Ever notice how the Bow of Light and the Sword of the Six Sages, from Twilight Princess, got new names (Dusk Bow and Dusk Claymore, respectively). And also more special side quests to acquire them (the entire Thyphlo Ruins sage side quests for the Dusk Claymore, which was originally housed in the undercroft of the Sage Temple Ruins but was moved at some point to Thyphlo). OR, in the case of the Dusk Bow, it sits in some rubble at the top of Hyrule Castle… and is, as far as I know, the only legendary item which respawns with a Blood Moon??

what about Ganondorf, he has been sealed (alive) under hyrule since the beginning of Hyrule till the end, how could there have been a Ganondorf in any games that would have happened in between? I say this BOTW and TOTK totally rewrote the whole history and wiped it all clean.

botw was aready listed on that side since release. what is clear that both cac and botw/totk reference oot on many lvls. there are also many many connections to ss. in a recent famitsu interview on the timeline placement of the improsing war fujibayashi said that there could be a history of destruction before the evens of the imprisoning war. with that in mind + the ingame items referencing ancient heros hidden in zonai chest i think the most likely answer is that between the timelines and the imprisoning war is such a huge time gab that those events are only considered as legends/myths but are still part of the timeline.

Aonuma confirmed in 2017 that Botw is after Oot on the timeline.

my theory is where minish cap and four swords are not where they are supposed to be and the first hyrule is the oot hyrule which then makes sense for the sealing war, then where do minish cap and four swords end up? well, somewhere in the downfall timeline, probably during the timezone of links awakening and right after for four swords. BAM fixed it, hopefully. (note I have not finished minish cap and haven't played four swords, so it might be a little inconsistent

with the ganondorf not knowing entirely whom link is because the sealing war happens in the downfall timeline, link dies before even meeting ganondorf

This is the only theory online after TotK released that makes sense. Many seem too upset about fitting the old games on a continuity that just doesn’t work with the old context.

Id love to see them bring the timeline split full circle like Demise confronting Gannon his reincarnation something like going into the game as Gannon on his quest for power facing down Demise in the end Win or lose Submit or freedom as Gannon may have outgrown the curse being under someone else's control and become greater than the one who cast the curse.

It's possible that the names get passed down through the generations (just like how there're probably 10 Links born for every 1 that becomes the hero). It's also possible that the names are modified either over the ages or for grammar reasons (Vah probably means "of" or "from" much like Von in some surnames)

In BotW, Urbosa full on says that Naboris was named after Nabooru. (Divine Beast cutscene when it's aiming at Hyrule Castle)

I like to think that the reason the sheikah created the beasts to aid Link was to recreate the sages who aided Rauru. Perhaps they were called sages in their time too since I recall Champions being a title dubbed by Zelda though I may be wrong.

I think that the "Legend Saga (Name I Made Up for the cronology of all the games before BotW)" and the "Calamity Saga (Cronology of BotW, AoC and TotK)" have a relation similar to the original universe of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and the SBR-Verse, both in the Lore and the choices of the lead directors, Aonuma and Araki. The choices are similar because I find BotW to be The product of a sense of fullness in the games of the "Legend Saga". There was nothing left to do and the only way to progress was soft-rebooting the series. THIS allowed the team to create a more established Foundation for the new saga and to be More coherent. Similarly, Araki created the SBR saga as a fresh start because he also felt that there was nothing else he could do after Stone Ocean, so he started over. In the Lore, the paralelisms work in this way. Both sagas/universes have similarly named characters that share some carateristics but can differ in intentions, appearance, personality and even gender(Jonathan and Johnny for JJBA/Rauru and Rauru for TLoZ). Both sagas/universes share a similar succesion of events altough with different minor details (for TLoZ, the Foundation of Hyrule and the Imprisoning war). They can also have exclusive events. Finally, both sagas/universes can also have callbacks to the previous saga/universe (Kakariko and Lon Lon ranch being present in both sagas). I hope this helps clarify my point: The sages Ruto, Darunia, Nabooru and Medli from the Calamity Saga are not the same as Ruto, Darunia, Nabooru and Medli from the Legend Saga. They are just paralelisms.
