube.
I have a 07 Yamaha 115 2 stroke and my heads dont never get above 90 degrees
Well, you did a fantastic job. Thank you. I’ve been looking at a lot of stuff on CZcams and you explained it well what worked but didn’t work thank you very much. I’m sure you saved a lot of people lotta time. Great job.
You need a stronger pump to reach the top
So how are you supposed to know it's not running too cold?
The only way that I know is to monitor the temperature.
@@Kevin-hy6ln what's the proper temp
Even me also
You need to flush with impeller in it with motor running, only way to clean upper cylinder water holes, your motor wasn't peeing during the flush so no chemicals made it to the top
Also made needs thermostats in it that way you descale the thermostats as well, cause once motors warms up when idling the thermostats will open and flush entire motor
Yes, I did a follow up to this video where I removed the lower unit and flushed it. Take a look czcams.com/video/yaY29TZb6k0/video.html
Thanks for the video! What about just using vinegar to flush the engine?
I've never used just vinegar but it sounds like is is pretty popular with a lot of people.
Did that fix your overheating problem?
Hey buddy I have the same motor and I leave my boat in the water all summer and I have no flush hose on mine. I always wanted to add one, did you add yours? Could you let me know where yours leads so I can add one? I would love to be able to give a fresh water rinse after a day on the water. Thank you
excellent video sir
Why wouldn't you show what it looked like when it was actually flushing? So was the thermostat cover on the whole time? Did the water flush out of the tell? You know where it pisses?
Once I verified that it was coming up through the head, I put the thermostat covers back on. And yes, it would also come out of the pisser so I blocked that so that I could recirculate as much of it as possible.
Her it is man..measure PH in and coming out . I saw everyone was wondering how to know it really all clean in the entire engine. Let it go till the PH issue saane going in as coming out.. czcams.com/video/_hx3juqQNTM/video.html
Thanks for the video! I am going to try this out and see if I have the same problem I have a Yamaha 115 Inshore (small guarded inlets for water impeller) 2-Stroke and have been having this problem. Couldn't tell if it was a problem with not enough water getting through the system, so I got it acid flushed and ran a wire through the "pee indicator". It's pumping water like a man man, however I am still tripping an alarm. I assume it's the temperature alarm because like you it only goes off when I'm trying to get up above 1/2 throttle. It could also be a voltage problem because I had a dead/failing battery. But I want to take the heads off to take a look because I am going to have to drop the money to get new batteries anyway.
I'm glad ya fixed it. czcams.com/video/njiwfmzfies/video.html
ok heres my two cents. you should have left the lower end off. ran the pump hose to the copper water tube running up to the block that there would insure flow to the motor, as far as the tell tale well that should have a hose extended to the bucket to catch the fluid. me i use vinegar however you need to be carefull as far as its acidic.... Another way is to back fush thru the thermostat housings with a garden hose...
Would it reach the thermostat if you turned the motor on ??
Yes, but I didn't want to run the motor.
Thank you for making this video!!! I just bought an old Yama 15 that appears to be pretty gunked up with salt and mineral deposits. I'm going to use your technique to flush it out. Best regards from Key West, Capt. Blackheart Charlie
Great video. Thanks. This gave me the confidence to dive in. Problem solved.
Can leave it in longer. I leave it in overnight.
I use 100% pure Canadian maple syrup for flushing my outboard. It’s the only way to do it probably.
I have a overheating 60 hp yammy 2 stroke. Does it have this valve too?
Doesn't it make sense to run the motor inside a large drum of water for about 15 mins? Because that basically replicates how the salt water got in there in the first place right? Or does the prop have to be spinning.
No, you don't want the prop to be spinning at any time when you're flushing it. And yes, you could just run it in a large drum. A lot of people do it that way. I've just found that since I'm pulling the lower unit off, that is a good time to do it. Also by doing it that way, I can use less of it and keep the concentration higher. If you use a large drum and you want to keep the concentration at 50/50, you're going to need a lot more of the product.
@@Kevin-hy6ln I have tested my motor for the first time and there is only smoke coming out of the tell tale. This is a quick vid of it czcams.com/video/Fk1oe0gKDIA/video.html
Looks more like electrologists than normal salt water buildup how are your anodes?
Fill oil tank
Looks like that product doesn't work
Great stuff I have been using it for years.
Great video!
how do you remove the engine cover?
i think you should have the motor running
Nice vid thanks. Just a thought. If you have to drop the bottom end off to take out the impeller could you just connect your bilge pump’s to the water pipe that the impeller feeds? Would save putting the bottom end on and off again and also all the water would be used instead of some leaking out the upper intake?
Yes, I did a follow up to this video where I removed the lower unit and flushed it. Take a look czcams.com/video/yaY29TZb6k0/video.html
Thanks I was able to order and change my Poppit Valve in 3 days and save part of my Vacation to get my 2003 250hpr Vmax 2stroke alarm to finally not sound! changed thermostats and now Pop Valve…my valve was the old style and it was corroded shut…alarm was sounding at low idle and neutral only. Ran fine and peed fine…just would get hot…my next change job will be to clean inside heads. Thx for the Vid! I had old style and put in the new style! Thx again
So this is how I did it. Filled up a tote with water, gal Of distilled white vinegar and removed thermostat. Ran the motor in the tote until water was hot . 10-15 minutes maybe. Cycled it a few times a week . Took off the side cover and it was clean as a whistle 👍🏼
Used barnacle buster before taking apart a 1999 saltwater motor for a rebuild. It was completely clean. Think flushed it for 2 hours
Those holes are for head bolts ...
Getting ready to do the same on a 2014 V6 Yam F300. Using a product called Barnacle Buster. Overheating at high RPM.
anybody ever try hooking the hose to the tell tell outlet????--or maybe just rigging the hose to the thermostat opening??/-im fixin to do my evinrude 40hp but im usin muriatic acid diluted to either 5 to 1 or 10 to 1-ill do a you tube video when i do and ill try these suggestions
And every time it goes over 145° salt becomes solid. Yeah pull the heads apply elbow grease.
Try using baking soda with soap on your maintenance flush. Baking soda will lower the pH in the salt acid and kill it.
baking soda is alkaline (rase pH)......google it if you dont know
@@11111Rich kills the salt
@grifce Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) will neutralize acid salts if you did put acid in. Perhaps that's what you are trying to say.
@@11111Rich no salt is a acid. Salt corrosion will stop when wash with soap and baking soda . Look I'm a taxidermist. Whether if you use formic acid or pickling Crystal and salt. Or just plan salt. If you don't Wash it in baking soda the salt will keep being salt.
That clogging is nothing compared to an 8 hp Yamaha that I just took apart. Those water passages between the block and the cylinder walls were completely clogged and compacted with a white salt looking substance. Just because the tell-tale is working, it does not mean that the water jacket is not clogged. We all know that hot temps mean shorter engine life. I learned a cheap lesson on a cheap engine but felt compelled to share. Newer and bigger engines of course are set up with fail safes and shut downs .
After soaking covers rinse them with pressure washer
RYDLYME 👍👍I use it too.....and did multiple vids on a 250 Suzuki 4 stroke.
55 gallon barrel plastic cut it half and add white vinegar water 50/50 ratio and start it bump the idle up around 1000 to 1500 rpm and remove the thermostats make sure it’s pumping water
So, the plan of action would be when you change your water pump impeller, flush your engine.
That's what I'm going to do.
The other thing I'm going to do is when I'm flushing it, I'm going to stop the pump and just let it sit in the head as well.
@@Kevin-hy6ln Yeah, maybe you should heat the water you flush with.
I'm getting ready to do the same thing. '96 200hp Saltwater Series II. Thanks for this vid!!
