Probably my favourite documentary. There is a BBC version and a PBS version. The PBS version was shortened to 2hrs. They left out all the stuff about Cape Hateras and Torpedo Alley and the U-boats off the coast of the US destroying ships because of course they left that out. They also removed a few interviewees and some of the songs/poems/limmericks or whatever by that one guy. I watch this over and over. This video is a bit darker than mine but happy to see it here.

So glad you have put this up on CZcams, I spent a lot of time 2 years ago finding a VHS just to watch this again. The music makes this so memorable as a child.

Flying Scotsman is the only survivor of his class that is preserved by Alan Pegler and the National Railway Museum

It’s so sad that we have one A3 in preservation which is Flying Scotsman but I wish we could have more Gresley A1s and A3s in preservation as well as some running on the mainline for rail tours.
