"Two notes competing with each other" is spot on. In the physics of sound, they are somewhat out of phase and so you get that warbly, slightly out of tune effect.

Dereks slide completely changed the whole sound of the ABs...mismatched to the music...no slide fkn great..imo

Do you use a 11 gauge pack of strings or a 10 gauge pack with a 11 and 14 string? (like trucks does) I was thinking of doing that to see how it goes

Good concept video, nothing worse that listening to someone throwing licks together and calling blues. Many say that slide should imitate the human voice - I've read that Duane Allman stated on different occasions that slide was all about imitating harmonica players.....
