Restoration of a Rusty Omega Seamaster Professional watch - Severe Water Damage
This is an Omega Seamaster Professional 300m, ref. 2552.80.00, powered by the 1109 movement. It was produced in the early 1990s, and is a smaller (36mm) version of the famous 007 Seamaster.
The watch has major water damage. All moving parts are completely seized.
The watch is disassembled and inspected. Damaged parts are replaced and the movement re-assembled and oiled. The case and bracelet are fully restored.

zhlédnutí 55KPřed 5 měsíci
This Tissot Seastar 46587-3X needs a full restoration. There are many small issues that have to be fixed. ASMR, no talking. The watch is powered by cal. 2571. The base movement was developed jointly by Tissot and Omega and also used in some Omega watches without the day complication with a cal. number 1481. The watch is running poorly. Crown is loose. Day/date complications have several issues....

    My guess, whoever owned this watch didn't screw the crown down all they way, before they played in the water. It's not uncommon. Great restoration job!

      Thank you so much! I was working on and off with this watch over a few months, doing other projects while waiting for parts etc. It's hard to say the exact hours but it was a lot!

      Thank you! I used Revell brand enamel (model) paint. It's not especially hard but enamel paints are easy to get in small quantities and various colors and work well when painting recessed numbers like this.

    What oils/greases did you use fo0r this movement? I have a similar one, tissot 794, and im stuck. I dont know what oils i should buy.

    • @ChronoWorkRestorations
      @ChronoWorkRestorations Před 9 hodinami

      I used various Moebius lubricants, 8217 for the barrel wall, 8200 for the mainspring, 9504 for the keyless and calendar works, 9415 for the escapement, 9104 (HP 1300) for high torque pivots and 9010 for high speed pivots. That's a lot of different lubricants, especially if you have to buy all at once. They'll last very long but do have an expiration date. I only have experience with Moebius lubricants, but Molykote DX should work well for keyless etc. If you're just starting out or practicing and don't want to spend so much on lubricants, you could use Molykote DX for keyless works and Moebius 8000 for everything else and then get the more specific lubricants later on.

    Saved from the scrap man. But curious of the final cost. Brilliant restoration/rebuild. Liked and subscribed. John. Oh I also own a seamaster, I wear it every day and love it, it's a perfect time machine.

      Thank you! The final cost was around $1,700. Not exactly profitable, but that wasn't the goal with this project. Seamasters are great, glad you're enjoying yours! Thanks again for watching!
