I totally understand Jojos art being a turn off. The way it looks is why it took me so long to watch it, but it grew on me sooo much. I went from hating everything visually, to it being one of my favorite shows ever when it comes to art.

The show is insanely cute and fun. A Slime technically doesn’t have a gender but it used to be a he before he died and was Reincarnated so me mostly still refer to him as him though he really is an it now being genderless. This show immediately became my favorite anime when I started watching it because the characters are lovable and I really enjoy a fun isekai story. It is definitely not boring while he’s a Slime. They do an awesome job of anthropomorphising him when he’s just a blue blob.

I remember being so thrown by the title but a friend recommended it and I binged the everything that was out in a week and now i'm hooked. The storyline, the character development, the animation is all so good.

Slime is a interesting show and among my favorites (through I do prefer the Novel and the Manga over the Anime in most instances) It has this unique mix of serious even dark topics while being full of light wholesome fun ... it also is basically your typical OP MC Isekai while the world and character are constructed in such a consistent way that even when they pull off ridiculous stuff it never feels outside of the set up rules ...

Longer titles like this usually mean the source material is a light novel rather than a manga, and you really can't dismiss the weird titles.... My absolute favorite anime for the past couple years is Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunnygirl-Senpai and the title has almost nothing to do with the show itself, aside from a single scene in the first episode. Another of my favorite stories, I say stories because the anime is a little disappointing and rushed but the light novel is incredible... Is Ascendance of a Bookworm: I'll Do Anything to Become a Librarian. You really can't dismiss things just because of a long or strange title lol

It wears the mask when it goes into human cities, because the world it was reincarnated into has something they call Majin, which are humans that have forsaken their humanity in favor of becoming like a monster in pursuit of power, and if Rimuru tried to enter a human city in its human form, the power that leaks from it unconsciously just from how powerful it is would make it a target because the people would view it as a Majin. In other words, the mask is a necessary part of Rimuru's human disguise when it means to be among actual humans.

Rimuru is a slime, but it has an ability that no other slime has. So, all slimes eat by engulfing their prey with their body and digesting them, but Rimuru is able to mimic both the form and inherent abilities of any species its eaten. Also, each type of creature has multiple forms in a sort-of heirarchy of power, and as Rimuru increases its power, any species mimicries it has upgrade to higher forms if its power in its base slime form exceeds the threshold for the mimicked species' evolution.
