Potato pancakes :3 agreed, but must reinforce: if you show up as a straight, for however long you are straight, you MUST spend time learning about queer culture and how to be in community. If you are going to a drag performance, you bring cash. If you are going to a gay club to dance, you dont take over. If you see a homo in distress in front of your other straight bros, you dont pile on them. If you wanna be around the queer community for whatever reason (eg you feel safer, men dont chase you, etc.), you still need to do your homework like the baby queers, even if you are straight your whole life. Yes, female privilege is a thing. There are certain positive attributes and positive reinforcement afforded to women that aren’t necessarily granted to men. You, along with others have implied that these are not legitimate privileges due to them coming with opposite and reciprocal drawbacks and I find that to be disingenuous because it’s obviously something people will point out selectively with women, but not men. One example would be a study that found teachers actually giving girls better grades than boys even when they had an equal performance. Typically things like that would be called out of the benefactors were men/boys but since it’s women/girls, not much is being done. There’s also the classic example of people saying that women being given lenient sentences is actually misogyny at play because of the indirect assumption that women are weak/fragile, while conviently ignoring bias against men. These concepts are always gonna feel dishonest if people fight tooth and nail to forward this “man do the bad, women suffer the bad” narrative
