    You must have lived in a real city. Its much quieter in Vail with i70 than in DFW with iYourName it going through. Summer is lauder, cars drive faster. Winter is pretty quiet. Once leaves are in or lots of snow, it dampens the sound quite a bit.

    Thing is the town hates the resort and does everything they can to go against them. However, their multi million dollar condo's and houses would be worthless w/o the resort. Nobody is spending that kind of cash to listen to the sound of jake brakes. May as well live on long island like my grandparents did. Got the same "sounds of nature."

    I can remember in Vail years ago they would have signs in shops "No out of county checks accepted here." I remember working in Summit County at the same time. And the shops had signs that read "No in county checks accepted here." Summit county was where all the Denver Meth heads and wife beaters went to live. Maybe not so much anymore since Vail bought up a lot of the ski hills.

    I was just in Vail for several days. I stayed in a condo right next to the pedestrian overpass which crosses the interstate, and aside from when I walked across it, I didn't notice it at all. Maybe the snow absorbs a lot of the sound in winter?

    Well why don’t you build another road that goes somewhere and get you to Vail honestly if we didn’t have a 70 it would take three times as long to navigate the valley especially during peak periods. Well go ski Aspen or Summit and wave at us it’s as you drive by

    I remember coming into Vail about three years ago and I had a pretty poor attitude as I stepped off the bus. This was my final destination of a trip I did not want to take in order to make a long story short. I said somethings you could consider condescending and snarky about the town sort of like the narrator in this video. Then all of a sudden some middle aged guy in his late 50's pulled up in some sort of "Rat rod" confounded contraption that Boomers take joy in endangering the public with while on public roads. He must of heard me from across the parking lot as I stepped off the train speaking loudly to myself The man that stepped out of what was a jalopy in my eyes introduced himself as "James". Before I could even introduce myself he said he would take me to what was the former Fruit of the Loom factory and proceeded to "sock me up" till my toes no longer felt the blistering cold of that Colorado winter. He said he hoped that after he socked me up my attitude would change about the area. Only thing I remember other than his first name was the last initial of his last name started with an H thanks to a douchey self serving personal license plate on his "rod". I left the town as soon as possible after this encounter and would advise anyone else to do the same if they end up in similar circumstances.

    I don’t live in Vail, but I visit there a lot. One flaw you missed, the locals treat you like you did something horrible. The Grocery Store next to Mai Palace on the other side of Gore Creek is a great example, they treat you like dogs. Another example is this one walmart a couple miles away, they again treat you like dogs. They don’t even wave to you in their car. The only nice people you will meet are tourists.

    Vail has incredible ski terrain - everything else is just so so - if you could put Aspens town together with Vails skiing then you would have a ski resort to rival any of the big ones in Europe - the Restaurant scene is average at best and food options on the mountain are woeful. Yes and then there’s that freeway……for me the skiing in midweek when it’s quieter somehow makes up for its short comings - people will pay though so what can you do….

    When they put I 70 in they just CLAWED their way straight, without a thought for aesthetics, or even for driveability. The OLD road was more in tune with the land, hugged the curves, didn't destroy the whole valley. But never mind THAT, what really killed Colorado was that every rich wife in Vail HAD to import an illegal maid, and then another, and another....

  • @lenb5230
    @lenb5230 Před 2 lety

    He’s just a hater, everywhere has pro’s and con’s. Yes I-70 runs thru it, but road noise wasn’t a big deal. Summit county is higher altitude and colder year-round, and skiing doesn’t compare to Vail, also a very short summer over there. I lived in Vail for thirty years and loved it.

The only peaceful time was when they closed the pass! Still enjoyed the snowboarding, but naw would choose several other places to live next time.

    The mountain peaks of vail are way more beautiful than almost any mountain town. Views from up in the hills looking at vail mountain are stunning. Aspen has Highway 82 that many homes look at and the traffic and congestion there is terrible. Everyone knows summit county is where the cheaper and more affordable ski resorts are. Vail real estate is some of the most expensive in the world and there’s a reason why. No town matches up to the how unique the village is. You’re just mad that it would take you 20 years of working to afford a 300sq ft studio condo in east vail.

    • @TheSummitNews
      @TheSummitNews Před 2 lety

      Yeah... I lived in vail for a while, had a good place, but then moved to summit and realized what a POS vail was. Why would I want to live and listen to the interstate, when I can live next to the lake and enjoy the views of the mountains on the lake, go skiing and be able to ski straight to my car door straight from the top, and just have good views all around. Who would want to live in a fake village when you can live next to the lake.

    • @gavinolson5901
      @gavinolson5901 Před 2 lety

      Summit county has the heaviest and loudest I-70 congestion and noise out of any place in Colorado. You obviously lived in employee housing so of course it’s gonna be shitty employee housing is not made to be nice lol. If you actually had a nice place you wouldn’t be complaining because homes up in the hills have the most beautiful views in Colorado

    • @gavinolson5901
      @gavinolson5901 Před 2 lety

      “LiVe NeXT tO THe LAke”, there’s a reason why you were able to afford that area and why it’s so dirt cheap compared to vail

    • @TheSummitNews
      @TheSummitNews Před 2 lety

      I never lived in employee housing, had decent condo close to nightlife, walking distance from most things.. I liked to sleep with the window open so when I opened it all I heard was the roaring of I 70 bouncing off the mountain sides, when I went hiking above vail on either side all I heard was the roar from i70, eventually I sold that got out of there and now sleep and hike in peace. You are proving my point that people pay too money to live in a crazy hole.. when they could have better views and hiking/biking/boating activities out there front door instead of a load roaring interstate. Enjoy your crappy view

    • @gavinolson5901
      @gavinolson5901 Před 2 lety

      You must have had the crappiest condo in vail possible because you seem like the type of guy that doesn’t make more than 50k a year so idk even know how u were able to be there in the first place. Enjoy ur hordes of front range people and poor property values. Properties in vail will continue to double while that shitty area doesn’t even grow 5%. Also enjoy the busiest part of I-70 because everyone knows the most traffic and congestion occurs in summit county :)
