Our penny floor
zhlédnutí 486KPřed 10 lety
Our penny floor in the kitchen. Start to finish in a little over a week. We used liquid nails from a caulking tube. Just spread it out with a small adhesive spreader. Used an unsanded grout. Then sealed with polyurethane.
Are the cents, not pennies, being used composed of Cu, or Zn?
Who love the song
Love the song 💯💯💯💯💯💯🎤make me happy
Around 1:08 to 1:15 I see what it appears to be the star but then it flashes and disappears to the blank floor again and then begin building the star again but what is the star made out of and was that like trick photography or doing something with the video to have it appear and disappear?
Thank God it's on tile at least it can be removed
Negative alysnacy
The only good thing about that floor is its affordability
That looks awesome
What a waste of copper
Been 8 years of #nocopper #coins in #canada #copperkills #saveyourcopper #coppercoins #snapchange
How is the poly holding up? And what kind did you use? We are getting ready to grout and a few weeks out from having to decide poly vs epoxy. Thank you!
Holding up pretty good. I put on a fresh coat evey other year.
@@a.barnett7096 Thank you. Really torn between the 2. Just grouted yesterday so I have a few weeks. Did you go with a poly at Lowes/HD or more commercial line?

Hi im doing a penny floor now in my guest bathroom but haven't decided on what type of topcoat to use yet. I heard that epoxy will turn yellow/amber over time, is yours still looking clear & shiny? how is yours holding up? Thanks Jack

My apartment has a small kithchen and it's floor is made of pennies. The problem is HOW do you keep it clean? I now have three large areas that have turned almost greenish, and I have NO idea how to get them out. Does anyone PLEASE have ANY idea how to get them out? I have not put anything on the floor, such as cleansers, so I have no idea what to do. HELP, please !!!
If the floor was merely "pennied" and then grouted without sealing over the top, you can try an electric auto type buffer and use a metal polish like Brasso. You could also use an automotive metal polish. Buff using the polish until you get the desired degree of shine and then buff off the residue to polish it further.
Incredible! How much money worth of pennies used?
you just glued a Three Thousand dollar penny to your floor.
Lose the music
Beautiful job
:/ contact with copper for long durations of time is known to cause warts.
Towards the end of the video when you are putting on the grout and you show the finished look there's a 1943 steel penny some which are worth thousands
how many 1943 steel pennies do you want to buy for $50 each? I'll sell you a bucket full. Before you say "only certain ones", I'll go ahead and say that it doesn't matter what kind. if it's a 1943 steel penny, it's not worth much at all. 1943 copper, yes. 1944 steel, yes. 1943 steel, no.
But definitely looks like you have a 1943 steel penny in there that is worth few thousand bucks
No it is not. 1943 copper penny, but not no steele!
@@Dirtnap1986 if it is 1943 copper yes it's worth alot all 1943 Penny's should be steel if it's truly a 1943 copper get it off the floor still worth a ton
what polyurethane sealer did you use? Nice job!
I must say you guys are rude as hell it looks awesome guys that took a lot of work but the cost was a lot Less then anything you can buy at Lowe's and they customized it and also brought value too the house awesome ;)
Hmm yes this floor is made out of penny
gold coins wud look prettier I say ...hmmm

Is it legal?
malenkov3 technically no.
Yes, technically no. But no different than the machines that cost you a couple bucks, insert a penny and it flattens it while imprinting something else. You see these machines at tourist sites all over. I doubt you would be put in jail for it. The penny itself is still legal tender. You just took it out of circulation.
Section 331 of Title 18 of the United States code provides criminal penalties for anyone who “fraudulently alters, defaces, mutilates impairs, diminishes, falsifies, scales, or lightens any of the coins coined at the Mints of the United States.” No, it's not illegal. The law forbids mutilation, alteration, etc for fraudulent purposes. If you're not trying to commit fraud by creating your masterpiece, tile on!
Omg,it's beautiful. You have A lot of patience, I would give up from the first row.
U making me hungry for a penny floor
This kinda pisses me off because you probably used between 200 and 300 wheat pennies which are more valuable then the modern penny.
I see where your coming from. Hopefully someone halfway smart said something before the install
Value added to the floor,, hording wheat pennies for cash is a joke and a half,, make something nice and that will last,, even wheat pennies have a place in life,,
1943 D steel wheat penny
I can see you probably just lost like 100$ in pennies
Genji 100 for new floor. Perfect
Is this legal? lol
Huge waste of money.
What?
It is amazing how bad it looks. Needed more thought. Shiny ones could have been interspersed regularly with the dull ones. It is a bit of a disaster.
it's called character
If you can't be nice be silent. This was a very artistic and gracious project.
Get some more meth, tear it up and redo it with all the pennies heads up.
putting all your luck in one basket?
Great way to memorialize the penny since they have phased out.
For the center star design, I would blended in dimes and nickels so the colors would have popped out. Just my opinion.
cool idea VA
VA2906 R great idea, but nickels and dimes are a different thickness. He would have had to compensate under that area to raise different coins up to, or as low as, the pennies to have a smooth floor.
VA2906 R I think that would look cool also. Or foreign coins. I like it, very pretty
Awesome how many pennies
Thinking about trying a penny floor. How is it holding up after 3 years?
