I have been thinking about getting a boox e ink device to have a dedicated ereader. Since I am an anroid/windows person, it seems like a flexible option. I have heard that there are now e ink computer monitors too, but not right now with my current finances.
Cheer~~~the outer layer of the cerebrum (the cerebral cortex ), composed of folded gray matter and playing an important role in consciousness.😊
Does Grey know that he can turn on triple tap on the back of his phone to access control center so that he’s never tempted to go into notifications?
Myke you can turn off your alarm with Siri, you don’t actually have to touch your phone or even even look at it
Why doesn’t Grey get one of those massive monitors? 😅
the idea that ai could possibly cause us to lose the skills to make art is ridiculous. We have massive farming machines but we still know how to do basic farming. Same with blacksmithing
…I do like the idea that Lady Grey wishes to care for Grey as carefully as she does the doggos. That is very very sweet.
When Are you uploading again?
secret garage office groffice
1:52 The lion the witch and the wardrobe reference?
I know he could never do this, but you can just not count the bar weight for a Smith machine. Yes you’re going to be about 20 pounds stronger but you can think about it as you’re not using any accessory stabilizing muscles so it’s probably a wash.
I know this video was from 4 years ago, and the actual podcast may've been from even earlier, but I'm chiming in anyway. If Myke identifies as left-handed, then he's left-handed! Many lefties are forced to adapt to a right-handed world. I'd say even if someone did nothing left-handed because they were forced to switch when they were young, if that person identifies as a lefty, then so be it.
I'm on the same boat, writing with left and right hand or side for power, AND I'm a dentist, I will always be on the right side of the patient UNLESS the angle can better be reached by my right hand then I switch! BUT I can't think about it, just do it without focus. See in your mind what you want to do and my right hand will do it. So I just say I'm ambidextrous, but prefer writing with left, throwing with right. Anything I do that requires delicacy is done with the left and anything that needs force is done with my right. Now when doing carpentry my hammer is behind me in the middle so both hands can reach it, but usually it's my right. The best part of this is when on hand/arm gets tired I just switch, so no need to stop.
Are these those weird little Facebook avatar things or are Metaverse avatars a different thing. Because I've always found the former weirdly unsettling, on top of never looking like the person they're meant to be.
Daylight computer for eink. Obsidian creator says obsidian is supported.
"I need new sunglasses... so I thought to myself why don't I get the one with the camera in them" Solid logic there 👏
21:20 - Ah yes, a F*** pack, useful for storing anything I need!
FINALLY! Someone actually recommending Hue for what they are! "Oh hue is old and expensive and you can get the same for cheaper" but with Hue you buy them, and they NEVER STOP WORKING. Makes me worry that they'll be discontinued because demand will dry up thanks to their quality and longevity.
Years ago I bought myself a shoulder-mounted fanny pack because I got tired of carrying my iPhone, wallet, keys, and other things I need to always have on me when I go outside, in my pockets. It’s just really uncomfortable. The fanny pack changed my life! I highly recommend it.
Not me window-shopping the cortex product everytime they show up to remind myself of how I want it yet I'm still a broke student Sigh Let's just listen to state of the apps
Lol, "fanny pack" is a no-no word outside the US.

Damn you called out the “her” situation 1 whole year ago
Damn going back in time for this episode reminded me of that Corona anxiety
It never ceases to baffle me that Myke thought Grey would like Stardew Valley 😆
1:26:53 Grey calling it a "boot up routine" and saying it's how he prepares to be a human for the day is not helping his case against not being an actual robot 😆
I think about this every time I see a progress bar.
the maths into math slider is so good
The problem isn't generative AI so much as the intersection of AI and late capitalism. 'The Market (TM)' doesn't care about skill or creativity - only what can be sold.
"AAAAAAAHHH! CAPITALISM IS SO EVIL!!!"
Well, things that can be sold are the things people are willing to pay for. As a result, this boils down to if a group of people, big enough to make it economically viable, cares about things like human creativity. If they do, capitalism is designed to support it, if they don't, I don't really see any point in supporting it because then it would just live off someone else's money. This is literally economics 101 because the main function of the market is to decide if people care about something enough (if they are willing to sacrifice enough of their work (or other things saved in their money) for it) to make it worth producing it. At least try to research the concept you are fighting against
I think that even a year ago, you dismissed the visual output too quickly as less interesting than the text output. Both hit the same visceral response from me - this is artificiality imitating us in such fidelity, and in ways that feel like human processes. We only have a grasp on what our minds are and what they do after thousands of years of philosophy, medicine, and psychology. That we can suddenly produce something that does the same things, in a way we can understand instantly - it's shocking to suddenly recognize your own ghost in the machine. And then, you notice that sometimes it lies, and invents falsehoods. You see that its art, when it has so many examples of human physiology, still has to be reminded what the thing that created it looks like. What I feel about AI is xenophobia. It is Strange, not just Artificial.
Let's be honest. We may have arguably thousands of years of philosophy (my least favorite social science, so I'm not confident to correct anything about it) but we certainly don't have thousands of years of psychology and medicine. The modern positive psychology is a new science, and while there probably were some random attempts to use psychology in a practical way long before it, it exists as an actual science discipline only for a few centuries. Medicine is much older, but it was about fixing broken legs for a long time. Psychiatry, the part of medicine focusing on behavior, is even younger than psychology, and it was very primitive even in the last century. Modern science is actually quite new (except for math and maybe parts of biology), it has just grown really rapidly in the past few centuries. Now for the part discussing ai, I don't think large language models are that similar to human behavior and they actually don't borrow almost anything from the fields you named. They were very slightly inspired by neurology, but that field of medicine studies the brain more on a low level and doesn't care about the behavior. You might felt they understand emotions for example, which is partially true, but they understand them more in the way they are trained to be expected to associate sadness with hearing about a planet sized asteroid hitting your house. It isn't natural for them like for humans (even a 3yo kid can understand the asteroid thing without reading any book, ai has to learn this thing is sad). In the other hand, humans were also trained to feel emotions, but it was from natural selection instead and the books are a result of it. Oposed to it, ai uses the books as a source, so it mainly mimics the human emotions from them. If every book contained a note, that the asteroid is a happy event, it would mimic so. This things are definitely interesting, but nowhere close to something intelligent. It just has a huge lookup table for putting things in context it is commonly referenced in (if I simplify a lot)
I don't really disagree with you; I think the points where you seem to disagree with me were actually ambiguous enough to be miscommunication on my part. My intention was to emphasize the Uncanny Valley nature of generative AI's results. Knowing that we can't even really understand human intelligence - we have more practical skills related to it than theoretical knowledge - it seems utterly bizarre that people rush to welcome something even less understood under the hood. It's deeply weird that the results are so rapidly less and less like gibberish, but I can't feel like I'll get to the point that I'll trust it as I would a human, or even distrust it the same way. It's frankly insane that I've seen people call the recent improvements a "solution to loneliness". Generative AI squicks me out, in other words.
Graph of the year AGAIN CALENDERS is by far the best quote ever
Laughed when I heard Grey say “this *video* was brought to you by…”
Wait, is Grey an actual robot?
1:21 : typical robot jump
The more I listen to Grey the more I'm convinced he's insane
Starting my journey from the beginning all the way to the end, wish me luck. I will be back to update you once I finish my journey.
This and the original video are literally just immortalist propoganda. They paint everyone who don't agree with them as morons, and disguise it all behind a pretty animation / "it's just a story"
Grey in 2016: "Look, this is part of CZcams tradition: You're not supposed to remove your old videos that are unrelated." Grey now: *has privated the Time Management for Teachers and daisy chain computer cable videos* *…SIGH*
The trick with keeping a uk house cool is close the curtains. They are well insulated so if you can keep the sun out they'll stay cool for a long time
