As your car reaches near 100,000 miles, It's time to start thinking about changing out the timing belt. What wrench would I need to? Would it specifically be a torque wrench I’d need to use ?
The torque wrench is just for those final couple of turns to make sure you tightened the drain plug back up to the right spec. For removing and screwing the drain plug back on, you just need a simple ratchet and socket.
I can say this for all of us that this video just saved me $1000 dollars

What timing belt kit did you use or recommend ?
I used the Aisin: TKF-012 which is for the WRX STI (2015 - 2021)

Is there any reason you didnt lock the cams before taking the belt off so it didnt jump at all? Or was it just a demonstration as to what would happen if one forgot? Waiting for my tool right now. Great video!
Thank you!! You can lock the cams before taking the belt off but sometimes they may still shift a bit throughout the process of changing the timing belt and I wanted to show how to adjust them if necessary. Best of luck with your timing belt change ✌️

Should I change my oil before dyno? Even I hasn't reached the mileage range required to do the oil change
I guess it depends on how long you've had the oil and what you and the person operating the dyno prefers. I personally wouldn't worry about it too for just a few dyno pulls
this should be better than the 2005 live adaptation garbage we got
Did you use a spark plug socket with a small swivel?
Yes, a swivel joint makes this job a lot easier!

oh, yes I did have one that had a socket with swivel joint attached as one piece but it didn't allow as much movement compared to the one I used that were in separate pieces so if you had to choose just one, I'd go for the one as separate pieces
Where did you get those jack stands
I bought mine on Amazon but you can get these Esco Jack stands from similar online shops or maybe even some auto parts stores
I have question , if you have the 23 cam lock why didnt you lock it from the beginning when you took belt off ? Just asking i gotta do mines
You can lock it before taking off the belt, I put my Company 23 cam lock tool on before removing the belt but if it's not on secure enough the cam gears may still shift a bit

Thanks, this is the most comprehensive video I've seen. Most skip over a number of important steps. This guide gives me a lot more confidence to do this on my Legacy GT. One small note for others, is if you have an automatic, there probably won't be any belt guards.

Drain plug pound per torque ?
I've seen anywhere from 30 to 34 ft/lbs for the oil drain plug, I typically aim for around 33 ft lbs
I wish you went into more detail about how to get the bank 4 coil pack back in, because I have been absolutely struggling to get it back in. For one hour now and I cannot seem to figure it out. You kinda flew over it in this video.

The 2005 one wasnt too terrible. The only things i didn't really like was Itsuki as the leader of the speedstars and Takumi's dad being a violent drunk because I'm pretty sure he wasn't an alcholic originally. Otherwise it was a decent car movie. Should've had Keisuke in it but ya win some lose some. The new one from Sung Kang should be good though definitely plan on seeing it once it gets made.
Yea the 2005 one wasn't too shabby, I think there was a bit too much to fit in one movie that they ended up leaving out key characters and mixed up a couple important sequence of events but I'm looking forward to seeing what Sung Kang can do
@@STi_Alan I agree. Even though they set it up for a sequel they probably thought it was good enough to cram as much in there as possible in case it didn't do too good. If they had made it longer than an hour forty five minutes it might've been paced a bit better

Thanks! I saved this. I’m always concerned jacking up the front from the pinch welds because I wasn’t comfortable trying to squeeze the jack stand in there on the same pinch weld. I knew about using the rear diff but I loved the variety of options you provided. Keep up the helpful vids for us that need more detailed instruction. Now I’ve gotta get these wheels swapped! Later!

Which I thought I had? Either way, I'll subscribe again.. For context, we've owned Subaru vehicles since the late 80s/early 90s. Currently/still own our '20 STI (as well as a few others, such as my daily, a B9 Audi S4).

Any suggestions on how to re-install the coil? I cant seem to fit it back into place no matter what i try
Cylinder 4 might require a bit of extra maneuvering and patience. I was able to get the coil pack in with the bolt facing the wrong side in order to get the boot over the spark plug, then I could rotate it to the correct position
