I am not an arborist or tree service but I do help to keep mtn bike and out off-road bike trails cleared if fallen trees and I'm looking for a good top handle to start using on these things. I'm leaning more towards a battery type so I don't have to carry extra gas and can put bar oil into an empty pop bottle. This video helped a lot about deciding which I should get. Thanks for doing this vid!!

Jake- why do you do so shallow a face cut, then beat on wedges to fall? I know that this is common practice, but it’s a hell of a lot of work! What is wrong with 50-55% face and 40-45% back cuts?

I have 2 neighbors that have Sugar Maples. I hate them because they drop a ton of seed copters every Fall season. It takes hours to clean up everyday and continues for months. The worst thing is that the seeds migrate and can grow new trees. I saw 3 trees growing near the back of our garage and the trunks are the size of a quarter which is too thick and deep to dig by hand. I cut them back for now. The other problem is there are 3 more but about 3 feet tall in neighbor's backyard behind us. I don't know if he knows they're there or doesn't care. I want to mention it to him but he doesn't look like the sort of person who's easy to approach. He's in his 40's and always looks grumpy. I'm frantic those trees if left to grow, will become huge. It's hard enough cleaning up every season without more of these trees. I never could understand why the neighbors planted these trees. We live in a residential neighborhood where homes are close to each other and yards aren't very big. All these trees do is cause problems as the seed copters get into everything you can imagine. You should see my driveway in the Spring. The birds are nesting and constantly flying back and forth to the trees and dropping a ton of bird droppings on our driveway. These trees would be better suited in the rural countryside, but not an urban area. I wish I could move, but can't. If the trees just dropped leaves, it wouldn't be nearly as bad and I could live with that, but the seed pods are an absolute disaster imo.

I think that when you count the time it takes for starting the gas saw up with the pulling of the string, vs, NOT having to "start" the battery saw, the cutting times are actually equal. Many videos I see, guys are constantly cutting off the engine, thus you have to add that time, each time you shut down. If you leave the saw running, the gas would beat it out every time!
