Here is part 2 of my recreation in HO scale of the train from the 1957 television series called Casey Jones. The locomotive is a heavily modified Tyco Mantua model. Lost in Space - Jupiter 2 and Space Pod - My Model's SPFX

I modified my Moebius models 18 inch diameter Jupiter 2 kit by adding mechanical fusion core lighting and scanner spinners, as well as working landing legs. The space Pod was modified as well with fusion core lighting and working scanner. For both models I also added custom figures. All scenes in this video were done using my iPhone on a small set in my garage.

I scratchbuilt the Fuel Barge and 1 foot Jupiter 2 and using rods and wires attempt to simulate how the Special Effects artists on Lost in Space did it with their miniatures using same techniques.

A sequence of clips of take off sequences using my Scratchbuilt 1 foot Jupiter 2 and Fuel Barge as well as Moebius models Jupiter 2 and Space Pod. I built home made sets in my garage and backdrops. I added mechanically operated landing legs to Jupiter 2. All fusion core lighting is custom made by me. I used my iphone to capture these shots.

A video I made of my Moebius models Jupiter 2 kit with added remote controlled landing legs, fusion light spinner which is speed adjustable and is able to display seven different light sequences, motorized scanner and various other details. This video was made in my garage on a small stage set I built with all miniature work only and no computer graphic imaging.

Not a show I'm that familiar with. Unlike mid 60's shows or later this one was before my time and it was never in syndication like other shows such as Gilligan's island, McHales Navy, Hogan's Heroes, etc..

Great footage
I was surprised to learn that there is a part of the smoke box at the front end of the boiler, that is called a "petticoat". It is a venturi that directs exhaust steam from the cylinders to the smokestack. This venturi creates the draft that stokes the fire in the firebox.

Quite a remarkable fictional locomotive, considering that it was, according to the story line, running every day, and had no access to a workshop for overhauls
That saucer could never have contained the pod, the chariot, the jet pack,the hydroponic growing system etc,etc. it was hardly large enough for the people. And they were sent into the unknown with no armament for the ship just evasive action. Irwin Allan did voyage to the bottom of the sea. The Seaview at least looked large enough for the flying sub.

Awesome job man. I love these LIS ships. I was pissed at the recent remake movie when they had what was a reasonable facsimile of the OG ship break apart to reveal the odd shaped splotch that was the new ship, awful. Not a great movie but could have at least left the ship intact, certainly would have increased my enjoyment (or tolerance) of it.

How come in some shots, the cars are coupled in the other direction, but the locomotive isn’t
There was and still is a locomotive turntable at the Jamestown depot. Number 3 was turned to run in a different direction using it.
There’s no other sound quite like the Jupiter 2’s atomic engines during take off and landing. Best spacecraft engine sounds ever.

It's truly uncanny how much it resembles the actual locomotive! Astonishing! By the way, could you per chance know what type of Mashima motor you used? I'm thinking about trying this project out for myself, and I'm not very good at electrical identification. 😅 Truly great work!
I can’t remember now as did this modification some years back and dismantling the loco to measure it risks damage now. If you have the Tyco model just measure the cavity directly in front of the engineer’s cabin where the motor would be fitted and go from there. Good luck.
