Hi, will this fit a 2017 ktm 250 exc?
How can you tell if you have a type 1 or 2 cylinder?
where can i get the threaded inserts?
They are widely available online. Not sure about your preferred shop/location. Try googling "threaded bar end inserts"
I saw a cool dog lurking in the background so of course I clicked thumbs up instantly!
Wow 40 though squish seams tight for pump gas
I am from România, subscribed for a while
Are you living in Japan? Im here to, hopefully we could ride together sometime
Yes, I live in Tokyo. Please send me a message here and we can organize a ride: tokyooffroad.com/contact/
Can you use erm to set idle speed?
Yes, you can use ERM to monitor the engine RPM while adjusting the idle with the throttle body idle adjuster
anybody have any luck tracking down a particle accelerator? CERN won’t let me have theirs :(((
LOL
What torque wrench do you use for 8nm?
All the torque wrenches I use are Tohnichi QL-MH series (all metal construction). For 8Nm I use either the QL10N-MH (2~10Nm), or QL25N-MH (5~25Nm) QL10N-MH: www.tohnichi.com/product/ql10n-mh/ QL25N-MH: www.tohnichi.com/product/ql25n-mh/
@@TokyoOffroad Thank you!
One more question if I may?🙂 with the delete done,Did you notice any difference in the amount of unburned oil at the silencer? (Sppoge)
Yes, I get some spooge with the oil injection deleted and using premix (60:1 High octane pump gasoline and Motorex Crosspower 2T). I made a video which shows how much: czcams.com/video/ea7KRkiSqlI/video.html
Good Job
Does the compression fork bleed the same as the rebound? Or is there a different resistance between the two?
The bleed technique is the same for both sides. However, they will feel different even when fully bled.
Thank you for the video, is very helpful.
Pleased to hear that you found it useful.

Hello from Russia 🤙
Hi there! Hope you enjoyed the video.

Pleased to hear that you found the video useful and that your bike is running well again 🙂
Came here after a Friend crashed my bike into a pole🥲
Hope he's OK!
Hi Mark I just wanted to thank you for making this video! It was a great reference for me while doing this job. I used the exact tools and methods which all worked perfectly. I really appreciate the specialty tools you make for KTM maintenance. The seal driver made it easy to get the seal in perfectly. Have you ever done a ignition side crank seal with the engine still installed in the bike? I would like to do that side as well but haven't found a seal puller I would be comfortable with that would get the seal out without harming the crank surface. Just wondering if there is a puller designed for this situation.
Pleased to hear that you found the video useful. I've only replaced the ignition side seal while overhaul the bottom, with the cases split and crankshaft out. In the future, if I do replace it while assembled I'll be sure to make a video...

Dude I think the snap ring pkyers are pronounced (nip-X) not (kah-nype-ex)😂 Boy that KT n motorcycle, you're working on.Those sure are beautiful bikes. They're really aren't any made any better. So basically nice frigging bike man
Originally I pronounced it nipex . Then a German friend of mine told me it's pronounced k-nipex. But it appears that the pronunciation used by company employees in Germany is k-neepex: czcams.com/video/0ElThr0GNd4/video.htmlsi=ZojKd_k9YSOYWHsG Not very intuitive! LOL
Has anyone used it on a 2024 excf 4 stroke?
Hey for the engine level indicator on the dash- is that what will throw a code if you unplug it? I saw at the end of your video you unplugged it and taped it up- mine is plugged in but just constantly flashing- can I unplug it and still ride it?
If you unplug the oil level indicator dash LED and start the engine the ECU will throw a engine blink code. Yes, I taped over the lens of the oil level indicator LED and secured it away out of sight so it's not I annoying.
Thank you. Does the engine blink code make it so you can’t ride until you reset it? Was wanting to do the same thing with the cable you did and tuck it out if the way so it doesn’t blink constantly at me.
@@johnh5088 the bike can still be ridden with the engine blink code. To reset the engine blink code you’ll need to take it to your dealer, unless you have a tool (Eg TSP ERM)
@@TokyoOffroad Ty!! Bout to snag an erm so works perfectly.
Nice work! Man, they had just about every type of terrain to play on lol. There were a few times in the video where it sounded like your bike was just on the verge of too lean. Maybe I heard it wrong but thought I'd mention it anyway.
Thanks. I'm pleased with how the bike is running with the TSP map. One thing to note is that I did update the map recently to a slightly richer baseline map (TSP Map version 3BE-24-J). The green map, which I use most of the time, is a higher power and leaner tune. The white map is richer and I use it when conditions are slick, or difficult to get traction. I don't get any over lean indicators when using the the green map. The beauty of having the TSP ERM tool is you can fine tune the fueling, ignition and PV to your liking if you you're not happy with the provided base map. Several different versions of the base maps are also available which differ in fueling.
@@TokyoOffroad Nice to have options, that's for sure! I wasn't 100% positive on the lean condition, just swear I head a slight hanging idle a few times is all.
这是比赛不是郊游,在好的路段不抢时间在干嘛?
Thank you so much for the trick. I spent countless hours and money buying all sort of tools but this is method works right out of the box. Do you recommend doing the same for the other caliper and the bleeder valve at the master cylinder or just one caliper is enough? What do you think about pumping fluid in the farthest caliper and open the other caliper to push out all the air?
Make a special mixture of premix oil. It consists of 50% Motorex and 50% diesel fuel. Then use that mixture to make the usual 50 or 60 to 1 premix ratio. You get the combined oil + diesel mixture lubricating the bottom end then during combustion, the diesel burns off and the motorex is left to lube the exhaust valve. So you have a premix ratio of 120:1 lubing your exhaust valve and a lot less spooge on your muffler.
let us know how many hours you get out of a top end
@@twostroker56 126 hours on the piston but it doesnt need replacing. Rings have 1mm of end gap so needs new rings. 343 hours on the crank.
Did you say 15 or 50nm?
15Nm for the axle pinch bolts
the oil injection is now like... more reliable than the rest of the engine lol
For me, with oil injection deleted, it's one less thing to worry about and I prefer the simplicity of running premix. But I know some people don't like mixing gas. Good to have choices...
T.O will the kickstarter not work without the capacitor? I have the kickstarter installed and the engine turns over but will not start. I order the capicitor/battery kit from your website
For TPI bikes, if the battery is completely dead, my testing showed that kick starting will only be reliable if a BLS Capacitor and 9V PreCharge used. For hill/bump starting with a dead battery only the BLS Capacitor is required for the engine to start and run.
On the linkage 65mm is the magic number. The binding on the rear and disrupting your suspension is huge.
What if i crash the opposite way and fix it that way😂
I didnt think this would be legal in Japan. I know Japanese motorcycle manufacturers make dual sports and ADV bikes but rules are so strict there i thought no one could actually ride them off road.
Any rental Enduro bikes in japan? Please gimi the information
Is this procedure roughly the same for a 22 Husqvarna TC125? Thank you for the great video. Will your seal driving tool work for the above mentioned bike?
Amazing
Awesome video and great riding! Enjoyed watching that.
Damn nice Ride Mark! I could just feel the heat and humidity just watching. lol
Yes, the humidity was very high. Was nice to cruise along and get a breeze during the section transit areas.
I love your clear and detailed explanations. You're a very good teacher
Thanks and pleased that you enjoy the videos
That back tire was just plain hook'in up! Is it the 540DC?
Yes, Shinko 540DC 120/100-18 with Tubliss at about 2psi. Traction was very good
@@TokyoOffroad I thought so 👍. Wish we could get those in the states, I would love to see how it does here in the PNW.
@@marcusm.3486 I think it would do well in the PNW terrain. Not sure why it's not imported in to the US
😎👍
High octane fuel?
Yes, high octane pump gasoline and Motorex Crosspower 2T at 60:1
@@TokyoOffroad oh, well thats what the manual calls for isnt it? Spooge accumulation is just the result of how you ride unless bike is running wrong which it probably isnt ... kind of silly to compare it between different riders and terrain. I can go on a 50 mile ride and have none, or ride 10 miles and have some - that will be true for any two stroke that runs correctly.
@@constantink3721 - The two stroke oil and ratio can have quite a dramatic effect on spooge. With my bikes I’ve had good success (minimal cylinder and ring wear) running Motorex Crosspower 2T at 60:1, with minimal spooge. Note that I never tune by spooge, always by ride feel. Spooge is what it is after that and as you mentioned will vary depending on the type of riding and engine temp and rpm.
@@TokyoOffroad the right mix again depends on your riding style, conditions and sometimes even how old the bike is so... the stock map goes from 50:1 to 100:1, tsp tune injects a little more. xc manual calls for 60:1 so you are just running stock KTM(and most other manufacturers) mix per manual - which is what most 2 strokes want under normal conditions. wasn't sure about the point of this but hey thanks for the video
This is surtainly not the best way .
The goal of this method was to be quick, easy and effective, without needing to disassemble anything. It works well in my experience. Is it the best method? It you have more time and don't mind taking off the front wheel, removing the fork tubes, loosening the triple clamps and aligning them, then reassembling everything you could say it's better, but the results will be similar and it'll take a lot longer.
Why are you calling a flywheel a rotor?
Believe it or not, rotor is another name for flywheel. KTM call it the "rotor" in the repair manual and parts list.
Dude just put the damn gear shafts in already!!!Jesus man
The video series was intended to help guide people who are doing this for the first time. As such I talk through critical assembly steps and point out things to be careful of. Sorry you didn't find the video useful.
Awesome video thanks. Could you possibly do a long term bike review and include all your modificstion. Thanks again. 👍👍💪💪
