Enigma vs. Sub-Belt | Enigma Evolution - How It Started

We have noticed a resurgence of the use of sub-belts in the concealed carry community. Sub-belts would be considered a typical belt, but being used under the pants in conjunction with a holster. In light of this Jon shares how sub-belts played a role in the process of designing what we now know as the Enigma, and why the design didn't stop at attaching a holster to a belt and putting it under c...

AIWB: Wedge Mistakes You'll Want To AVOID
Thank You!
Great tips! I have an LCP and the OS enigma. Constantly impressed with the setup and concealment. I look forward to trying a larger 9mm at some point as I can see what you’re saying about the lack of a quarter between the grip and the faceplate.
🤘🤙✌️
Interesting. I have an inexpensive Kydex IWB holster with one of those plastic clips that don't always hold on the belt well. So I am thinking about getting some Kydex sheets and make a 2" long "tunnel" loop. The clip attaches by two screws so I can drill it so that it makes an IWB cross draw that won't pull out with the gun.
I am a huge fan of hockey tape. It works wonders instead of medical tape and it is cheap and very durable/long-lasting as well as comfortable against the body. Hockey tape is available at most sporting goods stores for only a few bucks a roll and has some friction qualities so it keeps the holster and gun from moving around and shifting under your garments. It's also most usually available in black which matches the kydex nicely. I did exactly as you showed -wrapped the entire holster as well as let the foam go down and around the muzzle area to increase the keel effect and pad that area too for those times when I'm bent over double hard it does really help the poking. I get almost a year of daily carry before the tape needs to be touched up.
Pistol packing for 50+ years and learned something new ! Former lawmen get lazy about concealment because they have a "mastershield" to bail out of social errors of being detected, and civilian business types too, because its "assumed" that the clean cut dapper gunslinger is an offduty or plain clothes Officer. Have Gun Will Travel must be discreet.
great info!
C&G covert OWB holster are the way to go. If your chubs you definitely should be appendix carrying lol.
Thanks.
Great info! I have learned a ton from you guys over the years. Thanks for all the help!
Love seeing a Woman carrying AWIB and teaching all of us about getting the correct gear so we can carry more comfortable. Lord knows men would say "Suck it up" but having a woman talk about this subject is amazingly refreshing.
Where on your website can we order a Phlster gift card to give as a gift to a friend?
Groove.
Which belt do y'all recommend?
What if your body has all peaks and no valley? We are all built definitely how can we conceal
@@LucyLu70 check out our other videos about concealment sweet spot.
Im a huge fan of the EDC Foundation Belt and just tested the Grip6 Ninja belt, im impressed with the Grip6 Ninja Belt! ittle be in my rotation.
Groove Life belt for the best "stretch" option.
Great video
I actually lol'd at the nutnfancy reference at the end! (does that mean I'm old? Wait, is it possible to be old because you remember the good old days of CZcams? I'm in a spiral now)
I'm glad to see that both the Arcade and Grip 6 belts have made appearances in these two videos, because I have been strongly considering both of them.
Great tips here. When I got my Enigma, I just bought the Amazon belts that Rhett recommended in his deep carry tutorial videos. They're going strong and work fine over the last year or so.
Can't imagine having to unbuckle all of that when you're about to drop a deuce 😩
You don’t have to remove the Enigma to use the restroom. We have a video about this on the channel.
I haven't tried one yet, but this video made me think of the groove belt concealed carry belt. A belt with some stretch would help definitely help.
Great video! I'm an Unbelt fan, personally. 👍
Can it go from 3 o'clock to appendix then to cross-draw easily?
The Enigma is designed for appendix carry. You might be able to shift a belly band around more easily, but that’s typically to account for some other shortcoming (uncomfortable or doesn’t conceal well in specific circumstances, necessitating a quick adjustment).
I just attached my LCP II with my vedder holster. Had to drill a hole in the holster to fit the wing and the Enigma but it’s definitely works.
I love my new Enigma. The perfect and most comfortable type of holster for someone who primarily wears athletic clothing.
reason 8 - does not support TLR7 Sub :(
The Light Bearing Enigma OS is compatible with tons of TLR7 holsters.
I must be messed up or something. No matter what I do unless it's at 4 o'clock it's digging into me.
And now I know what a fulcrum is 😅
How about not wearing skin tight clothes showing off your private parts and then complaining that people sexualize yall. Pretty simple solution
For all those who still insist that kore belts is the "best", no. Kore is way too stiff/rigid!! Like a hoola hoop around the waist! Their quick adjust is good, though, but the buckle is too bulky and the release lever could be more ergonomic and streamlined.
What are your thoughts on the Groove Life edc belt?
Where can I FIND wedges to purchase? I have yet to see them sold individually from the holster… Thanks!
google phlster wedge
I have the Foundation Belt and wear it every day. I've had it for over 4 years and it's in great shape still.
What gun holster is that, that she has clipped ?
Nice
Loving this
I go between a edc belt foundation belt, an HC belt and a nexbelt aiwb…
Reason #8 PHLSTER doesn't make a holster to fit your gun (XD9 subcompact) and you don't want to gamble on fitting a 3rd party holster hoping it will fit.
We’re always happy to advise on the fit of a potential holster, in addition to offering the comprehensive feature compatibility guide.
@@PHLster Good to hear. That seems at odds with the disclaimer on the website though.
@@PHLster No one seems to make a compatible holster for the XD9 3" Sub-compact. No reason to switch guns. It's perfect. Seems it would be popular enough, I guess not.
KORE essential belts mostly Rotation between textile for work and leather outside of that. Great quality, offers rigidity, comfort and micro-adjustment at the touch of your fingers. Highly recommend
What about now? The TLR-7 HL-X has a larger footprint, and is the new META for common users, surpassing the TLR-1 in every way (outside of agencies with sunk cost on TLR-1’s). I hope you consider this…
I have the Hunter Constantine belt, it's pretty good, but starts to ache in the evenings if I've used it all day. Looking into the Comfort Concealment. I'm also using a gun that's over 40% though, so other than wearing tents it's difficult to completely conceal it
What belt are you using in video with the pink stripes?
I've had the Foundation belt and the Tenicor Zero for a while. Both are good, but I definitely prefer the Zero. I started with the Kore Essentials, but it's way too stiff, especially for something like a 43X.
I'm surprised the Grip6 belt seems to work. I am a little afraid of using a belt that only has a friction closure, but I loathe Velcro, because of the noise it makes. The least stealthy product ever invented.
I have a Beiler's leather cow collar that makes a great CCW belt. It's very thick leather, 1.5" wide, but it's also still flexible horizontally. You can find them at most farm supply stores, I treated mine with Feibing's neetsfoot oil, which you can also find at the farm supply. Obviously, it's a very casual belt, great for jeans, not so much for dress wear. I have also made a belt for myself out of polyester webbing and polyester and latex elastic, using plastic Fastex-type buckles, but it is better inside pants, and the plastic buckles can tend to be too wide to fit through many belt loops.
Unbelts Intrepid for the win!
Kore Essentials has the best gun belt by far.
It's way too stiff
I'm using a wilderness original instructor belt, 3 stitch, it has worked well for me. Mens size 32 waist including a doublestack glock.
I really like that company. They make good stuff!
