I feel called out - I genuinely do watch knitting videos in Russian and have learnt terminology from them 😆 I needed this video, thank you. I felt like I was grinding to a halt but actually it's amazing to look back and see how far I've come.
wow your Mexican Spanish is wow
Sometimes German is a Reverse Polish Notation language.
Eu sendo Brasileiro quando tô no tédio:
I’ve done Lingoda for the sprint, but never went back, and I’m too scared to try italki cause it’s private lessons and I know I’ll spend too much on it then lol. I didn’t know you also live in Indiana. You poor soul, I understand. LOL 😂
I would never have learned any language ever without formal schooling beginning with grammar. I would never have even passed Russian, French, & Chinese classes without a formal teacher teaching me. I am sick to death of hearing this "immersion" crap. That's like saying the best way I become a NASCAR auto mechanic is by immersing myself in cars all day. Well, I have immersed myself in cars for 60 years, being 60 years old, living in stroad-filled USA. I still have no clue how to fix cars.
Right now, my favorite go-to app for learning Vietnamese is Immersive Translate. It’s a free browser extension that supports a wide variety of languages. I personally like to use it to watch my shows and movies on Netflix and CZcams every day. I’ve already learned a great deal, and couldn’t be happier with the app.
Amazing advice and resources, thank you!

Great tips, very helpful!
Sheldon Cooper has a killer show...fun with flags :o)
I believe in u. U can do it.
As a Brazilian you sound great Also you look more British than American
I literally live in Bostanlı!! It felt so surreal to see such a familiar place in a vlog video. Thanks for visiting there!😂❤
hallo 😘
when I'm using jiveworld, should I be translating spanish into english in my head, or just naturally try to hear only spanish?
I started watching «Geek girl» yesterday, and I kept thinking: «She looks like Elysse!» 😊 Anyone else see it?
This was entertaining to watch, I love flags too. My favorite one is the Sami flag. Have you played languageguessr? That would be fun to see you play as well!
I gotta work on my knowledge about the island flags, i can't recognise most of them. It was fun watching it live, i didn't recognise as many countries as you did, but i guess that i did a good job.🤭
You now have to learn the languages of every wrong guessed flag.
Most of it is just gonna be English I bet
For someone first time remembering St Vincent and the Grenadines flag, the diamonds in the middle shaped like a V, like Vincent.
13:29
I did a flag game like this a few months ago then became determined to learn them all and their capitals. Now I have an anki deck in addition to spanish + russian decks
“I shouldn’t curse so much. Actually….I don’t care” 😂
Alright i was on college class so i couldnt watch this broadcast but u must stream u playing geoguess now
Wiki says the H&M Islands flag is the Aussie flag. I'm an Aussie and had to look it up 😂
I believe it's an obligation for everyone to know every flag of every country in the world. Like what do they do in their free time?
I agree. There’s really not that many either (last I remember, it’s less than 200, and many of them are very distinct/recognizable). I wish my geography classes growing up gave us better education in general (it was the U.S.)!
Ive been on thks website and the flag test is very challenging, they dig deep for obscure flags 😂😂
I will say USA as long as I live. America is a continent not a country. I don't care what you call it.
If you want the accent of "anywhere" you have to go live there. Since most Spanish speakers in the USA speak the american variants of Spanish you will naturally pick their words and sayings. If you go to Mexico you will eventually sound Mexican. Americans who learn spanish in Costa Rica get Costa Rican accent.
as a long time korean learner the kpop fan thing is so real. it has changed the way koreans react to language learners too. when I was young and first starting it was before there were even many english resources available so people were always excited to help me and teach me words, now if you don't speak well people for the most part don't even want to talk to you because they just assume you're an annoying kpop fan (and i cannot blame them for that lol). i have tried to quit it more than once but it's been a part of my life too long and i love the language too much. unfortunately i still don't actually speak it lol
Hi Elyssse your class is fantastic....congratulacion
Hi Elysse, I really like your videos, you have a lot of great tips for making studying a language more enjoyable, so thank you very much! I understand that you studied\ are studying Hebrew, if you are still interested in the language I'll be happy to help!
Please don"t take this the wrong but I have such as crush on you! Such a smart and well spoken lady.
I am a Sephardic Jew too from Morocco! What is your roots?
German isn't really a father language to English it's more like a drunk uncle
Elysse, Turkish may be a bit hard for you, but SINCERELY I should say that YOUR TURKISH PRONUNCIATION IS PERFECT. My jaw dropped and I am still looking for it! If you master the vocabulary and a little bit of grammar, it will be impossible to tell you from a Turk. Keep that in mind and keep it up!
Wow Your Turkish pronunciation is very natural and with little accent if any. That's THE most important part. You'll figure out the rest, in time. The text says, "What do the white men mean/say, daddy? Are their skins white because they are sick?" Basically she never saw a white person before and was confused why they had this PALE skin, and maybe because they got sick or something, she reckons! :) Yalnız: Alone, lonely. Yalnızca: Only, alone, solely
Good talk..but u speak to fast..and it lacks clarity and emotion especially

One time I ordered 7up by saying "dame le siete up por favor". The guy gave me a blank look and replied "seven up?"
Hi Elysse, Thanks for the helpful video! I have a question about Jiveworld. In your video you mentioned that Jiveworld is in some way connected to NPR. That is concerning to me, because we all know that NPR is "National Propaganda Radio" and has been outed by its own editor, Uri Berliner, as being utterly politically Leftist. (Mr. Berliner was pushed out of NPR after he made public NPR's massive political bias.) Therefore, I am reticent to support any product that is funded by a Leftist propaganda organization. So, my question is this: what exactly is the connection between Jiveworld and NPR? Thanks again!
