Awesome ❤😊
I understand its expensive and master built but how is the string height towards the 12th fret i knkw the price is high but since i never played it idk hiw comfortable it is how buzz the frets might be
I cant wait for my excellente to come. I ordered it oct 2023 and guitar center told me its back order so i might wait for 2-6 months…. Im patiently waiting
What gauge strings are you using? Thanks! Jeff Mercer Mentor, Oh
I believe they were Martin retro 12s
how is the action?
I bought it used, but the action was really good!
I recently acquired this guitar. It looks and sounds very good. The Excellente is my 3rd Epiphone guitar. I have the DR-400MCE and the Peter Frampton Texan (FT-79). All of them are very good guitars. The Excellente is just amazing. I have looked it over many times and cannot find a flaw.
The sound is awesome. Epiphone is doing some exciting things with guitars. I have an excellente on its' way to my house. I had to get one. The design and sound is incredible. What a get value.
They are great!!! I’m sure you’ll enjoy!
@@summitguitars1137 If these guitars were made in USA the prices would be through the roof. I think it would be 3K or more. Epiphone is making a statement with the Masterbilt line of solid wood guitars. This will be my third Masterbilt guitar in my collection and the first with ovangkol tone wood in the back and sides.
Has this Hummingbird sold? If not I'd be very interested in purchasing it! Please let me know ASAP
Hello, I no longer have the guitar
Is this the American or offshore version? Sounds great.
It’s the import model from 2020.
@@summitguitars1137 sweet!
Own one best acoustic
What strings do you use? Just got mine and want to change strings to 11
I use Martin monel 12’s
I believe they are called Martin Retro’s now
Does it sound good plugged?
Sounds much better than I expected
@@summitguitars1137 thanks for answering! Generally speaking, does it feel like...made in Indonesia?
Does it sound good plugged?
Sounds sweet
It’s a really good guitar for the money!
@@summitguitars1137 I tried the hummingbird it does not have a good sustain for 799. I ordered the Excellente on backorder who knows when the hell ill get it..
I’m satisfied with mine. Very good sustain
What strings are you using. Finally just got mine
sounds great, would you mind sharing the chords to your demo piece?
Dmajor to dsus 2 snd then a and Em7 and last g
Almost fell asleep.
Guess I didn’t do my job
@@summitguitars1137 I understand the constraint you face re. a one minute clip, but I found that I wanted to hear a more dynamic range than your gentle picking. A bit of strenuous strumming to bring out it's volume and tone would have been nice. That guitar, I think could take some digging in. That's all I meant.
Sounds exactly how I like mine to sound. Very nice.
I love it But they say that the sound awful when plugged
What do you use strings?
Martin retro 12s
How do you feel about the guitar’s volume? I got one and it’s definitely quieter than my yamaha
Mine was fairly quiet at first. I have a tonerite that i used on it and it opened up great. Louder than my 2004 j 45
@@summitguitars1137 what do you mean by tonerite please?
Yes what is a tonerite.. and do you think this is better than the inspired by gibson line like the j45 and hummingbird inspired models?
No company makes guitars costing under $800 that are better than this range from Epiphone.
May i know the chords? Hah
If I knew I’d tell lol
Would you put this at the same quality as the mim strats? Trying to figure out if I want to get the Vtt or a road worn.
I like them better than mim. I have this one for sale on reverb
Did you order this off reverb? I have been looking at their stuff.
I did. Cool guitars!
That sounds incredible
It really is an amazing guitar for the money!
Anyone interested in the frontier or excellente I have both brand new in cases for sale just reply
I’m interested. Please email info to bigdaddygunsmoke@gmail.com. Thanks

Do you still have any?
@@captainprice3370 I do have the frontier still

音色真Nice 😎
How is the art on the pickguard holding up? Is it still fresh and vibrant?
Still holding up well! My playing style usually doesn’t beat up the guard too bad though
That baby rings...too bad they are out of stock everywhere..
I got lucky and picked up a used one. Great guitar!
It’s sounds awesome!! Was leaning towards getting an old Takamine F340 but highly contemplating spending the extra and getting one of these. Where is it made? Indonesia?
I believe so. It’s a great guitar for the money. Sounds better than most of my Gibson’s. Highly recommend!
oh man im in the same dilema is this guitar or a Takamine PTU now i gotta weight the pros and cons of each
I would pay £700 or around that price for that epiphone beauty than to spend nearly as much on a laminated back and sides Taylor 110e fuck me!!!!! i could not believe the greedy bastards can sell a laminated guitar for that price when they are mass produced!!! Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
I bought a Taylor 214ce two months ago. I sold it today, hated its tinny shitty sound. Ordered one of these. A few weeks lead time but I can wait....
@@PaulWilliamGibson did you get it? Is it good?
I think it's a great guitar. Ovangkol, while not historically correct to this model, is a great choice. For me it's VERY similar in tone to rosewood and the same wood used on the Taylor 414, which is very expensive. So $900 USD is quite a good buy, imo.
I agree. I think it’s a tremendous value and sounds better than most Gibson’s I’ve had and played. Snag a used one and you can’t lose.
Hey Mate, can you do a demo to hear how it sounds with electronics..thanks :)
Do they come with a case? Best demo yet btw
Thanks! It does not come with a case.
I’m definitely considering buying one. Thanks for the video
Hope this was helpful!
such a beautiful guitar! I love the sound of it as well as the pearl patterns on the fingerboard!
Sounds great!
Thanks!
this guitar sounds amazing
Thanks! Very happy with the purchase!
Hi I just got Excellente from Sweetwater-- It was delivered yesterday-- I have a question for you on weight-- my guitar weighs 5lbs 11oz it is the heaviest acoustic guitar I have every played-- I am kind of bummed by this. Do you know what yours weighs? I agree with your comment that the neck is heavy.. FYI, I also received a Frontier a few weeks back-- also from Sweetwater. My personal preference is for the Frontier-- it is much lighter, it has much lower action and the neck on the Frontier feels faster and smoother to me.. Tone-wise they are similar though they have different backs/side (ovankol vs Maple). Build on both is great. Appreciate any comments/thoughts you might have on weight... Appreciate your playing :) Thanks..
Hello, I agree with you. The weight is very heavy on mine. I have not hit the scale with it though. I have been using a ToneRite on mine to break it in a little. I’ll report back on weight. I’ll have to check out a frontier. I went with the Excellente as I snagged a rare used one. Despite the weight, it’s a guitar that quite honestly sounds better than most Gibson’s I’ve owned. Thanks for the comment!
I had a 77 d50 guild , heavy as hell, that's why it sounds so good. I have looked everywhere for a heavy guitar that wasn't old and beat, now I have to go try this one.
Should be to your liking
Hello, I can tell a difference on the Excellente. It has a deeper tone to it to my ears compared to when I first got it. Probably did two 72 hour sessions with the tonerite to notice. I really can’t tell much difference on my guitars that have been already broken in.
does it feel like made in...Indonesia?
Do a Masterbilt Frontier too please. my music store here in Canada won't get any in till Sept possibly later now
I would sir if I had one. The Excellente seems to be a tough get as well
@Edwin Estrada theres a nice newer preview of the Frontier and Excellente' up right now sounds great! Maybe I should get my pre order in, only can do 1 right now
You’ll love it!
Sounds Great!! What are your thoughts about the fit & finish and overall playability of it?
The finish is thin satin, which I prefer over thick gloss. Action was set pretty low. The neck is super heavy. It sounds really great in my opinion. Happy I purchased one!
I heard a demo of this guitar which sounded fine until they used the pickup, Then it was god awful! Your thoughts on the pickup?
The pickup is not the greatest, but it sounded pretty good blended with a tube amp. I never use pickups usually though
I am thinking to get this guitar and if I do I will definitely replace a new pick up
Epiphone Excellent and PM-1 Deluxe Dreadnought Which is the better guitar?
Composed with this guitar. Is it possible to record ??
Is it a good guitar?
Excellent guitar for the money! I really enjoy playing it and the tone.
My god, she sounds fabulous! Keep pumping these, mate!
Will do!
How are we hearing this? What are you running through?
Hey Johnny, Just acoustic being recorded on my iPhone. No editing or mics
@@summitguitars1137 cool👍thanks
Congrats for being one of the very first to own the newly-reissued Epiphone Masterbilt Excellente! Do you like it? I wished you recorded the video with your phone oriented in Landscape mode not in Portrait to show the guitar more. Anyway, thanks for sharing.
So far so good! It has a satin finish on it, which I like. The tone is crisp to my ears. The pickguard is beveled and thick. I was afraid it would have been thin and cheap. Very happy with my purchase!
Summit Guitars Glad you like it. Where did you buy it from?
I actually picked it up used on reverb for $650
Summit Guitars What? Is yours the new 2020 model?
It is. I had a new one on pre-order, but I canceled it when I found a used one pop up on reverb. Saved about $300
Please do if you have the time an other video in which you talk also i can understand better the totality of the instrument when i compare it with the voice i think there many people interested on this instrument
Gosh, it ROARS! Can you please make a review video? And maybe record with phone farther away, so the sound wouldn't be so distorted. How is the neck? Is finish thick?
It’s a fun guitar. It has a satin finish which I actually like on the guitar. I don’t know the neck dimensions, but it is comfortable. A little cramped for me, but most guitars are. I would say the tone is crisp, not overly bright. The pickguard is thick and looks like it is made well. The neck is super heavy. I’m very pleased with the guitar and think it’s a tremendous value. No regrets.
@@summitguitars1137 Thanks for a detailed answer! :) I'm asking because the funish is called "aged gloss". Epiphone's satin finish is amazing and very thin, and I hope this one is similar. Cause theur regular gloss finish is really thick and eats sound badly. Is this guitar sensitive to the light touch? Is it similar to rosewood guitars tone-wise?
The finish is super thin. You’ll be happy with it. To my ears, the tone is more crisp than rosewood
Reminds me of Koa. I’ll post more on dynamics as I haven’t put it through all the tests yet. Excellent sustain I noticed right away.
@@summitguitars1137 Damn, so glad to hear that! My favourite guitar is Epiphone AJ-500 RNS. All-solid sitka-rosewood long scake slope dread in satin finish. This guitar gives me everything I could ever ask for. Then I bought other Masterbilt, DR-500 MCE. Mahogany, dread, cutaway, thick gloss. It's nowhere near AJ tonewise. And that damaged my trust to modern Masterbilts a bit. That's why I wanna know so much about Excellente. If I ever buy it, it'll probably come abroad, so no previous playtests can take place. Thank you so much for taking time to answer me, pal! I'm eagerly waiting for new videos about Excellente. :)
Is this the 2020 Masterbilt? Sounds like a recorded blend of Mic and pickup?
It is the 2020 model. Recorded with iPhone. Acoustic only, no mic blend. I really like it!
