Half of Rose etude no 4
zhlédnutí 96Před 4 měsíci
85 bpm. Lowkey kinda messy. Just working on my tongue and fingers for right now, but I'm gonna have to go back and clean it up. Also ignore the end. I move way too much when I play 😐

One of the last runs of this etude finally Wish it was a little cleaner, especially in the 32nd notes but I’m overall happy where I’m at.

I'm sure you had the skill to go much faster! Conductor🤔
I love this! I'm getting a used clarinet soon so I can play the same piece. LOVE IT
That’s amazing Chase. Well done 👍
Yoo that's nice
Great job! 👏🎷
Thank you very much!
love this fr very clean and clear
Thank you!
Yo I saw area e results gj! Do you have any advice for an incoming freshman next year?
Really take the time to make sure everything is detail orientated. You'll find that most kids have good tone but lack technical and musical aspects of the etude. If you really focus your energy on areas in the etude making them clean, nice, and musical you'll find yourself outweighing most of the competition. Saying this though mean that it takes a lot of slow and excruciating practicing with A LOT of reps. So you really have to be focused and disciplined while doing it.
What etude is this?

thank you@@problematic6307
Congratulations on first chair man!
Thank you!
How did region go ?
Made state!!! What about you?
@@chaseskemp same! see you there
also were you 5A or 6A?
@@areszhou4759 5A, didn't want to risk 6A my first year 😭Also CONGRATS!!!!! What region are you?
I'm region 19, Area H and I did 6A this year
Wow this is very good
Ah what a classic. 18 from the 32. Had it my freshman year. I'd recommend practicing your scales in thirds for the entire range of the clarinet and trying some Bb major arpeggios from the Baermann book (it's on IMSLP)
Cool, I'll definitely take a look! Thanks
Good playing, a few things. I’d appreciate more dynamic contrast throughout. you should slow down at the meno mosso section, because it’s a different style.z (and that’s what meno mosso means) And finally I’d say your 32nds were a bit uneven. It could use some work with a metronome, but fingers are clearly there, good job!
Thanks! I’ll keep that in mind!
Awesome !
That’s awesome Chase !
another day of wishing i lived in texas so i could audition for states with etudes
Atleast you tried
Wonderful performance man.

Hey! You sound reeaally good. You got all the notes and rhythms down, and I appreciate the fact that you chose to learn this etude at a reasonable tempo, rather than jumping into it really fast and ending up with sloppy fingers. Your tone is phenomenal; I rarely hear other ppl especially in high school with a tone as clear and dark as yours (it's something I struggle with personally lol). The feedback I'm gonna give you is really nitpicky, but it's just a few small things I heard that could make this even better. Firstly I would work on the 32nd note runs in measure 14. Although you are getting all the notes in, I hear a little bit of compression, and the 3rd note of each group of 32nds (I think) isn't getting all the value it should. Imo it's important to make these runs as solid as possible at this tempo, so when you speed it up, your muscle memory will kick in and it'll just be light work for you. I think the cause of this (for the second run in 14) is that you're anticipating that jump from the B flat down to the F (which is difficult to begin with) so you're trying to get that note out a little too fast and it's making that A right before it almost nonexistent. Another tip is that in the meno mosso section, at the end of measure 22, I would hold that high D out a bit longer, and take a second to breathe. Although it's still in time, if I'm a judge or even just a listener, I'd wanna appreciate every bit of your tone color on that altissimo note, since getting any altissimo note to be in tune and sound as dark as you're making it is pretty dang difficult. At first I thought you chose to do that because you had a silent metronome going on or smth, which you couldn't afford to get off with, but then I heard you pause after a couple other breath marks later on in the etude, so if I were you, I'd definitely do that here. Other than that, I really couldn't find anything else that stood out to me. I have no clue what area ur in, (ik it's somewhere in Texas tho lmao), but playing all of your etudes like you did this one would easily allow you to advance to area, at least where I live. I wish you the best of luck, and happy practicing! :)
Cool thanks! I’ve heard others play the meno mosso D longer, I’ve been doing it short for some time now and I my private lesson teacher is very picky about that stuff, but I can definitely ask about it! I’ll definitely keep in mind about the 32nd notes! Thanks for your feedback!
My friend got into ILMEA for clarinet and my other friend got in for trumpet but I didn’t audition because I forgot to practice the music for audition and it was in a weird key for my instrument
ofc!! and yeah do what your lesson teacher says@@chaseskemp

i play clarinet too. any tips?@@chaseskemp
@@aestheticgirl444 practice long tones everyday, work on tonguing excersises really making sure you’re accurate where you place the tongue, no matter the note. And play everything SLOW. Really work on your technique and you’ll get the music down a lot easier that way.
as a percussionst, u sound pretty good
Thanks!
Wow your really good- I’m not that good playing it tho..😭
Thank you! Practice slow, and work on tone. I found that very helpful during my practice sessions
That’s awesome Chase !
Thank you! 😂
Yo weird question but can I listen to your audition recordings (I got second in the mock audition)
I can see if I can post it on the channel
