MOST Underrated City In Europe? | Ljubljana, Slovenia 🇸🇮 | Why You NEED To Visit | Travel Vlog
Join us on an unforgettable day trip from our home in North Italy to the enchanting city of Ljubljana, Slovenia! 🌍 Just a short two-hour drive away, Ljubljana is a hidden gem bursting with charm, history, and culinary delights. In this video, we'll take you through the city's most iconic sights, delicious local foods, and unique experiences that make Ljubljana a must-visit destination. 🎥✨
Exploring the Iconic Sights of Ljubljana 🏰✨
Our adventure began in the heart of Ljubljana, where we were immediately captivated by its vibrant atmosphere and stunning architecture. One of the first stops on our journey was the iconic pink church, officially known as the Franciscan Church of the Annunciation. 🌸 This beautiful Baroque church is a landmark that stands proudly in Prešeren Square, offering a picturesque view of the city center.
Next, we made our way to the majestic Ljubljana Castle, perched atop a hill and offering panoramic views of the city. 🏰 Dating back to the 11th century, the castle is a testament to Ljubljana's rich history and offers fascinating exhibits and a captivating funicular ride to the top. Don't miss the chance to explore its towers and enjoy the breathtaking scenery!
As we strolled through the city, we couldn't resist a visit to the lively Ljubljana Central Market. 🥕🍇 Here, we discovered a vibrant array of fresh produce, local delicacies, and handmade crafts. It's the perfect spot to immerse yourself in the local culture and pick up some unique souvenirs.
Crossing the Dragon Bridge 🐉
No trip to Ljubljana is complete without crossing the iconic Dragon Bridge. This unique bridge is adorned with four dragon statues, symbolizing power, courage, and greatness. Legend has it that when a virgin crosses the bridge, the dragons will wag their tails! 🐉✨ It's a must-see landmark that adds a touch of magic to the city's already enchanting ambiance.
A Taste of Ljubljana: Local Foods and Wine 🍷🍴
One of the highlights of our trip was indulging in the local cuisine. Slovenian food is a delightful blend of Central European flavors, and we couldn't wait to try some traditional dishes. Here are a few must-try foods:
Potica: A delicious rolled pastry filled with various fillings such as walnuts, poppy seeds, or tarragon. It's a traditional Slovenian dessert that pairs perfectly with a cup of coffee. ☕🥧
Kranjska Klobasa: Also known as Carniolan sausage, this flavorful sausage is made from high-quality pork and seasoned with garlic and pepper. It's often served with sauerkraut and mustard. 🌭
Štruklji: Rolled dumplings that can be savory or sweet, filled with ingredients like cottage cheese, walnuts, or apples. They are a versatile and delicious treat. 🥟🍎
We also had the pleasure of sampling some of Slovenia's renowned wines. 🍇🍷 Slovenia boasts three major wine regions, and each produces unique and exquisite wines. We recommend trying a glass of Rebula (a white wine) or Teran (a red wine) to experience the rich flavors of Slovenian viticulture.
Why Ljubljana Should Be on Your Travel List 🌟
Ljubljana is often overlooked in favor of more famous European capitals, but it's truly an underrated destination that deserves more recognition. The city effortlessly combines a rich history with a modern and vibrant lifestyle, making it an ideal spot for travelers seeking an authentic and less crowded experience. 🏙️✨
The city's compact size makes it perfect for a day trip, but don't be surprised if you find yourself wanting to stay longer. With its friendly locals, stunning architecture, and delicious food, Ljubljana offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere that will leave a lasting impression.

    I keep wondering how and where the old buildings in Bucharest are Soviet? Romania was not part of the Soviet Union.

    • @vernonandmaryana
      @vernonandmaryana Před 17 hodinami

      Soviets were involved in building projects in Romania, particularly after World War II during the early communist era. Many residential blocks and public buildings in Romanian cities exhibit the functional and austere characteristics of Soviet architecture. Romania was never part of the Soviet Union. However, it was a satellite state within the Eastern Bloc under significant Soviet influence during the Cold War.

    What did you eat there at the 7th minute of the video, it's called "Trippa", it's meat from the belly of a cow, pork or sheep. You had the cold version, but there is also a hot version, it's called "Tripa alla romana" (a dish cooked that contains cow's belly).In my country Romania, soup is made from cow's beef, I think the recipe comes from Turkey. After reading the comments, I am confused. The romanians claim that their country is safest, yet they're so rude here in the comments torwards foreign tourists that dare to go in there and explore and express personal opinions! So uncivilized! So uninviting

      That’s always the case. People there were very kind and helpful. Online people become so brave and opinionated. Most of the people that are rude don’t even live in their own country anymore. The same goes for Italy, we live there now. And you would think from reading online Italians are super rude, but they’re not. Me ( maryana) i’m not even American yet hey all love to assume. That’s why we started this CZcams channel, to show true travels and to show how things are with our own opinions and thoughts. No country is perfect but there’s always something wonderful about it. It’s easy to be an online troll and to be rude. Don’t let online people like that discourage you from traveling.

      Most places here now take card but I’d commend possibly having 400-500 in euro in cash. In case you want to go to some markets, souvenirs, street food and some bars (don’t take card). For luggage storage, most hotels have a hold for bags. Always check reviews on google. There’s a website that we used before stowyourbags that you can book lockers online.

Also, you can make reservations a lot of times through Google Maps. Also, don’t forget Venice has started the tourist tax. Check to make sure the dates you’re going are not affected. If you’re spending the night there, you don’t have to pay, but I still believe you do need to register.

    Possible reason for validation of train tickets: preventing them from being used again?

  • @ceoninja
    @ceoninja Před 18 dny

    Regarding validation of tickets, the issue stems from the way train tickets work in Italy (and in many european countries). The basic fare you pay, gives you permission to ride a train from A to B, on a specific railway class, but with no link to any specific train, date or time of travel. Basically, you can go from A to B any time you want, (technically) once. This way of ticketing accounts for situations like needing to from A to B while getting off at multiple stations and re-boarding, which is a scenario that used to be a lot more common in the past. The problem with this way of ticketing is that in the past people would get on the train, evade the ticket officer (or sometimes, a ticket officer could just not check their ticket in a timely fashion) and get off the train at their destination with a fully valid ticket in their pocket which they could then use again since it was not marked by a ticket officer. Because of this, they introduced Ticket Validation, that is you need to stamp your ticket the day you board the train, so that even if a ticket officer does not come and check your ticket, it's now void for further runs and cannot be recycled. Because of the reasons behind Ticket Validation, it does not apply to any ticket that is explicitly linked to a time and date. For example, if you book a Frecciarossa ticket with a reserved seat, that ticket is bound to a specific train on a specific date and time and it does not need any validation at the railway station.

    Dont visit big cities. Visit the countryside and small town. You will see better landscapes, eat better food and spend half of money. And you will avoid immigrant scammers and robbers. Scammers and pickpocketers in italy are ALL immigrants, not italians.

  • @manuele4513
    @manuele4513 Před 18 dny

    Dear friend, because you are an honest person, you don't get there. Some "smart ones" used the same ticket several times (evading controls). For this reason in Italy we must validate the ticket
