Thanks for posting, I've found your videos very useful. You wouldn't happen to know the thread size and pitch of the sump drain plug at 5:52 would you? I changing oil and upon removal the thread is a bit iffy and I'd like to run a thread chaser nut down it before reinstalling... hopefully I won't have to grease up a thread chaser to tidy the sump portion. I just bought a 1971… phenomenal condition with only 6K on the Clock. Cost me $5K.

My jet block was in there so tight I cracked the carb body getting it out. Excellent videos!

I had the second 5 speeder off the production line and owned it for 31 years, it was not a Quaif box, the internals were triumph (in house) designed and the ratios for 4th and 5th were petty mismatched they changed the ratio's and brought out a (kit) for those that wanted to change . the two sets of gears were not interchangeable , I changed my oil pump to the trychoidal type and it transformed the oil supply , giving a cooler running engine in the process.

Hi there, I have been a huge fan of The Mighty Garage for many years now , your videos especially the sequential ones about repairs/maintenance, strips and rebuilds are superb being clear, precise and essentially informative.....I find them perfect and invaluable. My particular interest being the 850 Commando Mk 2A which has been in boxes for the last 45 years is now getting some long overdue attention . The frame and associated parts have been powder coated and the shiny bits re-chromed, any parts beyond restoration have been replaced with original new old stock and genuine parts where possible. I do have a question for you regarding the engine and gearbox casings, having looked in manuals, club forums and online I can't see any advice how to achieve the ' brand new ' look that your machines have. Are they painted or lacquered or bead blasted to get them looking so good ? I assume the fork yokes are painted as they deteriorated quite rapidly after bead blasting ( Scotland not being the driest places in the world ! ) Thank you for making the effort to produce such wonderful videos , the only drawback being that I spend more time watching them than working on the bike. I took off my throtle cable "needle" and placed it back in but for some reason when i start the bike it just keeps accelerating. Any idea of what it could be? A friend of mine told me the needle is installed wrong but i tried it over and over and still the same thing.

What a glorious sound it really takes me back. I had one of these back in the 70s - the most enjoyable bike I’ve ever owned!

I used CLR many years ago, which seemed to strip the surface off the carburetor so any screw parts wouldn't fit together anymore, also left a white residue. About a year ago I used Simple Green, but that also left a white powdery residue. Did you experience anything like this?

I really love watching your vids, because I am trying to revive my late Dad´s 650, but it makes me cringe when you bash the ratchet with a hammer or put drill chucks on a thread.

My Honda CB 750's sorely under represented at this event. You're easing me toward Norton's (the yellow was cool).

Tri-Spark has updated the Classic Twin ignition since Mike installed one on his Norton. This Classic Twin (TRI-0006) supersedes the Classic Twin TRI-0005A and TRI-0005B as the two A/B versions have been eliminated. The Classic Twin ignition stator unit TRI-0006 can be used as a replacement for the earlier versions, however the installation is different and you must use the installation manual for your version. See the Technical Page on their website for installation manuals.
