As a member of the Mormon Church, I have to say that he has mischaracterized our faith as many Christian preachers do. He exagerates our more unique doctrines to make them sound radical, but he lacks the context. His main point is that because we believe we can become like God, we are polytheistic. Most people will hear that and dismiss the doctrine without actually thinking about what it means. Yes, we believe we can become like God. We believe that God has the power to make us into something greater than eternal harpists who sit on clouds and sing amazing grace. We believe that God has a glorious destiny for us, that we are "co-heirs" with Christ (Romans 8:17), and that the next life will be one of learning, growing and becoming more like our Heavenly Father. What else do you think we are going to do in Heaven? Don't you think God wants for us what you want for your own children? Are we mere creations, bound to sit in an eternal worship service? Or are we children of God, with a destiny to become gods? Did not the psalmist say "ye are gods, and all of you are children of the most high"? Aren't we better than the animals in God's eyes? Don't you feel within yourself you were meant to accomplish something wonderful and glorious. We will never be independent of God's grace, even when we obtain godhood, but we also believe that God's Grace is limitless. The logical conclusion is that once in God's grasp, we have no limits. He meant what he said, He will one day make us perfect, as He and is Only Begotten Son are.

In the end, it boils down to the claim the LDS church has, that God still reveals His word through prophets - a pattern God followed throughout the Old and New Testament. Why would God stop now? How can we as mere mortals claim that He is done speaking? The same claims are in essence made by the Jews. Their canon is closed. Then the Catholics came along added the New Testament and made the same claim. How can we possibly demand that God has no more to say to us? I'll leave it at that for now ... I'm going to be VERY slow to judge a religion that has historically done only good works and has good fruit in our communities. John should not be so quick to judge anyone to hell. John doesn't go into any detail about their view of who Jesus Christ is to them.

Dr. John MacArthur does not understand what Mormon's actually believe. But if he believes the Bible is the word of God, why doesn't he believe the Bible? It clearly states: Amos 3:7 "Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets." Where are his prophets today? Dr. John MacArthur does not claim to know of any. However, the Bible does reveal: Matthew 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Show me where the "fruits" of the restored Church of Jesus Christ is evil? Are "Mormons" evil, or do they live the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Pure Relgion? The Bible reveals: James 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain. 27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

For someone who is supposedly Christian, he sure doesn't act Christlike...whether it's Joel Osteen, Hank Hanagram, Mormons, etc, he just cannot accept any other belief within Christianity that doesn't align to his own dogma.
