Climbing Closed Mountain: Tofana di Dentro by Barraca degli Alpini Route
mountainsforeverybody.com/climbing-tofana-di-dentro-by-bivacco-barraca-degli-alpini-route
I climbed Tofana di Dentro recently solo by following the Formenton route that goes by the bivacco Barraca degli Alpini. The route was formally closed due to falling rocks. Here you have my detailed report about the climb.
There are two main normal routes to the summit of Tofana di Dentro. If you want to walk it all the way up, you will follow the route which is described here, and it starts at the Pie Tofana car parking at 1675 m (5495 ft). The other route is from the summit of Tofana di Mezzo, and you will have a long ferrata to pass the ridge between the two summits.

Taut Line Hitch for Tent's Awning

Some good tents allow for an awning configuration with the help of trekking poles. But you will also need a few stakes and guylines. For guylines, you can use a few pieces of an ordinary cord, and instead of standard tensioners that come with guylines, you can create taut line hitch. In this video you can see how this is done. The tent in the video is my Snow Peak Amenity Dome S, you can find m...

    Well done job, I did read your relation on your website since I was looking for information to climb up Tofana di dentro, when did you climb it? I'm planning to go next week and wandering if I have to bring crampons. Thanks

      It was on July 22nd and it was essential to have crampons on two places below the summit. I am pretty sure you will not need them any longer.

    I just bought this pad I’ve open the valve it’s been about 16 hours and it’s still only about 1 inch thick. I know it said the first time it takes a while but seems like it should be thicker after 16 hours. Did you find the first time you inflated this it took a very long time?

    • @mountainsforeverybody
      @mountainsforeverybody Před 4 dny

      Hi, I hope this is the same Plus version pad, because the full thickness is three inches. It make no sense, 16 hours and one inch only. They have the standard version which is 1.5 inch thick, so please check if this is the same pad as mine. But my experience is also not so great in this respect. Initially it would inflate to some point and it was not bad, I would then blow extra air with my mouth. But later, the self-inflation looked far reduced, and this means more air blowing, but this is still fine. I think this all is due to too-big cut-out channels. The foam would be more reactive if it would be more of it inside, but this would make the pad much heavier and bulkier. Not a bad trade-off all in all, I am quite happy with my pad.

    • @RandomVelocity
      @RandomVelocity Před 4 dny

      @@mountainsforeverybody yeah I thought it would self inflate faster even the first time based on the instructions. I got the regular rectangular, but it’s still supposed to be 3 inches stick. I ended up putting a little air in it with a pump this morning and finished it off super comfortable. I mean not too firm but just really really comfortable. I really like it thanks for the response and I subbed in liked

      Yes I know, but the point is that in relative terms the smaller pack's weight is far more increased. It makes sense to think about poncho instead of the usual pack rain cover, as this will protect the hip belt padding as well.

    • @mountainsforeverybody
      @mountainsforeverybody Před 9 dny

      Regarding the first question, this is a quite technical mountaineering and hiking backpack with an inner sleeve made for a water bladder. But it is large and deep and you can definitely place a laptop in it. As for the second question, this will depend on the rules of the flight company, and cannot say much about this.

      They sell separately a set with an inner mat and a footprint. If you follow the link to my review in the site you will see them both. This is not compulsory, I was recently in the mountains with this tent and used it as it is, the floor fabric is strong enough.

    • @jvranjes
      @jvranjes Před 9 dny

      @@victorbercian6707 The tent has a very durable floor, no worry about that. I do not use any mat inside, but indeed I am normally in the tent without shoes or sleepers and it can be cold from the ground in a camp in the mountains. Nothing from this brand is really affordable, all they sell is quite expensive but of a high quality.

      Hi, the backpack is just next to me in a camping tent, and I also have my helmet with me. I am in the Slovenian mountains, but have not used it yet on any tour with the helmet, it was raining a lot these days. But I am moving to the Dolomites tomorrow and I might test this. I already know that it is possible, if it is really practical is hard to say for the moment, but I shall check this and perhaps add some paragraphs in my post review in the site. Namely, there are two loops through which the straps for lid closure go from below, they have no other purpose, so here you should be able to attach a helmet. You can also use the wide bottom-front loop in combination with the two mentioned loops.

    Someone recommended this pack, as I have a 24/25-inch torso. I have owned Osprey Aethers, which can easily carry the 19 kg that I sometimes need to carry for my longer group hikes. You mentioned the thinner shoulder strap, it sounds like it would be uncomfortable to carry such a weight. Thank you for your genuine review and video.

      I did not use it with such a weight so cannot really say much. The hip belt is simply excellent for heavy weight, there is no doubt about this.

    Najveći problem sa Moabom sam imao na mokrom/vlažnom krečnjaku- klizaju kao po staklu. Za nijansu manje sa Salomon cipelama, i Lowa Renegade je tu negde. Problem sa Moabom je što kliza u silasku i po šljunku; sa vedrije strane, najudobnija cipela ikada. Pozdrav

      Hi, thank you for the comment. I shall reply in English so that others can understand. Yes you are right, I was unpleasantly surprised when I realized this (after 15 years or so of use). But I have never been with them on a rocky terrain in all those years. They are far inferior to all others that I have used or am using right now.

      Hi, I have just been testing this tent in rain, more than 6 hours of continuous rain and then intervals with rain after that, all the night. No water inside at all. There will be video here these days, you will be able to see it.
