    Looks awesome. Was the original paint really bad? It actually looked not that bad on this? Beautiful job.were those new inside door panels or did you freshened the older ones?

      I spent around $5500 after the recent engine work. The only money I spent on labor was having the seat recovered, the rest of the labor was me and a friend. Also, had free use of a fully equipped shop with lift and paint booth. I could have spent another two grand easy if I didn’t have some free resources.

    • @maxgrey3741
      @maxgrey3741 Před 2 lety

      That is going to vary big time. I had a friend with a shop at his house. This shop also had a paint booth built into the end. The only part of the restore I didn’t do myself was having the seat reupholstered and ceramic tint on the windows. My cost was $4600

    @nickpalmer5826 Před 2 lety

    Starting restoration on my 83, Did you get all new interior trim and all that? If so Where did you find it. I can’t find a few of these pieces to save my life

    • @maxgrey3741
      @maxgrey3741 Před 2 lety

      I was fortunate that my truck had 90% of the original trim, inside and out. The few pieces I needed I found in junk yards in GA and NC. I would call, send a pic to a cellphone showing exactly what I needed if they agreed then wait for a callback. I contacted about 30 yards total and had received callbacks with the trim I needed within 30 days. That original trim makes these series F150's quite a bit more valuable. Don't give up. Thanks for watching the vid

    • @nickpalmer5826

      @@maxgrey3741 so mine is full and has every piece but stuff like the B Pillar trim is dry rotted and whatnot, and needs replaced and I’ve been told by the bullnose Ford groups I’m in on Facebook that no one makes that trim. They make everything else but not that piece so junkyards and part outs are the only way I can find them. Gonna be sad that I’ll have brand new door panels A pillars a dash and all that and some junkyard B pillar plastics 😂😂😂

    I have been driving my 83' for about 10 years. I want to get it restored, with some modest improvements. What did this cost ya? Rough estimate? I know it's cheaper if ya do the work yourself... so, having done the work yourself, how much did ya put into it?

    • @maxgrey3741
      @maxgrey3741 Před 3 lety

      I put $4300 into it. I think you have to consider the condition of the suspension, engine and trans when trying to calculating total restoration cost. The C-6 in this truck was in better than excellent condition, the 351 was in great shape (I put the new carb, intake and cams in for more performance) and the suspension was decent. If I had to do more with in either of those three areas the cost could have gone up significantly.
