I fish a lot... and I'm having a blast making movies about fly fishing. I have a background in art and design and I'm excited about the opportunity to work in this medium. I'm putting lots of miles on my poor silver Dodge pickup but the early mornings and long drives certainly pay off. I'm not certain whether to call it a passion, addiction, or obsession... whatever it is, I'm all in!

High Mountain Cutthroat Adventure

A high-mountain Utah stream with some beautiful cutts. Drove in on my 4-wheeler but my plan changed when the lower access had a "No OHV" sign... live and learn and roll with the punches!

Great looking fly.
Your daughter is a great fisherman. Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree I guess!
Nicely done! Great pattern.
One of the best tutorials on this topic 👍
Beautiful cutt on a dry in the winter.
Finally another post... If I didn't spend $$ on a ski pass, I'd be on the river every weekend. I told myself March 1st is when I'd get back out, but after this post I very well could be fishing tomorrow
Pretty neat to see what you were up to today. We had a nice day here in Alberta too. Great way to fish vicariously through you. Thx!
You're back! They pay the ransom...or did you escape? haha. Good to see you out fishing again. Looked like a beautiful day.
Don’t know why I thought you had changed locations, went back and checked previous videos back up to speed with you now. Been a couple of years since I’ve delivered out there and had layover time to fish. Enjoy good luck
What part of the country are you in ? Utah
You got it
Thank you for your post. Surprised the hex screw holes did not become worn & disfigured from contact and abrasion w rocks to prevent solid connection with hex wrench. Was that a problem, in ANY way? ThankYou
Nope, these were my absolute favorite boots of all time. It's too bad that Patagonia stopped making them. You can get the new version of the Foot Tractor but it's a Patagonia/Danner boot that's about 400 bills.
@@CJFishNutz TY for taking time to reply
Love the vid… but dude… ya gotta fix whatever that high pitched noise is in the background!! 😝
Thanks Matt... I'll see what I can do
Hello everybody, another building of mice by a French CZcamsr. czcams.com/video/jrrhYxccyLM/video.html
Cool .I think I can attempt to make one . Have you ever caught trout with them ? I saw a video once where they did up north in Canada .
I have. These are very interesting to try at night with a bright moon.
Very nice tying, I would to see the tail trimmed roundish
Just curious since you soloed. Did you have a shuttle aranged or did you hitch hike back? I've never floated the green. Have Pontoon will travel! LOL!!!
I did arrange a shuttle. I've always used Trout Creek Flies shop but the last time I floated the Green, just about three weeks ago, they actually told me that they didn't have any drivers and to go somewhere else. VERY strange for that outfit! I went next door and easily booked a shuttle. I'll still recommend Trout Creek Flies because the original owner, Denny Breer, deserves is (RIP). He would have been thoroughly pissed with an employee telling me to go try another store!
Hey CJ, can I get your email? Going camping this weekend and have questions about a couple spots this time of year...
Such beautiful country up there. Gorgeous valleys. Water level looks low..is that from drought or simply a small creek? Saw all the flooding yesterday..you get hit by that also?
Just about all of Utah is in a pretty serious drought right now but this valley and the upper elevations here haven't suffered like the rest of the state. We've had some pretty intense rain for the last few days... looks like we'll see some sun for a few days now. No flooding where I'm at thank goodness but we've had some pretty serious damage in the state.
That's a great stretch, the whole length of it. I last came in from the top in my Outback and it did awesome.
Nice... I'll bet it's a pretty sketchy road in the Suby. I've taken a couple different trucks in there. Won't do that again, much rather ride the wheeler in!
@@CJFishNutz it's surprisingly capable though a side by side would be great
Lot of hassle but some nice cutts away from people.
Nice video - Area loaded with beaver dams.
@@CJFishNutz Very true - Big fish in those ponds. Just be careful in those ponds as you can sink deep into the mud and hurt a knee.
I've never fished that high up. Thanks for putting up another quality video.
Especially with our recent storms, everything up there is so green. In this part of the state you wouldn’t guess that we’re in a drought year.
Did we just see the first views of CJ in front of the camera?
Go street legal and bypass the sign!
Nothing better than a cutthroat on a dry, on a high mountain stream. Welcome back!
Agreed. There’s something about that combo that’s just ‘right’.
Nice cuties for such high mountain streams.
Hey Patrick... thanks for tuning in!
when you said "Oh! I am so alone here. It's awesome." That's one of the best feelings I have when fly fishing.
Oh... ain't it the truth. I can't explain it but those of us who get it... don't need to.
Stunning in every way. One of your best films ever! I hope you were “packing” being that far back in by yourself. There’s no need to say why you should be packing. Either people know or they don’t know what’s apt to turn up deep in the Uintah’s. Be safe and thanks for allowing us to tag along. The scenery was breathtaking.
Really cool thanks
Awesome Video, been following you for a while and its always cool to see the places ya go, Will have to go check that out with the family !
This is a great, easy trail. Checking out my OnX tracker, looks like I walked in 4.3 miles before being able to get in the water... no wonder my feet were sore the next day! Spectacular country and fast fishing for those brookies!
That is my kind of exploring. Love looking for trout in beautiful places! Great video!
Glad you enjoyed
I'll take a dozen crickets. Great video, need to get up there.
Just simple foam bodies but they certainly did the trick. I don't think these fish are very picky!
Beautiful scenery, lots of got memories fishing through there. Thanks for sharing
About time you posted again. Great video.
Beautiful location, nice filming as well.Did the snake leave you Any dinner?
awesome video, love your stuff, what brand of wading pants you rocking there and what are your thoughts on them ?? Looking into getting some.
Those are some tight quarters Chris!
Awesome Chris!!!
Everyone is using BWO right now for sure.
Man it was “lights out” that day! Great fly you tied. Always so much fun to catch on something you create. Thanks for sharing a great watch for a Monday morning.
Startin' to worry about you..hadn't seen a post in a couple of months. Figured you for a guy that begins to shake if 4 days go by with no fishing. Anyway..good to see another great day on the river. Thanks...
Nice slo-mo on the take. The wind sounds brutal. Any idea how many fish per mile on that river? You talk to the fish about the same way I do. Appreciate the pic and recipe for the flies as well. Great job, and as always, thanks for taking us along. Best to you and yours.
There was a study that I read years ago that put the fish-per-mile mark at one of the most in the country... along with fisherman "rod-hours per day". Its a pretty incredible thing when you get in the zone... you know what I'm talking about. The only problem is that time passes way too quickly.
Really enjoy the experiences you share in your videos, thanks for keeping them coming. Those Browns are gorgeous. Warmer water must be helping to revive their colors. I've been all over the middle, don't recognize this really wide section. I'll find it LOL. Love that click-pawl, so nostalgic, and they're a joy to fish, and the sound of yours is magical.
Howdy Curt, thanks much for watching and chiming in! You will find that section, it's a couple of great wide bends and it's actually pretty popular... I happened to hit it on a Tuesday!
Looks like a good time! Curious what size fly rod you are using.
Looked to be carrying a small dog by the leash. 🤣🤣 That was a crazy sight to see. You slayed them man, I dig the look of that cripple.
Glad to see a new video out.epic fishing day ,nice job
Awesome vid; I've never had as much luck on the middle compared to the lower, but this makes me wanna go try it again
Hi there Oliver! I've caught larger fish in the canyon but it's hard to beat a hundred 13 to 16 inches rising all around you for three solid hours! The middle is worth looking at if you can get out on a weekday.
@@CJFishNutz I'll have to try it! Haha weekdays are the only times I dare fish the Provo! Haha the crowds are worse than ever but I guess that's just part of the game
Why the bad sleep? The hammock?
Hey CJ, long time subscriber to you channel here, you actually gave me the idea to buy a GoPro and make videos for my grandpa who can’t get out anymore! But I just wanted to ask your advice or for any tips you have on a certain River I’m going to this week, would you ever be willing to email me and answer if you’ve ever fished the severe river?
