Standing the Correct Distance from the Ball!
Excellent concept. Do you have a trigger/movement to actually start the takeaway. Thank You
Sergio Garcia " pulls the chain" and is a very long hitter
I have heard and seen the concept of starting the swing with your hips. I see how it is done in this video. However even though I have been playing Golf for 46 years when I start the downswing with movement of my hips I am so out of balance that I either drive the club into the ground behind the ball or I top the ball. For some reason the movement shown in this video doesn't work for me.
wow. what a crazy course. id be afraid to lose several balls.
oh that hat looks good on you tho
Thanks Don!
Will you do a video on aim? Thanks!
Thank you Sir!
Except he doesn’t.
Great advice!! Hope I can do it!!
An excellent reminder to start the downswing with the lower body. However the problem then becomes how you use the lower body to initiate the downswing. Unfortunately many (most) of us have difficulty turning the hips without also turning the upper body, so if you start the downswing as suggested here, with both a "bump" and a hip turn, there's the tendency for the right shoulder to also start turning and throwing the arm and club towards the target line.....thus encouraging over the top. For me at least, just a bump/weight shift on to the front foot is a safer way to encourage the arms to drop rather than come over the top....and then the hips and upper body turn naturally in response to the arms swinging.
Great suggestion Don of "keeping the arms in front of the chest!" I will definitely be trying this one out! Well Done!
I’m smiling as I look at that expanse of water etc in front of Don. I’d need a calming drill like this standing over this drive. Great tip!
The bottom line for power is the lead arm must straight in line with clubhead at impact. This is where power comes from; not the speed of the clubhead. Just watch Troy Mullins or John Daly. When the lead arm & club are in perfect alignment & pointing directly at the center of the earth; this when gravity is at its strongest & speed/power is at its greatest.
Well, swing coaches have been teaching this since adam was a lad; and, it has never worked for anyone. If only you knew the secret.
Soft arms are they key as you mentioned. Tension kills swing speed 🙌👍
The moment I started to think about the inside of my right foot in the backswing it changed my golf forever. For the first time ever I had solid contact with the irons every shot
Nicely described!TY
Thank you Don, you are a gem!!!!!! Very much appreciate the video
Thank you Don, you are a gem!!!!!! Very much appreciate the video
Is this the same for woods off the tee?
Thank you so much ifr this simple insightful lesson which I was looking for 👌
This is one of the best demonstrations I've seen on this topic so far... crystal clear and concise... Thank you!
I can do this with no problem in my practice swing. When I go to hit the ball, not so much.
Preach it, brother😂😂😂
Same here. Totally agree!
Great drill. I’ll try this later this morning at the range. I’m assuming this applies to all swings?
I'm to the point where I hit my pitching wedge as far as any other club in my bag.
Good drill. OTP is the worst disease in the world.
This is great! Thank you!
Excellent job Don on explaining how to properly start the swing! This starting the lower half of the body, not the top half is reminiscent of how the baseball swing commences. An excellent reminder of how close the two sports mirror each other. Well Done Don!
👍🏽
nice one Don
Good explanation and example.
Great video, Coach Sheen. Some golf pros say that one should not come off of the butt line through impact. But I noticed that you came off of your tush line yet you still did not early extend. That is to say, you clearly rotated your hips clear, but your butt came off the line a bit. Is there a difference between staying on the tush line and clearing the hips? One is not necessary to obtain the other, is it?
You have to fix your audio issue bcs its always on the left side and could drive viewers away. That includes your other videos as well. Apart from that this was a good video
Working on this as we speak. Great advice! I noticed I’ve been rolling onto my right side of my right foot like you said. Much better contact. Can even hit my long irons! Thanks 🙏
What I meant to say was now I’m staying on inside of right foot.
Same club as normal? Or do you need to add a club or 2?
No 13 at Queens Harbour? Great hole and a great way to play it. 👊
Ball goes where your belt buckle points
Peepee to the teetee! 😊
Sounds simple enough....its worth a try
Short and to the point, wish there were more content creators doing this kind of thing. Thanks Don
Got me in one , a terrible swing fault 😩🏌️♂️
Excellent explanation. What trigger/ movement 2:38 do you recommend to actually start the backswing? Thank You
Thank you Don!!! Very informative and easy to understand 👍
do you teach in person, if so how can i get in contact with you? nevermind i found your website and prices. they are to high for me. i will just keep hacking, lol!!!
Do you establish your grip when the handle is at inside thigh or before? Or does that not matter?
Excellent job Don in explaining the proper hand position for the irons and driver! Inside the left thigh is the position I play both of these clubs from. Thank you for validating what I have been doing! I was so impressed with your presentation (brief but informative) that I have subscribed to your channel. Well Done Don!!
