Paul Newman gave me a Budweiser at this event. (He was a favorite of mine, so I was pretty stoked!) Every famous American actor seemed to be there, from John Wayne to John Ritter. (John R was on the sitcom Three's Company -- he was loose and really funny.) What was I doing there?? Parking the cars of the stars! (...while in college.)

So deserved! A master billiant film maker. An Artisr! In a total league of his own. The likes of which we will never see again. A DaVinci, A Michelangelo, A Rembrandt of film.

I'm so glad that at the last minute they managed to trek out a sickly John "Duke" Wayne before his untimely death on June 11, 1979. I remember that day well. When awards shows were worth wathing.

A pity that John Wayne had died the Summer before on June 11, 1979, so he couldn't honor his friend and colleague, especially in Duke's last film, "The Shootist" that they shared together. They don't make them like these folks anymore. Henry Fonda was not long for this world with his passing with his last film, "On Golden Pond" in 1981 and his passing on August 12, 1982. So many of these wonderful folks are now gone to the Eternal. And I miss them all and am grateful for the talent they left behind. More than a few of these folks passed within a few years of this presentation.

Handsome and ultimate dancer. I feel like he made Xanadu work because of his natural experience in dance. Amazing man.

At the Height of his career, the great Jimmy Stewart risked it all and enlisted in the Air Force during WWII, flying bomber missions over Germany at great risk. NO actor would ever think of doing that today. He retired from the military a Brigadier General and continued making great movies when he came back to the US. That's why he always gets standing ovation wherever he went.

First there was Bette Davis, then everyone else followed. The Greatest actress who ever lived.
