Broadway State of Mind | Costume Design internship in New York
Broadway, New York and the bright lights of a big city was the destination for Polimoda student Asta Bertelsen. Having gained an internship on Broadway in a design studio, Asta was thrilled to take the skills she learnt during her course to a wider and more fast-paced context.
Her journey began in Florence, where she had signed up to do a short course in Costume Design with mentor Lorin Latarro in the summer of 2023, giving up her job in her native Copenhagen to explore something that had always intrigued her, “Working as a character artist before, I wanted to move into another direction (…) The costume design course looked exciting.”
She specifically chose Polimoda because “It seemed to me that everything would be just a huge experience. I would go to Florence and live there for a month, I would do and learn and be creative (…) as well as getting feedback from people in the business. I knew I wouldn’t have found anything like that in Denmark.”

Life is a challenge.
The indifference comes when you put your clothes and accessories on etc and then you feel so balanced and comfortable, confident in them, that when you walk into the public, you are not even thinking about what you look like, you radiate out from your essence, which feels safe, housed, allowed to be, so you are just your beingness, you are present, receptive, or focused depending on your activities. This is a beautiful interview, thank you both.
Many South East Asian Countries have women wearing loose trousers and men wearing sarongs. The western world still acts like the worst middle class prudes of Victorian times. There must untold millions of porn shows on CZcams somewhere, yet Tarot card readers have to blur out the naked parts. Yet fashion shows have all had transparent clothing showing breast and more. Florida or maybe Miami has tape fashion shows, completely naked women of epic proportions, just covered ever so minimally by thin tape. Hypocrisy and idiocy, self hating flagelants taking it out on people who just want to be natural and aren't over sexualised. Like being at the beach and feeling the waves of sunlight and the wind tickling every hair, the water touching every part of us.
I have completed bs in fashion design. I want to pursue my further studies from Italy. how i will take admission.

A hodgepodge of cultures which seems like a continuation of the west mining other cultures for their own purpose. Only what is the purpose. The same old appropriation or something new. How can this help rewire thinking to get out of the imbedded colonial mentality that only only benefits the west and its elites. Recently listened to interview with Rick Owens and as he talked about fashion and protest making change. I wonder how what this video shall speak and grow the thinking of changing minds on things like sexism, racism and poverty. Sorry but if you put up a interview with Owens trying to make sense no way I can not apply it to what I just heard here.❤️🌹😷😇🌻🌻🌻🌻🥰
