Why do doctors still use pagers?
In various countries around the world including more developed countries its fairly common to see doctors and other medical staff in hospitals using pager. But with the rest of the world largely moving on from pagers in the 1990’s, why do hospital staff still use them and not just a regular cell phone? That’s what we’re going to have a look at in this video.
Please do subscribe if you haven’t already, it really helps this small channel grow!
One of the main reasons for staff to still use pagers in hospitals is they use a different frequency band than cell phones. Pagers use a much lower frequency band than phones do. Lower frequency signals are able to penetrate walls, floors and other obstructions more efficiently than higher frequency bands. This is especially useful in a hospital with many rooms, corridors and walls that higher frequency signals may struggle to penetrate. Some hospitals have sections underground and x ray rooms are often lined with lead for the protection of other staff and patients who spend extended periods of time nearby. It would be almost impossible for higher frequency signals used by cell phone to reach these underground or lead lined rooms whereas low frequency signals used by pagers can reach these areas with no issue. If a doctor in an xray room or underground area needed to be contacted for an emergency elsewhere in the hospital they would likely not be reachable if they were relying on a mobile phone, but with a pager they’d receive the message no problem.
A 2nd reason is battery life. Pagers are designed for low-power operation and typically only receive signals (rather than transmitting data like smartphones), they can function for extended periods on a single battery charge often up to 30 days. This long battery life ensures that doctors and medical staff can rely on their pagers without frequent recharging.
A final reason for still using pagers over cell phones is the range at which they can receive signals. Pager transmitters can operate at higher power levels providing extensive coverage from a single transmitter. This high power, combined with lower frequency bands, allows for wider coverage areas. A single high-power transmitter can cover up to 30 miles in ideal conditions. This means a hospital will only need one transmitter to cover a very large site.
Cellular networks on the other hand rely on a dense network of base stations (cell towers) to provide coverage. Each cell tower covers a relatively small area, especially in urban environments, where cells can be as small as a few hundred meters in radius. This means a hospital may need to build several cell towers on particularly large and built up sites if they wanted to rely on cell phones, adding a huge cost.
What do you think will eventually replace pagers in hospitals? Let me know down in the comments and please do subscribe if you’ve enjoyed this video and thanks for watching!

Im using victus 16(144hz) to connect aoc24g4(1080p,180hz), and my nvidia control panel just allow me to use type-a and hdmi to connect, should i use hdmi2.1 to connect or use typec to dp cable? Which one is more high perfomance?
What specific device do these thieves use to steal cars? genuinely curious since if it were something cheap like a flipper zero the world is over.
i wold kill for that shell for mt phat ps3
HDMI handles transportation of sound better. And has greater depth in colours. So for movies, still-pictures handling eg. photoshop and such like I prefer HDMI.
SSDs lost data after 1 year if off.
I used to wear a watch that received email and SMS Text messages over the pager network. These watches are no longer made. Advantages: I did not have to carry a cell phone, battery life was around a month, I received messages where cell phone coverage was spotty, and I could still receive messages in areas where cell phones must be turned off. (i.e. airplane mode).
interesting! i never really thought about the wall penetration issue! however, if im a doctor in need of assistance, will my page not transmit the message? is messages only broadcast from a central transmitter?
Some pagers can transmit messages, but in most cases the messages are sent from a central transmitter. Thanks for watching!
What do you think will eventually replace pagers in hospitals?
i have a monitor whit 1.4 dp port and a rtx 4080 whit 2.1 wil this work to 144hz ? do i need a 2.1 cable or a 1.4 ?
The HDMI 2.0 Can run at 1080p 240hz, 1440p 144hz 4k 60hz , but the HDMI 1.4 version run 1080p 120hz not the 2.0 version
I remember my school did a giveaway. If I remember correctly one of the wins was. A curved controller. We literally had a unreleased piece of tech as a winning prize
Yes, I still have a 2016 60" LG 4k 3D TV. 3D blu-rays are still produced, at least outside of the U.S., and some 4k blu-ray players still include 3D. I also have a 3D projector that shows 3D on a big screen, which can be impressive. It's a fun effect if well done. Amazon used to sell 3D TVs (mostly used), but not so much anymore. Too bad they probably won't come back.
I can do dual uhd at 120 hs with hdmi 2.1 from a laptop using usbc style thunderbolt 4. I have the new 57 inch samsung monitor. 240 hz 7680x2160. Yeah it does take display port 2.1 for that.
I didn't even know this existed.

it's good
What I dont get is that I have the new 1440p 360hz oled from alienware but it only has DP 1.4 🤔 I have a 2.1 cable connected to it though and Im just hoping it's working 🤷♂️ It feels smooth but Im starting to wonder if it could be smoother.

How does DVI COMPARE?
I've always like DisplayPort more than HDMI, especially as it has a Locking Clips
meanwhile me still using DVI because HDMI won't work for some reason 😶
I'm scared, I looked up something on google and clicked on one of the first links I saw. Once I clicked the link it took me to the website and asked me to confirm that I wasn't a robot, I clicked confirm and this red bar popped up that said "downloading Trojan virus". I exited the website before the bar fully loaded and reset both my settings and my computer. Is there a possibility that the virus was still able to download to my computer, and if so how can I remove it?
I ran a full scan of my pc and found a trojan, multiple browser hijackers, and cookie snatchers

@@Marshalbrake562what did you scan it witj
@@Marshalbrake562I found very similar results. My advice (and this worked perfectly for me) would be to terminate all malicious processes, use a special uninstalling application to remove them, then run a last check scan with a high tech software like spyhunter 5

My monitor is 1920x1080 and 180hz, will i see difference if i use DisplayPort, or HDMI is enough?
look at those server "racks"..
HI quick question i'm looking to buy a usb c to hdmi adapter. and I found one that is right for me but it says it is a 2.1 adapter. will it work still with a hdmi 2.0 cable that will plug into my hdmi 2.0 monitor or no?
The 3rd Difference literally destroyed apple and lightning cable in seconds😂
I also think it’s cool that, at almost any given point throughout their history, DP has always been a higher bandwidth connection. The first 144Hz monitor I ever bought required me to use either DisplayPort or DVI-D to even get over 60hz because 1080p60 was the highest that HDMI supported at that time. Now I have a 4k144Hz HDR monitor and it literally would not be able to work at its maximum quality even with the newest HDMI standard
Thank you! I enabled XMP, but didn't put a CMOS battery in the motherboard. Does this mean my RAM is running at default (2133Mhz) speed and will continue to do so until I put a CMOS battery and enable XMP again?

@@techindex1 sorry, replied to wrong thread! Apologies!
Thank you, I always wanted to know how this works. I didn’t know you could convert letters to binary numbers that sparked a whole new inspiration for me to create a code in the story I’m writing . Thank you ❤
You’re welcome! I’m glad it inspired you!
Its not broke let it alone. I labled a HDD partition as A and used a floppy disk Icon for it, so it looks like i have a floppy drive as A
I agree!
And why is the save icon still a floppy disc?
This is another case of “it’s always been like that so changing it would cause confusion” as far as I’m aware
Just a question, if you partition a hard drive why couldn't you assign it as A or B instead of some letter after D?
You can do this 😊 but the primary drive will always be C by default
Never even knew the other red rings existed apart from the 3 obviously 😅
I never had the others on my 360 either, only saw the 3 RROD
Using C: for boot HD isn't a big deal. Also, many computers from the pre-HD era had just one floppy. You'd put in your boot disk and take it out when boot was done. MS DOS was small enough to completely reside in the memory once loaded. Even two floppy drives was a luxury.
Yes it does seem one floppy drive was standard in a lot of cases 😊
I remember the ribbon cables was twisted so it would be A drive at the end of the cable, and B drive in the middle. Honestly it does not matter what letters are used, but it is nice to have C: for the OS disk on every computer.
