Hello again, in this video you will find how to make a HiFi speaker driver "midwoofer" at home apart from magnet assembly that you can use one from another HS speaker driver.
i've been thinking about making my own speaker for a long time, i have already made a tweeter with which i did the test on this video, and now it's time to make a speaker driver "midwoofer" that sounds really very good.
thank you for your support to homemade audio channel, i hope you like the video.

    "Pro": Only in this case, the voice coil works cooler because it is much more exposed to the weather outside. "Cons": The final sound is totally changed due to a drier, more annoying sound, since ceramic magnets are preferred par excellence for their magnetic damping capacity to sudden and repetitive changes in the magnetic polarity of the voice coil. To solve this defect with Neodymium magnets, another diameter of voice coil must be used that resonates with the woofer casing, using a more robust casing to avoid harmonic fluctuations produced by the bending of a weaker casing which is not structurally prepared to withstand large magnitude torsion. You should also consider changing the cone material to a much stiffer and thinner one or use another type of cone material that is much softer than the original and thicker. Changing the permanent ceramic magnet for a neodymium one in a speaker with these characteristics, just like that, only worsens the final sound and good results are not obtained if its structural manufacturing characteristics are not considered.

    Вот же ш круто, а зачем? Чем ферритовый магнит не устроил? Наверное чтобы порвать диффузор, нарушить заводскую подвеску, растворителем испортить резиновое кольцо, которое через пол года рассыпется. Да ещё чтобы пыль и мелкие металлические опилки попадали в зазор между катушкой и пластиной

    I was given two 10" subwoofers but I'm into low output single ended valve amps and these things are so stiff. I was about to throw them out when I saw this video, I might take the horribly stiff rubber suspension off them and make them into much freer and sensitive drivers. America...only takes you to main site, not specific parts. Searching for the caps has become a nightmare. What did you do about the 3 mf cap? Audyn doesn't have any of the caps on ebay. Mundorf similar problem. Also, do you need 60+ volt caps? They're not showing those, either. Finally, where can we get the binding posts?

    You did not explain at all about the values of the capacitors. Everything is fine and dandy, but except for 8 ohms, you didn't specify where they belong. If you already bring such a beautiful video, a little more effort, what are the values of the other capacitors?

    • @homemade_audio
      @homemade_audio Před měsícem

      in this video I just show how to replace the old JBL 4411 capacitors with recent capacitors of good quality no more, for any other speaker we change the capacitors with others that have the same characteristics but of good quality, everything changing capacitor values will result in a different sound and unbalanced speaker response

  • @efiweisman8779
    @efiweisman8779 Před měsícem

    The values of the capacitors are a little strange. Going down to the level of 1 microfarad per tweeter is an exaggeration. 4 This is normal. And a woofer can get 36 to 50 microfarads. Anyway I loved your video. I have a bigger problem and it seems that my woofer is knocked out. I have already tried all the capacitor values. And nothing helps. Awesome work. Sounds Great. Now you just need to make a 3" Dome midrange, and a Passive Radiator... and you will have a speaker that competes with some of the best speakers out there. The only criticism I have, is the use of bolts for the Spacing. I think it would have been better to cut actual spacers from some metal pipe, so that you didnt have any potential for spacing errors... nor any potential issues with nuts coming loose from long term vibrations. Id love to see your take on a copy of the Phillips Woox passive radiators. If you google them, you will see that each Woox unit, use TWO Accordion like flat-cones... spaced apart about 1 inch. The spacer has air vent holes between them. I used to own the Woox speakers.. but mine died due to Foam Rot. However, I believe Phillips made some Woox passives out of Flexible Plastic... that would have theoretically lasted forever. I found it interesting that they used two cones, instead of a single cone... like most passive radiators. But I do love the dual expansion ring design... which allows them far more extension than a typical passive radiator. According to the speaker Driver designer + Mfg. in Taiwan... they made the woofers specifically for the Phillips Woox speakers. One of their features, is a greater Travel / Extension... to help prevent distortions, and to provide deeper / lower bass potentials. Id often thought about trying to replicate the woox myself, using a few speaker repair kits of different sizes... and gluing them together. Of course, I wanted to make a larger sized version... maybe 12 inches in diameter... for use with 8" woofers.

    Questions: 1st, why didn't you clean the basket entirely before (!) installing the magnets and the rear plate? 2nd, why didn't you measure the TSP's before and after the modification? Only these would give you predictable response in a certain enclosure. 3rd, why did you use just 8 magnets instead of 12, or possibly 16? There appears to be much more space for them!

    Assuming the smaller magnets around the periphery actually produce a stronger field in the core it will cause less overshoot of the cone, improving the bass, and a little higher speaker efficiency. I watch these videos to learn about speaker construction so I can do better repair work on old radios.
