What would happen if you dipped your hand in liquid nitrogen? Liquid nitrogen has an extremely low temperature. If you put a piece of meat into liquid nitrogen, take it out, and hit it, the frozen meat instantly shatters. The same thing would happen to the human body. However, if you pull your hand out quickly, it would feel cold, but there wouldn't be any frostbite damage. This is due to the Leidenfrost effect, which means the liquid nitrogen would start to boil on the surface of your hand, creating a gaseous barrier that briefly shields your hand.
