These lyrics make me think of someone disconnecting from god when taken at face value, doubting and resisting. Being miserable. Letting go of God. Then you hear the way they are sung on this track and its almost reverse. Its someone struggling with the devil, running from it, to God, asking for forgiveness, saying the thing that keeps him going is God, and cant he see how miserable he is, almost begging and crying for help.
