I'll never forget my first ever playthrough of EarthBound and getting to Ness' Nightmare, because only one of us knew Rockin Omega. It was cool enough that another enemy was using my own signature move against me, but it put the fear of Giygas in me reading the Omega symbol, followed by what sounded like a whole carpet bombing.

I know it'd be too much work to re-edit all these videos but I really wish you didn't use that weird blurry resampling on the enemy sprites since it looks horrendous. I know that's just a result of trying to enlarge tiny sprites in your video editing software and it automatically applies a general purpose resampler when you do that, but you can bypass that problem by just enlarging them in Photoshop (or other image editing programs) but with Nearest Neighbor (hard edges) resampling turned on, which will keep the sprites nice and blocky even at large resolutions.

I have never once found the sword of kings, I should really try to make it happen!

For me Franky always stands out as the hardest battle in Onett. BTW, Love this series. My sister and I used to rent this game all the time back in the day. We had the strategy guide with the scratch and sniff stickers, and loved the game's humor. Since I was the older sibling, I would do all the grinding between times we played so she could fight the bosses and feel like a badass. I really hope one day all three games in the Mother series get a remaster.

That’s one of the best theories I’ve seen about Porky! Would it make sense to say that Porky settled in the nowhere islands to use the dragon’s power to reset the timeline and be a normal kid again? He seems tired and defeated by that time, maybe it’s why he stayed in the mother 3 dimension and didn’t hop around during the events of the game

Maybe the bosses of mother 3? Just so we get more bosses? Take the time to write the scripts for each and than upload weekly once they are done and fully complete and you have a bit of a backlog?

I wish the mid-late game was harder. The final fight is a joke if you already know you have to pray, which everyone does.

i always saw him as the shit gets real boss as if Giygas is less passively trying to stop you to outright targeting Ness and his friends, with the added stakes being raised with Paulas kidnapping gives off a level of panic and desperation. very memorable part of the game

I don’t know why this never came to me before but I just noticed the similarities between Buzz Buzz and the story of Trunks in DBZ. Very interesting since the Trunks story dropped in 1991 before this game dropped.

I remember the first time I got to the end game. I was woefully unprepared. I rushed it and didn’t have the right inventory. Had a grueling grind that was a terrible terrible slog to get to Giygas. I don’t care to share how many times I got TPKed right before getting to Giygas

Also, since you mentioned the Casey Bat and Magicant, I remember how back in 2018 when I played this game for the first time, I struggled really bad in Magicant because of the Casey Bat and I didn't even know it.

Funny thing, when I played this for the 3rd time 2 months ago, I somehow had a harder time with sanctuary boss #7 than both phases of sanctuary boss #8.

I swear this series doesn't get enough love. I'm surprised (but also not) Nintendo hasn't looked at Earthbound virtual console numbers and simply remake the game with a few minor tweaks like the ability to run and a few low effort improvements like giving items sprites, making items easier to use and equip, and bringing the battle memory from mother 3 over to earthbound. They could probably produce a full remake with marketing for less than a million dollars and turn that into a 10 million dollar profit worldwide. They re-released every Super mario game a thousand times, they re-release every generation of pokemon, they've remade several fire emblem games and brought them to America, why not an earthbound remake or at the very least, bring mother 3 to America, considering it's already translated for free by fans?

I've grinded the Sword took me a few hours, I would reload my save every so often because I didn't wanna be power levelled.

The first time I got the sword, I grinded and it took at least 80 battles. The second time, I wasn't trying and got it after 3 battles

When I first played this, I tried to get the sword for about 30 minutes. I got fustrated and said "Ef this!"...then I got on with my life and I don't look back 😂

Consider me Team New In Town, I wonder how I never figured it out that each Sanctuary Boss are mutated or evolved versions of enemies.

I've never been able to get the sword on vc or nso. Not that any of the 1/128 items are worth the trouble.

I got the Sword of Kings once, only once, after grinding for a very long time. I think I left the area with everyone at levels 70 - 77. One strategy I used to save on HP was to have Poo turn into one of those refuelling robots whenever I managed to come across one, and just wait it out until he healed my entire party eventually. Sort of made the grinding process more bearable.

Never got the sword, didn't even know it was a thing in my first play though, tried on a 2nd go, still didn't get it even years later, and this is making me want to try again to grab it

When Nintendo added Earthbound to the online service, I did another playthrough of it. I was about level 65 when I got to Stonehenge base to try and get the sword of kings. I left the base at level 99 and didn't get the sword :(
