Hana Ikada seems a bit more neon to me? This is such a pretty colour. I'm sad because I love Van Dieman's inks, but some leave a horrible red stain behind - in pens, converters, and especially white surfaces that clumsy people hapen to spill them on ;) Even the green and blue/purple inks leave the same stain since the refresh. I'm struggling to remember what color cherry blossoms are...which is crazy...as I grew up tending to a pair of cherry trees and always thought there were few trees that were prettier when covered in flowers than cherries. (apples second) Looking at photos online, I think this is spot-on for cherry blossoms in color...but online photos...colors...always hard to judge. I love the square-grid notebook you use as it gives an idea of how much, I guess "coverage" would be the term for paint, not sure what it is for ink, it would have. Yes! Hana ikada has a peach haze to me, which is why i thought i wouldnt like it 🤷 glad you were able to work out something to hold your phone!

Pen bestie and I talk all the time about the fountain pen writing experience being a combination of the pen, the ink, and the paper. Modify any of those three and the experience changes. Changing out the Col-o-Ring because the paper is annoying then means you can't compare your old Col-o-Ring's with whatever you replace them with as the paper changed. So I get sticking with it - I'd do the same - stick with it but for sure, complain about it. Hey Maria, you're doing great!

Hanna Ikada is definitely a nice warm pink and when layd down enough it can almost have an orangey undertone sheen :)

Well well a decent Pink ink again.. It did look peachy when put next to the other inks. I'm glad you found twine for your phone holder. I lost sight in my right eye during the freak accident and they had to operate. Now I have a bionic eye (Dating myself). I can see the Carbon, Hydrogen and Oxygen molecules in the Ethylene Glycol they put in the ink. I guess it all worked out huh? 💜

Yes …I would have started over because I just can’t take it BUT I admire your strength to push through it. The pretty color reminds me a lot of Yama Budo…love it!

I like the use of "we" - it's like we're there, participating in the process. Normally, I would have tossed the misspelled card and started over, but lately, I'm giving myself permission to make mistakes. We're human, it happens, don't hate your imperfections, IMHO it makes us human. This color is growing on me - when you were writing and it was thick and dark, it looked like Lamy "Beryl" to me which is a favorite. (and a sample I got randomly where I was like "oh heck yeah" and bought the full-sized jar) Flying phone didn't scare me, I'd read ahead in the comments and knew it was coming. :) Hey Maria, you're doing great! 🥰🥰🥰

What a nice pink! And the name and timing is interesting - wife's middle name is Hope, and we had to put down our oldest cat yesterday (aggressive metastatic cancer) who was like a second child to her and a close pal to the rest of us here. I showed her this color and she loves it. I like to think that this ink coming up, the name, her loving it, and the passing of dear kitty are all related? To have hope? Or maybe I'm just reaching...but it's on the buy list. Yesterday was tough, we're better today. I'm a big fan of ink samples! I have several full-size bottles of ink that I regret buying...that I wouldn't have bought had I sampled them first...and I've got a mess of samples where I was like "oh heck yeah" and bought the big-honkin' bottle after. I'm not a fan of pink at the moment, but 30 days ago I wasn't a fan of stub nibs and now I am, so maybe I'll start to like pink? I'll watch all 30 and report back. I keep forgetting to ask where you get the page templates from that go behind your white paper? I should really get a graph one. Also, how do you make your straight lines so neet in your blank journal? I swear I am unable to make straight lines, even with a rule - they always wind up being diagonal and I always write too hard, so they wind up being very dark. Wish I could be so neat! That being said - I just start over if I'm not happy with a mistake and it's going to bug me. Some I can live with, others not so much, lol!

Samples for me are a fun way to try a color without the commitment of a bottle. About half of my bottles I got a sample of first. The other half is BPC. 😹 This pink definitely makes me hopeful… of finding the right pink so I don’t have to keep searching! 🤘🏼😸🧡🖋

I have a ton of ink samples when i first discovered fountain pens and Journalling. Those were mainly packs like Goulette must have waterproof inks. Drews Favorites, Brians favorites etc. For me it was a process of self discovery. I kind of have my inks i like but still try to expand. Some after i try a while i really love but never thought i would untill i trued. Now i force myself to use a sample till it is completely gone to form a solid opinion on it. Maybe a week or two. But i have maybe 6 inks i revert back to for a while. If i do connect with a sample i buy a bottle. Some i have seen you do in your 30 days make me go hmm will i like that its cool. So i get a sample. But there have been some you have done that just dont exist anymore too and sad i cant find. BTW i am assuming you do the Diamine advent this year but you seen Colorverse is doing one for the first time too. Hint hint. Kind of like to see you donthat too. Come on its xmas 🎄

Sample are to test inks for future bottle purchases and to try inks I’m curious about. I have a subscription to Ink Flight which helps me try inks I might not otherwise choose. Love Hope Pink - so pretty and vibrant! 💖. See you tomorrow!

Diamine redeems itself with an actual pink-pink! I use samples for both. I've only been into fountain pens a couple years and is nice to use samples as a way to try new brands or look at colors I am less sure of before I consider a full bottle. I have bought a couple of bottles without getting a sample first. It wasn't the worst decision I have ever made but reinforced the buy a sample first philosophy. 😂

Samples are also both for me. I like samples to test new-to-me inks, but I also get them in place of bottles (in most cases). I've purchased bottles and been surprised that I didn't like the bottle as much as the sample. Vanness and Goulet must wonder what I need four samples of one colour for, lol. The only bottles I purchase now are inks that I'm afraid I'll run out of and will take a long time to get. I DO occassionally by small bottles (such as Sailor, Colorverse, or Wearingeul) since they are about the same size as four or five samples anyway. Hope you're having a great day as well!
