You are NOT your work | How do you define self worth?
How do you create self worth? Do you define your worth by the art or work that you put out in the world? I'm hear to tell you to stop. That's what I've just realised. For too long i've been judging myself by the work I put out in the world and the type of photography i've been producing but I've realised that I AM NOT MY WORK. What you do doesn't define WHO you are. Bit of a philosophical one this one but it felt right to make just incase it helps someone who was in a rut like I've been.

Finding my WHY, when it comes to photography | North Yorkshire Moors
zhlédnutí 259Před 7 měsíci
Why do I even take photographs? What's my style? What kind of photographer am I anyway?! I go for a walk on the North York Moors with my Sony A7iv to do some landscape photography and talk through my creative struggles. At the end of the day....take the photos that make you happy. Take the photos that you want to take, don't take them because you think someone else might like them.
Winter Wild Camp | VERY cold and a VERY sketchy decent! I didn't think I was going to make it down!!
zhlédnutí 493Před 7 měsíci
Back out in the lakes for a very cold but stunning winter wild camp. It was -7 in the night and I was blessed to see the amazing Aurora Borealis, a life long dream! We got some snow overnight which made for a VERY challenging decent back into Seathwaite. I fell a good few times and I was lucky not to sustain a serious knee injury. Thank god I had my micro spikes and walking poles, otherwise I'd...

So long Yorkshire Lad Outdoors, hello Ryan Hunter! Nice review. Can u please tell if the camera's live view always show the proper exposure when changing the aperture or shutter speed. I bought one and the live view doesn't always changes especially in low light. It is showing bright but after taking the shot it's dark, not in bright light situations though.
warabout avin a shit.
I miss Leeds especially the market
Morning mate. Interesting video. The questions your asking are for your inner self. We have many masks. Farther, work, friend, husband. But sometimes we don't listen too are selfs. When we go camping, we don't always stop thinking about other things. Only when the phone is off do we listen to what is actually happening around us. Hope this helps.
Great stuff. I’m in a similar spot.
I prefer the Ricoh for street photography it’s much more discrete
I've had my tentbox classic for about 1 month now, and have found myself spending more time in it than at home 😂
Haha that’s class mate! I sold mine just over a year ago because we weren’t using it enough but I wish I’d kept it. I miss it! And they’ve gone up in price loads now too!
Fantastic channel, sir! Instant sub.
Couple of years ago I cycled a 50 mile loop which included the Cinder Track. Absolutely brilliant ride.
Happy New Year mate, loved tagging along on this. Amazing scenery
Really enjoyed this one mate 🥂💯
Wise words
Ive always found that chasing popularity eventually destroys creativity. When its your job its always a conflict, hard to manage. Good to find some separation and keep your passions alive. Love getting two uploads in two(ish) weeks..❤
We differ a bit mate, but ultimately agree on the stop sharing what you think others want to see. I fell into that trap too. Instagrams fault. Which I sacked off a while ago, so haven’t seen the posts you mentioned, but nice to listen to this. Cheers
Cheers Chris, appreciate the comment! Have a good Christmas mate!
Looks peaceful and quiet. Totally different from when I was there. Nice one mate
❤
Great wild winter hike and camp out. Just subscribed. Best wishes on the next adventure.
Ah thank you mate, really appreciate the sub! I’ll check out your channel! Atb, Ryan
Glad to see you back out and posting again. I really enjoy your adventures and videos. Thanks for sharing and Happy Holidays.
Welcome back. Been a while
Ey up mate! Yea, it’s been too long! Just life getting in the way of getting up the fells. I’ve had a couple of camps but just not filmed them. Thanks for watching as always mate, hope you’re well! Atb, Ryan
@@ryanhuntermedia sounds similar to me, didn't film any during the summer at all, but was nice to get back to it. Big fan of those microspikes, think I have the same ones. Perfect for loose and shallow snow on rocky paths, much better than crampons most the time for me. Light winds, nice night skies AND snow. Great night
@@chrishomer yea, they were a life saver! Wouldn’t have gotten down without them!
just joined your channel ,love it ,keep it up , good to see positivity coming out of Yorkshire

Bonjour
Great podcast. Really enjoyed it. Glad to know I'm not the only one looking at lightweight gear for longer treks....
Loved your video. Where would you recommend parking in Scarborough?
Hi mate, sorry I’ve only just seen this. Probably too late to reply lol but I parked in the car park next to the bus depot (opposite Tesco I think)
Nice job! Tent looks great
Great vid... Definitely encouraging me to get a tentbox. I was worried that they'd be good for campsites but not so much for wild camping but maybe I'm wrong haha. Could you share roughly where you parked/camped for the night here?
Just found this amazing show, I wish camping had more podcast like this. We all camp for a good reason this show shows that it lets people tell a story on why we do tent camp. As someone who has always had to battle with mental heath, Tent camping also my motorcycle to me saved my life.
Nice to see you out and about again matey
Truly beautiful man. Thanks so much for being vulnerable and opening up about your personal take on mental health. The judgement bit hit me, I need to work on this as well. I know this is 2 years ago. Just wondering how you’re doing now?
Been after a point and shoot for ages.. you may have answered my prayers 👌🏻👌🏻
it's an absolute belter! Thanks for watching and for the comment gadj! Glad the video has been useful for you! ATB.
Have you got any paid work yet or sold any images?
Hi mate. Yea I’ve done plenty of paid work as I’m a wedding photographer, and also do some corporate work. I’ve only ever sold 1 Image, from my landscape days. But to be honest, I’ve never really marketed myself to sell prints. Thanks for the comment mate.
@@ryanhuntermedia excellent
This was great, Ryan! Love the shots yo got here! Want to go to Newcastle now!!
Just subscribed after watching this video. Was interested in the Tentbox but have taken much more. Thanks man.
Ah thank you mate, I really appreciate the comment. Glad you got something from it! Ryan
For a moment I thought that Paul Messner had made it to your thumbnail as a model...

Had to smile at a couple of those, yes, not great 🤪 but great story and intent. Enjoyable to watch. Thanks
Cheers Chris, yea there was some dross in there 😂, but you’ve got to photograph a lot of frogs (or sommat like that?!)

Well done on your first wild camp, Ryan - and you picked a great spot!
This was great, Ryan! Love the shots you got!
I love your use of light, especially on the Queen's Arcade shots. Keep it up!
Thank you mate. 🙏
Good work that mate. Keep going! I’ll stick about. If you fancy a street trip into Manchester, give me a shout and I’ll be happy to show you about.
Thanks pal, appreciate the comment! Yea defo up for a Manchester shoot at some stage. Add me on instagram @ryanhuntermedia and we can sort something out in the future. Thanks for watching
I'm sticking around mate. It's quality interesting content. You keep turning it out. Who needs pigeon holes..
Thank you bud! Need to get a date in the diary to get back out in the hills. Sun’s coming out now so you’ll be able to go camping again 😉
Ryan that was fantastic mate. Brilliant shots and enjoyable to watch. I thought the fashion shot of the poster looking down was wonderful, and being able to hear your thinking on it. Superb. Do you know what? I love these types of videos. But there’s a huge lack of people doing them in a natural, genuine, layed back humble style that I can enjoy. You smashed it. Well done. Look forward to more
Thank you mate, it means a lot coming from you🙏. Really glad you enjoyed it. I enjoyed the process of shooting and editing this one, so looking forward to making more! Thanks again, Ryan.
The wildcamping/outdoors brought me to your channel and the photography will definitely keep me tuning in. The one early shot of the guy between the hanging uniforms was really good. Probably my favorite. Looking forward to keeping up with your work.
Ah thank you mate, I really appreciate that! Yea I liked that shot too! Thanks again for the comment! Atb, Ryan
So you did go for the name change - and a new direction as well. Best of luck with the "new" channel - I'll stick around as I'd like to see how you get on. ATB , Roger
I did yea! Thanks for the comment mate and thanks for sticking around! Atb, Roger
You seem quite honest with your reviews but I would love to give you some input in private and hopefully get into the same area
So much truth mate. I appreciate this video as someone going through it now!
Tis lil known fact that the pro 2 is made in the mountains of the shang ri la every tent lovingly crafted by the mythical monkey God's monkey's and sprinkled with magic fairy dust from the mountains of the legion of shadows and brought to you by the unicorns of clouds 👍
HI there thanks for the good information on your tent box I am thinking of getting one myself and your video is helped very much have you ever considered Salvation through Jesus Christ our lord and saviour as he is my King. The Bible tells us to repent and believe in Jesus for eternal life I enjoyed your video thanks very much bro god bless
It looks like Paul is a fraud, i have been watching a lot of his videos and enjoyed them, but i wonder how many times he sets up camp and then goes to a hotel. Interesting
They say you should never meet your heroes.
I never said he was my hero, what i am saying is that if you claim to be camping then you should be honest about it. Be who you say you are. I do like Paul and he has a lot of useful information and i will keep watching him but will not reply back to him as to not upset him. I was brought up to be honest with people on who I am. I guess that is old fashioned these days
After all we are supposed to be grown adults here
